Background: Toothbrushing, limiting intake frequency, and scheduled visits to an oral healthcare professional (OHP) are key for good oral health. We aimed to explore factors influencing these oral health behaviours in Dutch adolescents with mild to borderline intellectual disabilities (MBID) in residential care. Method: Using a qualitative, descriptive approach, we conducted focus groups and interviews with 12 adolescents, 9 counsellors, and 6 OHPs. Thematic analysis mapped factors influencing adolescents' knowledge, attitude, planning, and execution of oral health behaviours to oral care stakeholders. Results: Of nine identified influencing factors, three were pivotal: Structure (influencing toothbrushing and intake frequency), Anxiety (impeding dental visits), and Support (provided by counsellors). Conclusions: Counsellors should provide structured daily guidance on oral hygiene and diet for adolescents with MBID, while respecting the adolescents' autonomy. As intermediaries between adolescents and OHPs, counsellors are key in reducing dental anxiety. Counsellors need clear oral health policies within care facilities to address competing priorities.

Background: One form of cancer that affects the bone marrow and blood is called acute myeloid leukemia (AML). It is distinguished by the myeloblasts, or aberrant white blood cells, growing quickly and interfering with the formation of healthy blood cells. The small non-coding RNA molecule known as microRNA-150 (miR-150) is involved in the control of gene expression in several biological functions, including hematopoiesis, the process that creates new blood cells. miR-150 has been studied in relation to acute AML for its possible functions in leukemogenesis and normal hematopoiesis. Objective: assess the gene expression miRNA150 in AML patients. Materials and methods: In this study, 35 patients aged between 15 to 95 years old in the pre-and post-treatment cohorts and 35 healthy volunteers were included. The samples were obtained from Medical City's Baghdad Teaching Hospital. Results: The age group of AML patients did not significantly differ from the control group (P≥0.05). The expression of the miR-150 gene was downregulated in the untreated AML patients while it was upregulated in the treated AML patients in comparison with the healthy control group.Conclusions: The analysis indicated that there was no significant difference in the age distribution between patients infected with Acute myeloid leukemia and the control group. miR-150 expression was downregulated in untreated AML patients while it was upregulated in treated AML patients. Consequently, miR-150 might be regarded as an AML prognostic marker.

Background Persons with COVID‐19 may experience limitations in daily functioning and can be referred to occupational therapy.Objectives To evaluate changes in daily functioning, cognitive complaints, fatigue and self-management of persons with COVID-19 who received occupational therapy in primary care.To get insights in the volume and duration of occupational therapy.Design A pre-post observational cohort study from October 2020 until April 2021.Setting Fifty-eight occupational therapy practices in primary care throughout the Netherlands participated with 68 occupational therapists.Participants 228 adults (≥18 years) with COVID-19, referred to occupational therapy, gave informed consent and participated in the pre-post evaluation. The mean age was 49 years (SD 13) and 79% of the patients was female. The most frequently reported complaints included fatigue and cognitive complaints.Interventions Occupational therapy using Dutch guidelines for occupational therapy in clients with COVID-19.Outcome measures Performance and satisfaction with performance using the Canadian Occupational Performance Measure (COPM); the impact of Cognitive Complaints on Participation (CoCo-P); and daily activities, self-management and perceived contribution of occupational therapy using the Patient Reported Outcome Measure for Occupational Therapy (PROM-OT).Results COPM-performance score improved with a mean difference of 2.9 points (95% CI 2.7 to 3.2), and COPM-satisfaction score improved with 3.2 points (95% CI 2.9 to 3.5). CoCo-P score improved with a mean difference of 20.9 points (95% CI from 14.4 to 27.4), and PROM-OT improved with 42.8 points (95% CI from 40.2 to 45.4). Participants received a median of seven sessions of occupational therapy (IQR 5–10) with a median duration of 18 weeks (IQR 12–25). They valued the contribution of occupational therapy to their improved functioning with a mean score of 8 (SD 1.4) and recommended this to others with a mean score of 9 (SD 1.2).Conclusions Persons with COVID-19 who received occupational therapy in primary care improved significantly in daily functioning and highly valued occupational therapy.

