Aims: This study aimed to compare the surgical outcomes of four distinct techniques for vaginal vault prolapse (VVP) after hysterectomy to identify the optimal approach. Methods: This retrospective study was conducted using the data of patients who underwent VVP between 2010 and 2022 and had a history of hysterectomy. The surgical techniques evaluated were laparotomic sacrocolpopexy (LPSC), laparoscopic sacrocolpopexy (LSSC), sacrospinous ligamentopexy (SSLP), and laparoscopic lateral suspension (LLS). The study outcomes were the surgical duration, VVP recurrence, and adverse outcomes. Results: The study included 77 women (age, mean±standard deviation: 58.96±9.96 years). LPSC, LSSC, SSLP, and LLS were detected in 27 (35%), 10 (13%), 31 (40.3%), and 9 (11.7%) cases, respectively. The duration of the surgery was significantly different among the groups (SSLP group: 115.96±51.29 min, LPSC group: 143.51±31.46 min, LLS group: 168.33±53.20 min, and LSSC group: 197.50±62.46 min, p=0.012). The recurrence rate of VVP was 11.11% in the LPSC group, 12.9% in the SSLP group, 11.11% in the LLS group, and 0.0% in the LSSC group (p=0.838). The rates of adverse outcomes in the early and late periods did not differ across the four groups, with p values of 0.274 and 0.556 (LPSC group: 18.52% and 18.52%, LSSC group: 20.0% and 20.0%, SSLP group: 6.46% and 22.58%, and LLS group: 0.0% and 22.22%). Conclusions: Surgical techniques for VVP, including LPSC, LSSC, SSLP, and LLS, showed comparable outcomes and recurrence rates, except for the duration of surgery, which was the lowest in the SSLP group and longest in the LSSC group.

INTRODUCTION: The hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis is active during minipuberty, the timing of which coincides with infantile colic. To the best of our knowledge, the relationship between these entities has not been previously investigated. METHODS: Saliva samples were collected from 15- to 60-day-old term infants (n=139) between 9 am and 5 pm. Group 1 included infants with infantile colic (n=68, 54.4% female) while the remaining healthy infants constituted Group 2 (n=71, 47.9% female). Salivary levels of estradiol (Esal) in females and testosterone (Tsal) in males were measured by ELISA in duplicate. RESULTS: The median (25th-75th centile) age and birth week for all infants were 33 (29-43) days and 39 (38.1-40) weeks, respectively. Levels of Tsal in males [Group 1, 73.35 (59.94-117.82) pg/mL vs Group 2, 77.66 (56.49-110.08) pg/mL, p=0.956] and Esal in females [Group 1, 3.91 (2.76-5.31) pg/mL vs Group 2, 4.03 (1.63-12.1) pg/mL, p=0.683] were similar. However, in subjects with infantile colic (Group 1), Esal and body mass index (BMI) standard deviation scores of females were slightly correlated (Group 1, rs= 0.393, p=0.016 vs. Group 2, rs= 0.308, p=0.076) and there was a significant correlation between the sampling time and Tsal in males (Group 1, rs= 0.469, p=0.009 vs. Group 2, rs= -0.005, p=0.976). DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION: Random salivary sex steroid levels were similar in infants with and without infantile colic. However, in subjects with infantile colic, Esal levels in females were positively correlated with BMI and Tsal levels were higher later in the day among males. Thus, sex steroid production may be altered during minipuberty in subjects with infantile colic.

Böylece müşterilerin sürdürülebilir ve toplumsal sorumluluğun oluştuğu projelere yatırım yapılmasının fırsatı sunulmuş olmaktadır. Katılım bankacılığı ve sürdürülebilirlik kavramları, finans sektörünün daha adil, etik ve çevreci bir şekilde işlemesine yardımcı olmaktadır. Bu iki kavramın bir araya gelmesiyle, ekonomik büyüme ile doğal kaynakların korunması ve toplumsal refahın artırılması arasında sağlam bir denge kurmak amaçlanmaktadır. Bu çalışma, sürdürülebilir kalkınmanın içeriğini ve stratejilerini ele alarak Türkiye’deki katılım bankalarının sürdürülebilirliğe etkilerini, dijitalleşmenin de bu ikili etkiye katkılarını ortaya koyma amacını taşımaktadır.

