In this paper, we give a detailed introduction to the theory of (curved) L ∞ -algebras and L ∞ -morphisms, avoiding the concept of operads and providing explicit formulas. In particular, we recall the notion of (curved) Maurer–Cartan elements, their equivalence classes and the twisting procedure. The main focus is then the study of the homotopy theory of L ∞ -algebras and L ∞ -modules. In particular, one can interpret L ∞ -morphisms and morphisms of L ∞ -modules as Maurer–Cartan elements in certain L ∞ -algebras, and we show that twisting the morphisms with equivalent Maurer–Cartan elements yields homotopic morphisms. We hope that these notes provide an accessible entry point to the theory of L ∞ -algebras. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The global formality of Dolgushev depends on the choice of a torsion-free covariant derivative. We prove that the globalized formalities with respect to two different covariant derivatives are homotopic. More explicitly, we derive the statement by proving a more general homotopy equivalence between L∞-morphisms that are twisted with gauge equivalent Maurer-Cartan elements. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this paper we propose a reduction scheme for polydifferential operators phrased in terms of $L_\infty$-morphisms. The desired reduction $L_\infty$-morphism has been obtained by applying an explicit version of the homotopy transfer theorem. Finally, we prove that the reduced star product induced by this reduction $L_\infty$-morphism and the reduced star product obtained via the formal Koszul complex are equivalent., 27 pages, comments are welcome!

We report on extensive studies on the intrinsic sensitivity of a combined 3He/Cs magnetometer. The magnetometer relies on the detection of the free spin precession of nuclear spin polarized 3He by optically pumped cesium magnetometers. We characterize the relevant processes involved in the detection and quantify their impact on the total sensitivity of the magnetometer. An expression is derived that predicts the sensitivity of this magnetometer scheme and the results are compared to experiments. Excellent agreement is found between theory and experiments, and implications for an application of a 3He/Cs magnetometer in an experiment searching for a permanent neutron electric dipole moment are discussed. LIE algebras ,TAYLOR'S series - Abstract
Abstract. In this paper, we propose a reduction scheme for multivector fields phrased in terms of L
∞ -morphisms. Using well-known geometric properties of the reduced manifolds, we perform a Taylor expansion of multivector fields, which allows us to build up a suitable deformation retract of differential graded Lie algebras (DGLAs). We first obtained an explicit formula for the L∞ - projection and -inclusion of generic DGLA retracts.We then applied this formula to the deformation retract that we constructed in the case of multivector fields on reduced manifolds. This allows us to obtain the desired reduction L∞ -morphism. Finally, we perform a comparison with other reduction procedures. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]- Published

Background: Historically, fashion was not always gendered. After the Great Masculine Renunciation however, men relinquished their rights to excess of physical aesthetics and being ‘beautiful’. Cultural masculinity and gendered norms have since impacted male fashion and constrained the western male look to being understated and practical. Recently, new male icons have surfaced. Certain celebrity appearances have received coverage by popular media, since they are exhibiting a more androgynous and diverse take on masculinity than what is normally presented in the public sphere. There is a hype surrounding this, displayed online. Increasing sales of menswear also indicates that this hype surrounding men’s fashion might be spreading to the general public. This phenomenon inspires speculation about whether or not the average western millennial man actually adopt this new trend they are said to be the leaders of. Purpose: The purpose of this thesis is to examine and describe the relationship that the millennial men have with fashion, with regards to attitude, subjective norms, and behaviour. Methodology: The research builds on a pragmatist philosophy which allows both interpretivist and positivist positions. This allowed a quantitative method to be conducted, using an abductive approach. The data was collected through a survey, using quantitative questions. The acquired data and was analysed through descriptive statistics. Findings: The main findings show that millennial men should not be treated as a single homogenous cohort in research surrounding fashion. The findings also demonstrate a clear shift in men’s attitudes towards shopping and fashion, showing that it is not a feminine activity. However, the attitude towards “the new style of men” is quite scattered. Thus, it seems that this hype around changing male fashion has only started trickling down from the niche community that is considered to be leading this change. Regarding their behaviour, most men still prefer buying clothes from a brick-and-mortar store and do not use the online environment actively to seek out and consume fashion.