Background: Several conditions and diseases can result in speech problems that can have a negative impact on everyday functioning, referred to as communicative participation. Subjective problems with acquired speech problems are often assessed with the speech handicap index (SHI). To assess generic participation problems, the Utrecht Scale for Evaluation of Rehabilitation--Participation (USER-P) questionnaire is frequently used. The English questionnaire Communicative Participation Item Bank--short form (CPIB short form) is a 10-item valid, reliable instrument that assesses communicative participation. In the absence of a Dutch equivalent, translation and validation of the CPIB short form was required. Aims: To translate the CPIB short form into Dutch, and to determine its psychometric properties for the group of adults with speech problems resulting from a neurological aetiology or head and neck cancer. Methods & Procedures: Translation of the CPIB short form was performed following the instructions of the European Organisation for Research and Treatment for Cancer (EORTC). In a cross-sectional multi-centre study, participants completed the Dutch CPIB short form together with the SHI and USER-P, and the CPIB a second time after 2 weeks. We assessed internal consistency and test--retest reliability of the CPIB. Construct validity was assessed based on correlations with SHI, USER-P and speech assessments. Outcomes & Results: In the validation study, 122 participants were included: 51 with dysarthria due to different neurological disorders, 48 with speech problems due to head and neck cancer treatment and 23 healthy controls. Internal consistency of the items was high (Cronbach's alpha = 0.962), the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) for test-retest reliability was high 0.908 (95% CI = 0.870-0.935). Construct validity was supported by a strong correlation between the Dutch CPIB short form and the SHI total score (SHI total r[subscript s] = 0.887) and a moderate correlation between the Dutch CPIB-10 and the USER-P subscales (USER-P Frequency r[subscript s] = 0.365; USER-P restrictions and USER-P satisfaction r[subscript s] = 0.546). A moderate correlation was found between the Dutch CPIB-10 and the speech performance assessments (degree of distortedness r = -0.0557; p [less than or equal to] 0.001; degree of intelligibility r = 0.0562). Conclusions & Implications: The Dutch CPIB short form provides a valid and reliable tool for clinical practice and research purposes. It allows clinicians to start using this PROM in clinical and research practice to systematically investigate the impact of the speech problems on communicative participation in a Dutch-speaking population.

Background: Communication difficulties are common in people with dementia, and often present from an early stage. However, direct treatment options for people with dementia that positively influence their daily communication are scarce. Aims: To evaluate the potential impact and feasibility of a personalized logopaedic intervention. Methods & Procedures: A total of 40 community-dwelling persons with dementia and their caregivers were recruited. Five experienced speech and language therapists (SLTs) delivered the six-session Com-mens intervention at home. Com-mens aims to improve positive communication between people with dementia and their primary caregivers and comprises five elements: interactive history-taking, dynamic observational assessment, education about the consequences of dementia on communication, development and use of personalized communication tools, use motivational, and person-centred strategies by the SLT. We conducted a single-group mixed-methods pilot study with five measurements: baseline, directly after intervention, and at 3, 6 and 9 months follow-up. Semi-structured interviews and questionnaires for Experienced Communication in Dementia, quality of life, psychological well-being and caregiver burden were conducted. Process evaluation was performed by interviewing participants, drop-outs, SLTs and other stakeholders. Outcomes & Results: A total of 32 dyads completed the intervention. Repeated measures analyses revealed no significant changes over time. In the interviews, participants reported a positive impact on their feelings, increased communication skills and better coping with the diagnosis. Participants would recommend the intervention to others. Facilitators were timely delivery, personalized content and adequate reimbursement. Barriers were unfamiliarity with Com-mens among referrers, an overburdened caregiver or disrupted family relationships. Conclusions & Implications: This newly developed logopaedic intervention is feasible and has a perceived positive impact on both people with dementia and their caregivers, which is confirmed by a stable pattern over a period of 1 year. Future comparative studies are needed to test the effectiveness of personalized interventions in this patient population.