The taxonomic status of the Oxynoemacheilus from the Karınca and Havran streams in the north Aegean Basin was evaluated, and it was concluded that these populations contain a new species. The new species, Oxynoemacheilus kottelati sp. nov., is distinguished by a body with a marbled pattern, a deeper caudal peduncle, a shorter caudal peduncle, a wider interorbital distance, and a shorter middle caudal-fin lope. Oxynoemacheilus kottelati sp. nov. is differentiated from the closest species, O. marmaraensis, in possessing 51 nucleotide substitution sites, a genetic distance of 8.40%, the presence of an axillary lobe at the base of the pelvic fin (vs. absent), and a narrower median incision in the upper lip (vs. absent). Three species delimitation tests (ASAP, ABGD, and PTP) and phylogenetic analyses reinforce the validity of O. kottelati sp. nov. as a distinct species.

Salmo ekmekciae, new species, is described from the Köprüçay River, a drainage of Mediterranean Sea. It is distinguished from Salmo species in adjacent water by having 9–10 parr marks on flank; 11–13 scale rows between end of base of adipose-fin and lateral line; 22–24 gill rakers on first gill arch; a shorter distance between adipose-fin and caudal-fin base; a slenderer caudal peduncle; and a slenderer body at adipose-fin origin. According to the Bayesian, and maximum likelihood analyses, Salmo ekmekciae cyt b gene resulted in coherent trees supported by high bootstrap values.

Ring chromosome 20 syndrome is a rare genetic disorder characterized by non-convulsive status epilepticus (NCSE) attacks, leading to prolonged confusional states of varying intensity. It is often accompanied by electroencephalography (EEG) changes, such as long-lasting slow waves and occasional spikes, primarily over the frontal lobes, as well as focal seizures with visual hallucinations, cognitive impairment, and behavioral problems. Although clinical suspicion, typical EEG abnormalities, and network disorders revealed by functional neuroimaging method aid in diagnosis, karyotyping remains essential. Seizures are typically drug-resistant although some limited success has been reported with certain anti-seizure drugs. In this report, we present the case of a patient with previously frequent drug-resistant NCSE periods characterized by prolonged confusional states and frightening visual hallucinations. Treatment with lacosamide partially decreased the frequency of seizures. In addition, positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) imaging revealed hypometabolism in the frontal and parietal regions of the brain. In patients with drug-resistant and early frightening hallucinations, consideration of the ring 20 chromosome anomaly is crucial. PET/CT imaging may demonstrate hypometabolism in the parietal and frontal lobes, potentially associated with the hallucinations and epileptogenesis of the syndrome. Lacosamide may be a viable option for reducing seizures in Ring chromosome 20 syndrome.

Abstract Objective This study aimed to investigate the effects of the presence of subchorionic hematoma (SH) in early pregnancies with threatened miscarriage (TM) on levels of first-trimester maternal serum markers, pregnancy-associated plasma protein-A (PAPP-A), and free β-human chorionic gonadotropin (β-hCG) levels. Methods The data of TM cases with SH in the first trimester between 2015 and 2021 were evaluated retrospectively. The data of age and gestational age-matched TM cases without SH were also assessed to constitute a control group. Demographic characteristics, obstetric histories, ultrasonographic findings, and free β-hCG and PAPP-A levels of the groups were compared. Results There were 119 cases in the study group and 153 cases in the control group. The median vertical and longitudinal lengths of the SH were 31 mm and 16 mm. The median age of both groups was similar (p=0.422). The MoM value of PAPP-A was 0.088 (.93) in the study group and 0.9 (0.63) in the control group (p=0.519). Similarly, the MoM value of free β-hCG was 1.04 (0.78) in the study group and 0.99 (0.86) in the control group (p=0.66). No significant relationship was found in the multivariate analysis between free β-hCG MoM, PAPP-A MoM, age, gravida, and vertical and longitudinal lengths of the hematoma (p>0.05). Conclusion The level of PAPP-A and free β-hCG were not affected by the SH. Therefore, these markers can be used reliably in TM cases with SH for the first-trimester fetal aneuploidy screening test.