Physics::Atomic Physics - Abstract
We describe a method for recording the Rabi nutation of nuclear spin polarized ³He by optically pumped cesium magnetometers. The measurement is performed by detecting the time-dependent magnetic field produced by the 3He magnetization. The observed signals are compared to theoretical models and the results are used to precisely trace the evolution of the magnetization. This procedure represents a convenient way to control and measure the Rabi flip angle and the degree of spin polarization in experiments using 3He magnetometers. The method requires only very coarse knowledge of the applied magnetic field’s magnitude.

Hexakis-substituted [60]fullerene adducts with icosahedral symmetry provide an unprecedented scaffold for the spatial arrangement of twelve functional groups with high geometric precision. This unique molecular symmetry identifies such polyfunctional organic building blocks as potential highly connective linkers for coordination polymer and metal-organic framework synthesis. Hereby, the linker exhibits a higher connectivity than the metal ions and with the main connectivity based on the ligand, this can create a new type of inversely cross-linked framework. Two hexakis adducts bearing either twelve glycolic acid or 3-hydroxypropionic acid side chains attached to its malonate units were incorporated as organic connectivity centers in the first fullerene-containing three-dimensional frameworks by coordination with Zn2+. - Abstract
Demand in mobile application becomes higher and increasing functionality is the key for success in today's product design, more and more sensors will be built into this kind of new devices. As optical and imaging functions are considered core features, a lot of these new functions are realized using miniaturized or micro optics. In the last decade, micro optics manufacturing has reached a high level of confidence and is supposed to be one of the manufacturing technologies to address future requirements for even smaller and thinner devices. In this report we will look at the processes used in UV replication of micro optics, like micro lenses for wafer level cameras, as well as flash lenses for mobile phone LED applications. One of the key challenges when using final assembled micro optics is an accurate placement to the sensor unit. Results of printed micro lenses, as well as placement accuracy in active alignment processes will be shown. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]

Multivalent organic molecules possessing spherically well-arranged functionalities are promising building blocks for extended molecular networks. [60]Fullerene hexakisadducts are intriguing candidates allowing the organization of up to 12 functional groups within one molecule with high geometric precision. We have synthesized a hexakisadduct bearing 12 glycolic acid side-chains in good yield and with high regioisomeric purity and elucidated its solid-state structure from single crystals grown by the slow diffusion of dichloromethane into a methanol solution. Individual fullerene moieties are arranged in cubic close-packing mode and form an extended network by means of multiple supramolecular interactions. Each molecule forms 24 hydrogen bonds and is connected to six neighbouring fullerene derivatives. The crystal structure showcases the first example of a 3D arrangement of fullerene derivatives by directed hydrogen bonding in the solid state. These findings indicate the high potential of six-fold substituted fullerene derivatives as building blocks for crystalline frameworks. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
Teletext will be one of the first and most prominent multimedia services offered in digital television networks. Teletext is well known and has already been available for many years in analogue television in Europe and elsewhere as an additional service provided by television operators. Digital Broadcast technology allows to enhance this kind of service in quality and functionality. Digital Television technology provides many advantages in comparison to the analogue distribution methods, such as possible reuse of content from Internet-based services, improved navigation, better layout capabilities and support of animated content. These capabilities give more freedom to the application designers. However, it is yet undecided which application format is best suited for Digital Television Networks. In order to develop a large market it is required to consider standardised formats to ensure interoperability between different service providers. Unfortunately, various industrial consortia such as DVB/MHP, ATSC/DASE and DigiTAG are working on different solutions. The formats have to be supported by the designers of the applications, the network operators and the end systems, and specific tools have to be developed to enable application production taking the advantages of the new technology into account. This paper discusses various aspects of the production of Teletext applications for Digital Television Broadcast. The authoring system presented here is based on a generic approach to describe the applications' layout and behaviour utilising XML data representation, templates and server-side scripting. The system is independent of the final interchange format and can generate several different representations such as MHEG-5 and XHTML to meet the requirements of upcoming broadcast environments and to enable publication of applications in the Internet using the same content source. Navigation style-guides are covered and techniques to create applications and the associated content via server-side scripts are discussed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
[60]Fullerene hexakisadducts possessing 12 carboxylic acid side chains form crystalline hydrogen-bonding frameworks in the solid state. Depending on the length of the linker between the reactive sites and the malonate units, the distance of the [60]fullerene nodes and thereby the spacing of the frameworks can be controlled and for the most elongated derivative, continuous channels are obtained within the structure. Stability, structural integrity and porosity of the material were investigated by powder X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetry and sorption measurements.