Embarking on a comprehensive review of the Environmental Economics literature, we employed a bibliometric approach to gather 6,118 articles published between 1993 and 2023 from Scopus-indexed journals. Leveraging various software tools, including RStudio, VOSviewer, and Excel, we analyzed the data to identify the most active scientific contributors in terms of countries, institutions, sources, documents, and authors. Our examination revealed a notable upward trend in publication starting from 2017, underscoring the increasingly diverse applications of Environmental Economics across domains such as Sustainability, Environmental Footprints, Carbon Emissions, Climate Impact, Navigating Environmental Governance, Policies for Sustainable Futures, Economic Approaches, and Environmental Sustainability. Notably, China, the United States, and the United Kingdom emerged as the top three contributors to the literature. The findings of our study offer valuable insights for market participants, particularly in understanding how Environmental Economics can inform their decision-making processes.

IntroductionConstitutive activation of the mTOR pathway, as observed in Tuberous Sclerosis Complex (TSC), leads to glial dysfunction and subsequent epileptogenesis. Although astrocytes are considered important mediators for synaptic clearance and phagocytosis, little is known on how astrocytes contribute to the epileptogenic network.MethodsWe employed singlenuclei RNA sequencing and a hybrid fetal calf serum (FCS)/FCS-free cell culture model to explore the capacity of TSC-derived astrocytes to maintain glutamate homeostasis and clear debris in their environment.ResultsWe found that TSC astrocytes show reduced maturity on RNA and protein level as well as the inability to clear excess glutamate through the loss of both enzymes and transporters complementary to a reduction of phagocytic capabilities.DiscussionOur study provides evidence of mechanistic alterations in TSC astrocytes, underscoring the significant impairment of their supportive functions. These insights enhance our understanding of TSC pathophysiology and hold potential implications for future therapeutic interventions.

BackgroundPatients recovering from COVID-19 often experience persistent problems in their daily activities related to limitations in physical, nutritional, cognitive, and mental functioning. To date, it is unknown what treatment is needed to support patients in their recovery from COVID-19. ObjectiveThis study aimed to evaluate the primary allied health care of patients recovering from COVID-19 at 6-month follow-up and to explore which baseline characteristics are associated with changes in the scores of outcomes between baseline and 6-month follow-up. MethodsThis Dutch nationwide prospective cohort study evaluated the recovery of patients receiving primary allied health care (ie, dietitians, exercise therapists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and speech and language therapists) after COVID-19. All treatments offered by primary allied health professionals in daily practice were part of usual care. Patient-reported outcome measures on participation, health-related quality of life, fatigue, physical functioning, and psychological well-being were assessed at baseline and at 3- and 6-month follow-up. Linear mixed model analyses were used to evaluate recovery over time, and uni- and multivariable linear regression analyses were used to examine the association between baseline characteristics and recovery. ResultsA total of 1451 adult patients recovering from COVID-19 and receiving treatment from 1 or more primary allied health professionals were included. For participation (Utrecht Scale for Evaluation of Rehabilitation—Participation range 0-100), estimated mean differences of at least 2.3 points were observed at all time points. For the health-related quality of life (EuroQol Visual Analog Scale, range 0-100), the mean increase was 12.3 (95% CI 11.1-13.6) points at 6 months. Significant improvements were found for fatigue (Fatigue Severity Scale, range 1-7): the mean decrease was –0.7 (95% CI –0.8 to –0.6) points at 6 months. However, severe fatigue was reported by 742/929 (79.9%) patients after 6 months. For physical functioning (Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System—Physical Function Short Form 10b, range 13.8-61.3), the mean increase was 5.9 (95% CI 5.9-6.4) points at 6 months. Mean differences of –0.8 (95% CI –1.0 to –0.5) points for anxiety (Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale range 0-21) and –1.6 (95% CI –1.8 to –1.3) points for depression were found after 6 months. A worse baseline score, hospital admission, and male sex were associated with greater improvement between baseline and 6-month follow-up, whereas age, the BMI, comorbidities, and smoking status were not associated with mean changes in any outcome measures. ConclusionsPatients recovering from COVID-19 who receive primary allied health care make progress in recovery but still experience many limitations in their daily activities after 6 months. Our findings provide reference values to health care providers and health care policy makers regarding what to expect from the recovery of patients who receive health care from 1 or more primary allied health professionals. Background: People with intellectual disabilities have worse health outcomes compared to their peers without. However, regarding oral health parameters, recent systematic reviews reported conflicting evidence. The aim was to assess whether adolescents with MBID differ from their peers in oral health and oral health behaviour. Methods: Ninety seven adolescents with MBID participated in this comparative study. Outcomes were compared to data of 17-year-old Dutch adolescents (n = 581) from a national epidemiological study on oral health and oral health behaviour. Results: Adolescents with MBID showed worse oral health outcomes and poorer oral hygiene than their peers from the general population. Furthermore, they visit the dentist less regularly, brush less frequently, eat main-dishes less frequently and have higher levels of dental anxiety. Conclusion: Adolescents with MBID have poorer oral health and show worse oral health-promoting behaviours than their peers in the general population. Targeted interventions to reach this vulnerable group are necessary.