Background: The simple explanation of burnout syndrome is exhaustion from work and work-related factors. It is more common in work that requires face-to-face contact with people, such as dentists. In this study, we researched the burnout levels of dentists working in Turkey and evaluated them according to gender, title, place of work and experience. Methods: Burnout scores were determined by the Copenhagen Burnout Inventory. This questionnaire was delivered to dentists online through various social media applications. We analyzed data via SigmaPlot Software. Results: The answers of a total of 477 dentists were considered valid. We observed that 73,5% of them had high burnout scores. A statistically significant difference was found in the evaluations according to the title and workplace. Experience and gender do not statistically affect burnout scores. Conclusion: It has been observed that dentists working in Turkey are more likely to face burnout syndrome at high levels. It has been predicted that patient burden may be closely related to burnout syndrome.

Sustainability is a preeminent global issue. This study delves into sustainability with an examination of the effect of inflation instability on ecological footprint per capita through financial development, economic growth, and energy consumption by using the ARDL model for Turkey for the period 1980 through 2015. The results of this study confirmed that financial development and inflation instability improve the environment insignificantly while economic growth does not significantly damage the environment. In addition, energy consumption is found to cause environmental degradation. Results of this study show that the main issue for Turkey is consumption rather than production. Suggested policy-making implications are provided in the conclusion.

This work refers to the synthesis and characterization of poly (3-hydroxybutyrate)-b-oligo (2-ethyl oxazoline) (oligoEtOx). Cationic ring-opening polymerization of 2-ethyl oxazoline yielded poly (2-ethyl oxazoline) (oligoEtOx) with a hydroxyl end. Carboxylic acid-terminated PHB was reacted with oligoEtOx via dicyclohexylcarbodiimide chemistry to obtain PHB-b-oligoEtOx conjugates. The obtained PHB-b-oligoEtOx conjugates were successfully characterized by 1H- and 13C NMR, FTIR, DSC, and size exclusion chromatography. PHB-b-oligoEtOx conjugates can be promising biologic active materials.

Background and Objectives: Cisplatin is a chemotherapeutic drug that is frequently used with hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC). Cisplatin-induced gonadotoxicity leads to a depletion of the ovarian reserve, causing premature ovarian insufficiency. This study aimed to investigate the impact of hyperthermia on cisplatin-induced ovarian toxicity and to determine whether sevoflurane or desflurane could be a more appropriate choice of anesthetic for reducing ovarian toxicity in HIPEC procedures. Materials and Methods: A total of 24 New Zealand rabbits were randomly divided into 4 groups as follows: Group H: HIPEC (cisplatin 7 mg/kg), Group HS: HIPEC (cisplatin 7 mg/kg) + 3% sevoflurane (2 h), Group HD: HIPEC (cisplatin 7 mg/kg) + 6% desflurane (2 h), and Group C: Control (Saline). Two catheters were placed in the abdominal cavity, the upper and lower quadrants. The perfusate was heated to 42 °C and given intraperitoneally for 90 min at a rate of 4 mL/min by catheters. Ovarian tissues were collected for Hematoxylin and Eosin staining and immunohistochemical analysis. Results: The primary follicle number was significantly decreased in Group H and HD compared to the C group (p < 0.05). Bax expression was high in Group H, according to all groups (p < 0.0001). Bax expression significantly decreased after sevoflurane, compared to group H (p = 0.012). The bcl-2 expression decreased in all groups compared to the C group. Bcl-2 expression was increased with sevoflurane compared to the H group (p = 0.001). Caspase 3 and p53 expression increased in all groups compared to the C group. p53 expression was decreased with sevoflurane and desflurane compared to the H group (p = 0.002, p = 0.008, respectively). Conclusions: The application of cisplatin with the intraoperative HIPEC method caused ovarian damage. According to our results, sevoflurane anesthesia could be a better option in mitigating cell death I the n ovarian reserve (follicle count) and apoptosis in the HIPEC procedures. We think that our findings should be supported by large series of clinical and experimental studies.