This study aims to investigate economic development in the digital economy and uncover trends and insights that might contribute to future research. Furthermore, the study, examining English-language publications from 2000 to 2023 in the Web of Science Core Collection, employs bibliometric and content analysis to statistically evaluate the field of economic development in the digital economy. Co-citation, co-authorship, and bibliographical coupling analyses revealed China, the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and “Sustainability” as the leading influencers in terms of country, institution, and journal, respectively. Five key themes emerged: (1) the interplay between digital technologies and economic growth, (2) leveraging digital tools for businesses, (3) the applications and impacts of diverse digital technologies across sectors, (4) the broader social implications of the digital economy, and (5) government policies for fostering digital economic progress. The study concludes by proposing avenues for further investigation.

Abstract Objective To evaluate the effectiveness of personalized and home-based speech therapy on quality of life, intelligibility, and social participation for people with Parkinson’s disease (PD) who have a reduced intelligibility of speech. Background Speech problems in PD have a profound negative impact on social interaction and quality of life. Evidence for speech therapy in PD is growing, but more work remains needed to explore its full potential. Efficacy exists for highly intensive standardized speech treatment programs, but not all patients can comply with this rather intense intervention, especially the more severely affected ones. Here, we aim to study the effectiveness of personalized and home-based (remote) speech therapy in PD on quality of life and speech. The intervention will be supported by a dedicated speech training app. We expect that this approach will improve speech intelligibility and quality of life in patients irrespective of disease stage. Methods We will perform a single blind, randomized controlled trial, comparing 8 weeks of speech therapy to no intervention using a waiting list design. A total of 215 PD patients with problems in intelligibility will be recruited by 12 highly experienced speech therapists. All patients will be measured at baseline and after 8 weeks (primary endpoint). Additionally, the experimental group will be re-assessed one more time, after a wash-out period of 24 weeks. The control group will receive deferred treatment after 8 weeks, but without additional follow-up assessments. Our primary outcome is quality of life (as measured with PDQ-39). Secondary outcomes include speech and voice quality, intelligibility, severity of voice and speech complaints, and caregiver burden. Results The inclusion of participants has started on March 1, 2019, and is expected to be finalized on April 1, 2021. We expect to have the first results in January 2022. Conclusions We will investigate the effectiveness of speech therapy in PD. Particular strengths of our study include a randomized and single-blinded design, the personalized treatment approach, the inclusion of PD patients irrespective of disease stage or severity of the speech complaint, the long-term follow-up, the adequate power, and the use of a patient-relevant primary endpoint. This will allow us to draw firm conclusions about the effectiveness of personalized and remote speech therapy for PD patients in all disease stages. Background: Females, people with young-onset PD and older individuals, and non-white populations are historically underrepresented in clinical Parkinson’s disease (PD) research. Furthermore, research traditionally focused predominantly on motor symptoms of PD. Including a representative and diverse group of people with PD and also studying non-motor symptoms is warranted to better understand heterogeneity in PD and to generalize research findings. Objective: This project aimed to determine whether, within a consecutive series of PD studies performed within a single center in the Netherlands: (1) the proportion of included females, mean age and proportion of native Dutch people changed over time; and 2) reports of the ethnicity of participants and the proportion of studies with non-motor outcomes changed over time. Methods: Characteristics of participants and non-motor outcomes were analyzed using a unique dataset of summary statistics of studies with a large number of participants conducted at a single center during a 19-year period (2003–2021). Results: Results indicate no relationship between calendar time and proportion of females (mean 39 %), mean age (66 years), proportion of studies that reported ethnicity, and proportion of native Dutch people in studies (range 97–100 %). The proportion of participants in whom non-motor symptoms were assessed increased, but this difference was consistent with chance. Conclusion: Study participants in this center reflect the PD population in the Netherlands in terms of sex, but older individuals and non-native Dutch individuals are under-represented. We have still a lot to do in ensuring adequate representation and diversity in PD patients within our research.

Aims: Tooth agenesis (TA) is common in Down syndrome (DS). It is unknown whether this agenesis occurs in specific patterns, which is important regarding treatment planning and aetiological research. This study aimed to aggregate and analyze patterns of TA, excluding third molars, in individuals with DS using the tooth agenesis code (TAC). Methods and results: The study was designed as a secondary analysis, following STROSA guidelines. The search (MEDLINE‐PubMed) and selection process resulted in six included studies encompassing 241 individuals with DS. TA data were systematically converted into TACs and analyzed per dentition, per jaw, and per tooth type. Symmetry was evaluated. The prediction was calculated for oligodontia. In the 155 cases with TA 86 distinct Overall‐TAC patterns were identified. The most common patterns were bilateral maxillary lateral incisor agenesis (TAC002.002.000.000;10.3%), bilateral mandibular second premolar agenesis (TAC000.000.016.016;5.8%), and unilateral left maxillary lateral incisor agenesis (TAC000.002.000.000;5.2%). Symmetry in TA patterns was observed in 49.6% of TA cases in the maxilla and 52.3% in the mandible. The simultaneous absence of both mandibular central incisors had a large predictive value for oligodontia (OR12.44;95% CI:4.97–31.84; p <.001). Conclusion: Predominant TA patterns exist in DS. Observation of mandibular central incisor agenesis can promote early diagnosis of oligodontia in DS. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: To report the study protocol and baseline characteristics of a prospective cohort study to evaluate longitudinal recovery trajectories of patients recovering from COVID-19 who have visited a primary care allied health professional. Design: Report of the protocol and baseline characteristics for a prospective cohort study with a mixed-methods approach. Patients: Patients recovering from COVID-19 treated by primary care dietitians, exercise therapists, occupational therapists, physical therapists and/or speech and language therapists in the Netherlands. Methods: The prospective study will measure primary outcome domains: participation, health-related quality of life, fatigue, physical functioning, and costs, at baseline, 3, 6, 9 and 12 months. Interviews, on the patients’ experiences with allied healthcare, will be held with a subsample of patients and allied health professionals. Results: The cohort comprises 1,451 patients (57% female, mean age 49 (standard deviation 13) years). Preliminary results for the study cohort show that 974 (67%) of the participants reported mild/moderate severity symptoms during the infection period and patients reported severe restrictions in activities of daily living compared with previous research in other patient populations. Both quantitative and qualitative, will provide insight into the recovery of patients who are treated by allied health professionals. Conclusion: In conclusion, this will be the first comprehensive study to longitudinally evaluate the recovery trajectories and related costs of patients recovering from COVID-19 who are treated by allied health professionals in the Netherlands. This study will provide evidence for the optimal strategy to treat patients recovering from COVID-19 infection, including which patients benefit, and to what extent, from treatment, and which factors might impact their recovery course over time. The preliminary results of this study demonstrated the severity of restrictions and complaints at the start of therapy are substantial. LAY ABSTRACT This paper presents the protocol for a prospective study of patients recovering from COVID-19 who are treated by allied health professionals in Dutch primary care. In the forthcoming study, a total of 1,451 patients will be asked to complete questionnaires regarding their social participation in daily life, health-related quality of life, fatigue, physical functioning, and healthcare and societal costs at baseline, 3, 6, 9 (costs only) and 12 months. Furthermore, the allied health professionals will answer questions at the start and end of treatments. This report presents baseline characteristics for the study cohort. Initial findings indicate that patients in the current cohort report severe restrictions in activities of daily living compared with previous studies of other patient populations. This report also describes the protocol of the prospective study, which aims to longitudinally evaluate the recovery trajectories and related costs of patients recovering from COVID-19.