Objective: There is no significant clinical manifestations indicating Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection in pediatric population. In this study, the most common complaints, endoscopic and histopathological findings in children with H. pylori infection were evaluated and their correlation with each other was explicated. Method: Patients between 3-18 years, who had documented H. pylori infection, were enrolled in this study. Gastric biopsies were taken in all patients for rapid urease test (RUT) and histopathological examination, activity of gastritis, chronic inflammation, and Sydney classification was used to evaluate intensity of H. pylori, grade of atrophy, and intestinal metaplasia. Demographic characteristics, complaints, endoscopic findings and Sydney scores of the patients were recorded. Results: A total of 339 patients (183 females) were enrolled in the study. The most common complaints were dyspepsia and epigastric pain. Ninety percent of the patients had antral pathology, including antral nodularity in 78% of the cases. Relation between dyspepsia, epigastric pain, and antral nodularity was found to be statistically significant. In histopathological examination, intensity of H. pylori is found to be increasing with age. RUT was positive in 89.4% of the patients and relation between RUT results and the intensity of H. pylori was statistically significant. Highly significant correlations were detected between macroscopic changes in the antrum, the intensity of H. pylori and gastritis activity (p≤0.0001, p=0.01, respectively). Conclusion: The most common complaints of children with H. pylori infection were epigastric pain and dyspepsia. There were significant relations with these complaints, antral macroscopic changes and intensity of H. pylori, which increases with age. As a result, dyspepsia and epigastric pain are related with antral changes. Considering that antral changes are also associated with H. pylori intensity, gastritis activity and chronic inflammation, early eradication of the H. pylori infection can be recommended to prevent long-term complications in children with H. pylori infection.

Bu çalışmada, AB tipi diblok (mPEG-b-PCL) ve BAB tipi triblok (PCL-b-PEG-b-PCL) kopolimerler sırasıyla makrobaşlatıcı olarak mPEG (monometoksi poli(etilen glikol)) ve PEG (poli etilen glikol) kullanılarak ve katalizör olarak kalay oktanoat (Sn(Oct)2) kullanılarak ε-kaprolakton (ε-CL)’nun halka açılması polimerizasyonu ile sentezlendi. Blok kopolimer içerisinde, gümüş nitrat (AgNO3) metal tuzlarının indirgenmesiyle gümüş nanoparçacıkları içeren Ag/PEG-b-PCL ve Ag/PCL-b-PEG-b-PCL kolloidal çözeltileri üretilmiştir. mPEG-b-PCL ve PCL-b-PEG-b-PCL blok kopolimerlerinin karakterizasyonu, GPC, FTIR ve 1HNMR teknikleri kullanılarak yapılmıştır. Hibrit yapı içerisindeki gümüş nanoparçacık formasyonu, yüzey plazmon rezonans (SPR) dalga boyu değişiminden ve floresans emisyon spektrumundan gözlenmiştir. İlaç taşıyıcı sistemlerde model ilaç olarak kullanılan metilen mavisinin, polimerde gümüş nanoparçacıkların varlığında, löko-metilene indirgenme hızı araştırılmıştır.

Amaç: KOSGEB (Küçük ve Orta Ölçekli İşletmeleri Geliştirme ve Destekleme İdaresi Başkanlığı) müdürlüklerinin yapısal analizini yapan ve ekonomik yapılarını ortaya koyan bu çalışmanın temel amacı KOSGEB’in müdürlüklerinin toplam faktör verimliliklerinin zaman içindeki gelişimini ortaya koymak ve kamu kaynaklarının etkin kullanımı açısından toplam faktör verimliliğini artırabilecek strateji ve politikaları önermektir. Yöntem: Farrell’in 1957’deki ‘Üretken Verimliliğin Ölçümü’ çalışması üzerine geliştirilen veri zarflama analizi yöntemiyle müdürlüklerin teknik etkinlik skorları hesaplanmıştır. Kurumun toplam faktör verimliliği 2018-2020 yılları için Malmquist endeksi yöntemiyle ortaya koyulmuştur ve bu endeksin bileşenleri analiz edilmiştir. Bulgular: 2018-2020 yıllarında KOSGEB’in Türkiye genelinde elde ettiği aynı çıktıların %29 tasarrufla elde edilebileceği anlaşılmıştır. İncelenen dönem için olumsuz olan toplam faktör verimliliğindeki değişimin kaynağının teknolojideki değişim olduğu ortaya koyulmuştur. Özgünlük: Verimliliklerini artırabilecek strateji ve politikaları belirlemiş olan kurumlar ülke ekonomisine olumlu katkı yapacaklardır. Literatürde kurumların verimliliği üzerine olan çalışmalar, genelde yerel düzeyde ya da bölgesel düzeyde yapılmıştır. Bu çalışma Türkiye’de ulusal düzeyde kurumlar için yapılan literatürde rastlanan birkaç çalışmadan biridir.

Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) are recommended for the prevention of gastrointestinal bleeding in acute coronary syndrome (ACS) patients who receive dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) but have been associated with an increased risk of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) in these patients. We aimed to investigate the relationship between serum asymmetric dimethylarginine (ADMA) and copeptin levels and MACE in those who started on imminent DAPT and PPI therapy after PCI. 90 patients with ACS were included in this prospective observational study and divided into three groups lansoprazole (n=30), rabeprazole (n=31), and pantoprazole (n=29). The serum ADMA and copeptin levels were examined at the time of diagnosis, at the end of 1st and 6th month. MACE was defined as mortality, recurrent AMI (acute myocardial infarction), and CST (coronary stent thrombosis) development after PCI. MACE developed in two patients in the first month and eight patients (8.9%) after six months of follow-up. At six months, CST was seen in only two patients (2.2%). At the first-month evaluation, while a significant increase was observed in serum ADMA levels at the time of admission (p [Med-Science 2023; 12(2.000): 522-6]

İntraoral Lipom: Bir Olgu Sunumu Amaç Lipomlar, fibröz doku tarafından lobüllere ayrılan, adipoz doku orijinli, çoğunlukla normal mukoza ile örtülü, asemptomatik, benign mezenşimal neoplazmlardır. Genellikle sebebi bilinmese de etyolojide ailesel yatkınlık, travma, alkol, radyasyon ve bazı kronik hastalıklar suçlanmaktadır. Erkeklerde kadınlara göre daha fazla saptanmıştır. Bu olgu sunumunda yanakta az rastlanan ve oldukça büyük boyutlara ulaşmış lipomun tedavisi sunulacaktır. Olgu Yirmi yedi yaşında kadın hasta, uzun süredir mevcut olan ve boyutları giderek artan sağ yanakta şişlik şikâyetiyle kliniğimize başvurdu. Yapılan muayenede sağ bukkal mukoza bölgesinde yaklaşık 2x2 cm boyutunda, yumuşak kıvamlı, hareketli ve düzgün sınırlı kitle tespit edildi. Lokal anestezi altında intraoral yaklaşımla kitle total olarak eksize edildi. Histopatolojik inceleme sonucu, lipom olarak gelen hastanın, 2 yıllık takibinde nüks görülmedi. Bulgular Lipomlar, kapsüler adipoz dokunun benign neoplazmları olup, genellikle subkutanöz dokularda görülseler de derin dokularda da görülebilirler. Maksillofasiyal bölgede nisbeten az rastlanırlar. En sık parotis bölgesinde görülürler, bunu yanak izler. Tanı amacıyla ince iğne aspirasyon biyopsisi, ultrason, BT ve manyetik rezonans görüntüleme yöntemleri kullanılmaktadır. Ayrıcı tanıda, fibroepitelyal polip, anjioma, dermoid kist, fibroma ve liposarkom düşünülmelidir. Temel tedavi şekli cerrahi eksizyon olan lipomlar, fonksiyonel veya kozmetik nedenlerle eksize edilebilirler ve total rezeksiyonu takiben genellikle rekürrens göstermezler. Sonuç Lipom benign bir tümör olup tüm vücutta yaygın görülmekle beraber ağız içi lipomlar, rutin diş muayeneleri sırasında fark edilebilen nadir bir antitedir. Etyolojisi net olarak bilinmemektedir. Kesin tanı ve tedavisi için cerrahi eksizyon uygundur. Bukkal bölgedeki lipomlar intraoral yolla güvenli bir şekilde total olarak eksize edilebilir. Bu olguda total olarak eksize edilen lipomun 2 yıllık takibinde herhangi bir şikâyet ve nüks görülmedi. Anahtar kelimeler: bukkal mukoza, oral lipom, patoloji