BackgroundThere is a general agreement on the importance of health-related quality of life (HRQoL). This type of information is becoming increasingly important for the value assessment of health technology assessment agencies in evaluating the benefits of new health technologies, including medicines. However, HRQoL data are often limited, and additional sources that provide this type of information may be helpful. ObjectiveWe aim to identify the HRQoL topics important to patients with melanoma based on web-based discussions on public social media forums. MethodsWe identified 3 public web-based forums from the United States and the United Kingdom, namely the Melanoma Patient Information Page, the Melanoma International Forum, and MacMillan. Their posts were randomly selected and coded using qualitative methods until saturation was reached. ResultsOf the posts assessed, 36.7% (150/409) of posts on Melanoma International Forum, 45.1% (198/439) on MacMillan, and 35.4% (128/362) on Melanoma Patient Information Page focused on HRQoL. The 2 themes most frequently mentioned were mental health and (un)certainty. The themes were constructed based on underlying and more detailed codes. Codes related to fear, worry and anxiety, uncertainty, and unfavorable effects were the most-often discussed ones. ConclusionsWeb-based forums are a valuable source for identifying relevant HRQoL aspects in patients with a given disease. These aspects could be cross-referenced with existing tools and they might improve the content validity of patient-reported outcome measures, including HRQoL questionnaires. In addition, web-based forums may provide health technology assessment agencies with a more holistic understanding of the external aspects affecting patient HRQoL. These aspects might support the value assessment of new health technologies and could therefore help inform topic prioritization as well as the scoping phase before any value assessment.

People with Parkinson's disease (PD) experience a range of progressive motor and non-motor symptoms, that negatively affect their daily functioning, social participation and quality of life. Allied health therapies have emerged as an effective treatment approach—complementary to pharmacological and neurosurgical treatments—which reduces the impact of PD in daily life. In this article, we propose criteria for what constitutes specialized allied health care for PD, and we review allied health research in PD in terms of meeting these criteria and its outcomes for monodisciplinary approaches as well as multi- or interdisciplinary allied health interventions. We focus on the three most studied allied health disciplines in PD: physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech-language therapy. Overall, the available evidence underscores the importance and potential benefits of specialized allied health care for people with PD. Our proposed criteria and recommendations for future research might help in further delineating specialized allied health care. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Communication problems with their caregivers are common in people with dementia. Although interventions for improvement of communication are being developed, a tool to measure how participants experience their communication is lacking. The objective of this article is to describe the development of a questionnaire that measures the “experienced communication” of persons with dementia (ECD-P) as well as of their caregivers (ECD-C). Interviews were conducted with five person with dementia—caregiver dyads who had recently received a new communication intervention. Reflexive thematic analysis was performed on the transcripts using ATLAS.ti. Codes were created, categories and themes were identified, and items for the questionnaires were generated. Selection of items and response scales was done in collaboration with the same dyads. The final version was established after pilot testing with seven other dyads and discussion with five experts in the field of dementia care. Analysis of the transcripts resulted in 212 codes and 17 categories within four themes: caregiver competence, social communication, communication difficulties in daily life, and experienced emotions during conversations. The final version of the ECD-P consists of part 1 with 22 items and 4-point Likert scales, and part 2 with two items and 1 to 10 scales. In the final ECD-C (proxy version), part 1 and part 2 are similar to the ECD-P, while a part 3 was added to assess caregivers’ own perspective and emotions (five items). Based on the experiences of people with dementia and their caregivers, we constructed a face-valid questionnaire. This justifies future research to test its clinimetric characteristics.

Abstract Standard outcome sets developed by the International Consortium for Health Outcomes Measurement (ICHOM) facilitate value‐based health care in healthcare practice and have gained traction from regulators and Health Technology Assessment (HTA) agencies that regularly assess the value of new medicines. We aimed to assess the extent to which the outcomes used by regulators and HTA agencies are patient‐relevant, by comparing these to ICHOM standard sets. We conducted a cross‐sectional comparative analysis of ICHOM standard sets, and publicly available regulatory and HTA assessment guidelines. We focused on oncology due to many new medicines being developed, which are accompanied by substantial uncertainty regarding the relevance of these treatments for patients. A comparison of regulatory and HTA assessment guidelines, and ICHOM standard sets showed that both ICHOM and regulators stress the importance of disease‐specific outcomes. On the other hand, HTA agencies have a stronger focus on generic outcomes in order to allow comparisons across disease areas. Overall, similar outcomes are relevant for market access, reimbursement, and in ICHOM standard sets. However, some differences are apparent, such as the acceptability of intermediate outcomes. These are recommended in ICHOM standard sets, but regulators are more likely to accept intermediate outcomes than HTA agencies. A greater level of alignment in outcomes accepted may enhance the efficiency of regulatory and HTA processes, and increase timely access to new medicines. ICHOM standard sets may help align these outcomes. However, some differences in outcomes used may remain due to the different purposes of regulatory and HTA decision‐making.

Abstract Purpose Development of innovative drugs for melanoma is occurring rapidly. Incremental gains in overall survival amongst innovative products may be difficult to measure in clinical trials, and their use may be associated with increased toxicity profiles. Therefore, HTA agencies increasingly require information on HRQoL for the assessment of such drugs. This study explored the feasibility of social media to assess patient perspectives on HRQoL in melanoma, and whether current cancer- and melanoma-specific HRQoL questionnaires represent these perspectives. Methods A survey was distributed on the social media channels of Melanoma Patient Network Europe to assess melanoma patients’ perspectives regarding HRQoL. Two researchers independently conducted content analysis to identify key themes, which were subsequently compared to questions from one current cancer-specific and two melanoma-specific HRQoL questionnaires (i.e. EORTC QLQ-C30, EORTC QLQ-MEL38, FACT-M). Results In total, 72 patients and 17 carers completed the survey. Patients indicated that family, having a normal life, and enjoying life were the three most important aspects of HRQoL for them. Carers indicated that being capable, having manageable adverse events, and being pain-free were the three most important aspects of HRQoL for patients. Respondents seem to find some questions from HRQoL questionnaires relevant (e.g. ‘Have you felt able to carry on with things as normal?’) and others less relevant (e.g. ‘Have you had swelling near your melanoma site?’). Additionally, wording may differ between patients and HRQoL questionnaires, whereby patients generally use a more positive tone. Conclusions Social media may provide a valuable tool in assessing patient perspectives regarding HRQoL. However, differences seem to emerge between patient and carer perspectives. Additionally, patient perspectives did not seem to fully correlate to questions posed in cancer- (i.e. EORTC QLQ-C30) and melanoma-specific (i.e. EORTC QLQ-MEL38, FACT-M) HRQoL questionnaires examined.

Background: Toothbrushing, limiting intake frequency, and scheduled visits to an oral healthcare professional (OHP) are key for good oral health. We aimed to explore factors influencing these oral health behaviours in Dutch adolescents with mild to borderline intellectual disabilities (MBID) in residential care. Method: Using a qualitative, descriptive approach, we conducted focus groups and interviews with 12 adolescents, 9 counsellors, and 6 OHPs. Thematic analysis mapped factors influencing adolescents' knowledge, attitude, planning, and execution of oral health behaviours to oral care stakeholders. Results: Of nine identified influencing factors, three were pivotal: Structure (influencing toothbrushing and intake frequency), Anxiety (impeding dental visits), and Support (provided by counsellors). Conclusions: Counsellors should provide structured daily guidance on oral hygiene and diet for adolescents with MBID, while respecting the adolescents' autonomy. As intermediaries between adolescents and OHPs, counsellors are key in reducing dental anxiety. Counsellors need clear oral health policies within care facilities to address competing priorities. This study aims to investigate economic development in the digital economy and uncover trends and insights that might contribute to future research. Furthermore, the study, examining English-language publications from 2000 to 2023 in the Web of Science Core Collection, employs bibliometric and content analysis to statistically evaluate the field of economic development in the digital economy. Co-citation, co-authorship, and bibliographical coupling analyses revealed China, the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and "Sustainability" as the leading influencers in terms of country, institution, and journal, respectively. Five key themes emerged: (1) the interplay between digital technologies and economic growth, (2) leveraging digital tools for businesses, (3) the applications and impacts of diverse digital technologies across sectors, (4) the broader social implications of the digital economy, and (5) government policies for fostering digital economic progress.