ÖZ Amaç : Anksiyete korku, sıkıntı ya da kuruntunun meydana getirdiği belirgin huzursuzluk durumudur. Belli bir aşamaya kadar gayet normal olan bu duygu, anormal seviyeye çıktığında kişinin yaşamını, sosyalliğini ve faaliyetlerini etkileyebilir. Dental anksiyete ise, genel anksiyeteye nazaran daha spesifik olarak değerlendirilebilir. Bu anksiyeteyi; diş tedavileri için kişide oluşan endişe olarak açıklayabiliriz. Dental anksiyetesi olan bireylerin diş hekimi tarafından farkedilmesi, uygulanacak tedavilerin ne gibi protokollerle yapılması gerektiğinin bilinmesi bakımından ciddi önem arz eder. Çalışmamızın amacı, gömülü 3.molar cerrahisi öncesinde uygulanabilecek 3 farklı bilgilendirme tekniğinin karşılaştırılması ve ideal bilgilendirme yönteminin araştırılmasıdır. Gereç ve Yöntemler : Bu çalışma, herhangi sistemik veya psikolojik problemi olmayan, yaşları 18 ile 44 arası değişen, 29’u erkek 31’u kadın olmak üzere 60 gönüllü hasta üzerinde gerçekleştirilmiştir. Hastalar 3 gruba ayrılmıştır. İlk gruptaki hastalara gömülü 3.molar diş çekimi ile ilgili sözlü bilgilendirme yapılmıştır. İkinci gruptaki hastalara bu cerrahiyi anlatan 8 adet fotoğraf gösterilmiştir. Son gruba ise gömülü 3.molar cerrahisini gösteren bir video izletilmiştir. Hastalardan gömülü 3.molar diş çekimi ve bilgilendirme öncesi MDAS, STAIS, STAI-T anketlerini doldurmaları istenmiştir. Tüm hastalardan, bilgilendirme yapıldıktan hemen sonra MDAS ve STAI-S anketini tekrar doldurmaları istenmiştir. İşlem bittikten hemen sonra VAS anketi uygulanmıştır. Tüm hastalara operasyondan 1 hafta sonra MDAS, STAI-S ve VAS anketi uygulanmıştır. Bulgular: Üç grupta da preoperatif dental anksiyete skorları bilgilendirme yapıldıktan sonra azalmıştı.İstatistiksel olarak anlamlı azalma videolu bilgilendirme grubunda gözlemlendi. Sonuç olarak, çalışmamızda hastaları görsel olarak bilgilendirmenin anksiyeteyi azaltma üzerine daha etkili olduğu kanaatindeyiz. Bu durum, hem hasta hem de hekim için daha uygun bir çalışma ortamı hazırlanmasına yardımcı olmaktadır.

AMAÇ Dentoalveolar ve perioral yumuşak doku yaralanmaları çeşitli travmalara bağlı olarak genellikle kavga, düşme, trafik kazası ve spor yaralanmaları sonucunda meydana gelir. Diş yaralanmalarının çoğu ön dişleri, özellikle de maksiller santral dişleri etkiler. Konküzyon, sublüksasyon ve lüksasyon süt dişlerinde en sık görülen yaralanmalar iken, daimi dişlerde en sık komplike olmayan kron kırıkları görülür. Üç olgu içeren bu serinin amacı çocuklarda görülebilen travmatik yaralanmalara erken müdahale edildiğinde dentoalveolar yapılarda gözlenen olumlu iyileşme sürecinin aktarılması bununla beraber müdahaleye geç kalındığında dentoalveolar yapı kayıplarının gösterilmesidir. OLGU İlk iki olguda benzer yaştaki çocuk hastalarda görülen dentoalveolar yaralanmalara, hastaların kliniğimize erken başvurması sonucu uyguladığımız tedavilerin olumlu sonuçlar verdiği yapılan takipler sonrasında gözlemlenmiştir. Bir diğer olguda ise travma alan hasta aradan uzun zaman geçtikten sonra kliniğimize ağrı ve şişlik şikayetiyle başvurmuştur. Gelişen olumsuz durum hastada diş ve kemik kayıplarına neden olmuştur. BULGU Bahsedilen olgulardaki travma hastalarından kliniğimize erken başvuranlar için tedavi süreci olumlu sonuçlanmış ve uzun dönemde başarı sağlanmıştır. Ancak üzerinden zaman geçen olguda hastada kemik ve diş kaybıyla sonuçlanan, hastayı estetik, psikolojik ve de fonksiyonel olarak etkileyen bir süreç ortaya çıkmıştır. SONUÇ Dental travmalar genellikle komplikedir ve yaralanmaların erken tedavisi uzun vadeli sonuç elde etmek için oldukça önemlidir. Hekimin bilgisi ve tedaviye yaklaşımı aynı zamanda hasta ve ailesinin yaralanma konusunda bilinç düzeyi, travma sonrası sağlık kuruluşuna başvurma süresi gibi birçok faktör prognozu önemli ölçüde etkilemektedir. Background and Design: Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory skin disease. The monocyte/high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol ratio (MHR), neutrophil/HDL cholesterol ratio (NHR), and lymphocyte/HDL cholesterol ratio (LHR) are new inflammatory parameters associated with inflammatory diseases. This study aimed to compare MHR, NHR, and LHR between patients with rosacea and healthy controls and determine the relationship of these parameters with disease severity. Materials and Methods: The study retrospectively included 82 patients who presented to our hospital with rosacea and 82 healthy controls. The MHR, NHR, and LHR of the patient and control groups were calculated. Patients were divided into groups according to the clinical subtypes, disease severity, and presence of Demodex mites. Results: Of the 82 patients included in the study, 62 (75.6%) were female and 20 (24.4%) were male, and their mean age was 41.95+-1.2 (22-65.43) years. The mean MHR values of the rosacea and control groups were 0.01+-0.005 and 0.009+-0.003, respectively, and the difference was statistically significant (p=0.01). The mean NHR values of the rosacea and control groups were 0.10+-0.05 and 0.08+-0.02, respectively, and the difference was statistically significant (p=0.04). The mean LHR values of the rosacea and control groups were 0.05+-0.02 and 0.04+-0.01, respectively, indicating no statistically significant difference (p>0.05). For the prediction of patients with rosacea, the cut-off MHR was calculated as 0.009 (67% sensitivity and 60% specificity) and that of NHR was 0.08 (64% sensitivity and 60% specificity). Conclusion: The results reveal that MHR and NHR parameters can be used as indicators of systemic inflammation in patients with rosacea.

Background. This study aims to evaluate the optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) findings in cases with degenerative and tractional lamellar macular holes (LMH). Methods. Two subtypes of LMH cases were included. Seventeen patients had the degenerative subtype, whereas 18 patients had the tractional subtype of LMH. Twenty healthy individuals were enrolled as the control group. The foveal avascular zone (FAZ) and retinal vascular densities in the superficial, deep capillary, and choriocapillary plexuses were analyzed and compared with fellow eyes and healthy controls using OCTA. Results. The mean FAZ area was wider in the degenerative subtype (0.33 ± 0.14 mm2) compared to the tractional subtype (0.24 ± 0.10 mm2) (p=0.04) and control eyes (0.26 ± 0.10 mm2) (p=0.03). Foveal vessel densities in the superficial and deep capillary plexuses were lower in the degenerative group than in the tractional group, (21.7 ± 9.8% vs. 26.8 ± 6.9%, p=0.01 and 28.5 ± 5.1% vs. 36.9 ± 6.2%, p=0.01). Choriocapillary vascular density in the parafoveal area was also lower in degenerative lamellar macular holes compared to the tractional group (60.4 ± 4.7% vs. 63.7 ± 3.9%, p=0.03). Abstract Objective: To evaluate the validity and reliability of the Turkish version of the US Adult Food Security Survey Module (AFSSM). Design: A cross-sectional study collected data from 117 university students. The AFSSM questionnaire was completed by all participants. Psychometric evaluation for scale, content, construct, and convergent validity and reliability of the scale was tested. The construct validity was assessed by exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) on data collected from university students. Cronbach’s α (internal consistency) and composite reliability were used to assess the reliability (P < 0·05). Setting: Students were recruited from the university. Participants: This research was conducted with volunteer university students with a mean age of 22·74 ± 4·19 years. Results: Three factors were extracted from eight items through EFA: (1) inadequate nutrition, (2) economic concern and (3) hunger. These factors accounted for 77·4 % of the total variance, and factor loadings ranged from 0·755 to 0·953. Cronbach’s α was 0·769. The results of the CFA suggested the fit indices were acceptable (χ2/s d = 0·235, root mean error of approximation: 0·034, goodness-of-fit index: 0·994, comparative fit index: 0·992 and normed fit index: 0·986). Conclusions: This is the first study that validates and reports the Turkish version of AFSSM in university students, and the results of our study show that the Turkish AFSSM is a valid and reliable tool for determining food security in university students. AFSSM can be used by researchers to examine the food security of university students.

Background: Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2, the virus causing coronavirus disease-2019, is a biological hazard in workplaces. Thus, protective measures should be applied. Despite their potential role, the perspective of workplace representatives on coronavirus disease-2019 measures is rarely investigated. Aims: To assess the perspective of workplace union representatives on coronavirus disease-2019 measures in their workplaces in the first year of the pandemic in Turkey. Study Design: A descriptive observational study. Methods: This national descriptive study included workplace chief representatives of 33 workers’ unions. A 42-item electronic survey was used to collect data to evaluate the practice of job organization, social distancing and personal protective equipment use, sanitization, and occupational safety and health training. Results: The study included 509 workplace chief representatives’ responses. Results showed that several administrative measures, including suspending production or work, encouraging workers to take leave, implementing alternate work schedules, isolating any coronavirus disease-2019 case from other workers in a designated room, and avoiding face-to-face meetings, were not available in more than half of the workplaces. The mean number of available measures was significantly high (p < 0.001) in the industrial sector and workplaces with 250 or more workers. Almost all union representatives (98.8%) reported at least one diagnosis of coronavirus disease-2019 among workers, and 12.6% reported a positive history of coronavirus disease-2019-related mortality. The regression model for any history of coronavirus disease-2019 mortality in workers demonstrated a significantly increased association with workplaces with 250 or more workers compared with workplaces with less than 250 workers (odds ratio =2.99, 95% confidence interval =1.65-5.44, p < 0.001). Conclusion: The results indicate failure in administrative measures and the need for improvement in medium- and small-sized workplaces and the non-industrial sector. All local and national stakeholders need to pay special attention to address these issues. Future studies should evaluate on-site coronavirus disease-2019 workplace measures and their effectiveness.

Objective:This study determined the sleep quality of surgical intensive care patients and the affecting factors.Materials and Methods:This descriptive study was conducted from April 2021 to January 2022 in the surgical intensive care unit of the university hospital. One hundred participants who met the inclusion criteria were included. The researcher completed the patient descriptive form and The Richards-Campbell Sleep Questionnaire (RCSQ) by face-to-face interview.Results:The RCSQ total score of the patients was 39.3±14.4. Age, type of surgical performed, pain severity, stress score and environmental factors (lights of the intensive care setting, device sounds, ambient odor, ambient temperature, voices of other patients, and conversations of the intensive care unit staff) affected the quality of sleep of patients.Conclusion:Patients had poor sleep quality in the intensive care unit. Increasing the awareness of nurses and intensive care team members about the factors disrupting sleep quality and possible solutions, transferring the solutions to the clinic, and evaluating the results may improve the sleep quality of patients.
