The detection of specific gas components under various working conditions while at the same time realizing other functions with the same devices has emerged through great efforts due to these devices' superior energy-saving and high-efficiency properties. Although so-called multifunctional gas sensors have been fabricated with various novel materials, two-dimensional (2D) materials with unique physical and chemical properties used in multifunctional gas sensors have not yet been well studied. In this review, we summarize up-to-date multifunctional gas sensors based on different 2D materials, including graphene and its derivatives, transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs), MXenes, etc. The progress of machine learning and artificial intelligence used in emerging powerful sensors is introduced. Their sensing abilities and mechanisms are discussed, and further smart devices equipped with IoT platforms and 5G communication are expected for future electronic use. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A method for the synthesis of vinyl selenides via Cu‐catalyzed three‐component reactions of arylboronic acids, Se powder and diarylethylenes has been developed. The reaction proceeds via addition of in situ generated selenium‐centered radical to carbon‐carbon double bond. Photoinduced hydroxylation of boronic acids with molecular oxygen under photocatalyst-free conditions is reported, providing a green entry to a variety of phenols and aliphatic alcohols in a highly concise fashion. Background: Even after achieving complete remission (CR), many acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) patients suffer from poor haematopoietic recovery after chemotherapy. Previous studies have shown that the damage of bone marrow endothelial progenitor cell (BM EPC) hinders haematopoietic recovery after chemotherapy in mice. Therefore, elucidation of the mechanism and repair strategy of chemotherapy-induced BM EPC damage is urgent needed., Methods: The prospective case-control study enrolled 40 AML patients after CR (CR patients), who received idarubicin and cytarabine (IA) regimen (n = 20), or homoharringtonine, aclarubicin and cytarabine (HAA) regimen (n = 20) as induction chemotherapy, and their age-matched healthy controls (HCs, n = 20). The HSPG2 expression level in BM EPCs and BM plasma were determined via flow cytometry and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays. The BM EPC's functions were evaluated by apoptosis, reactive oxygen species (ROS) level, migration and tube formation assays. The haematopoiesis-supporting ability and leukaemia cell-supporting ability of BM EPCs were assessed through coculture assay. Moreover, RNA sequencing and qPCR were performed to further explore the underlying mechanism., Results: HSPG2 levels decreased in both the BM plasma and BM EPCs of CR patients after IA and HAA induction chemotherapy. Moreover, the BM EPC's functions of CR patients were reduced. In vitro experiments demonstrated that the HSPG2 gene knockdown or cytosine arabinoside treatment led to BM EPC dysfunction, whereas the HSPG2 treatment promoted repair of the BM EPC function in vitro. In addition, we found that the HSPG2 treatment restored the BM EPC function from CR patients without affecting their leukaemia cell-supporting ability. Mechanistically, BM EPC functions and haematopoietic regulation-related genes were significantly decreased after the HSPG2 gene knockdown., Conclusion: Our findings demonstrate a significant role of HSPG2 in BM EPC functions. This discovery uncovers that HSPG2 is a potential therapeutic target for promoting the BM EPC function of AML-CR patients after chemotherapy., Highlights: The HSPG2 level in the BM EPCs of AML-CR patients was decreased, which was related to the reduced BM EPC function. HSPG2 knockdown or Ara-C intervention reduced the HSPG2 level and led to BM EPC dysfunction, which could be restored by HSPG2 treatment in vitro. Presented in this work is a novel methodology for the synthesis of selenated benzofurans (or benzothiophenes) via AgNO 2 -catalyzed radical cyclization of 2-alkynylanisoles (or 2-alkynylthioanisoles), Se powder, and arylboronic acids. This method enables the construction of a benzofuran (benzothiophene) ring, two C-Se bonds, and a C-O(S) bond as well as the cleavage of a C-O(S) bond in a single step. Preliminary mechanistic studies imply that the AgNO 2 -catalyzed cyclization proceeds via an aryl selenium radical intermediate.

Methylprednisolone markedly reduces autophagy and apoptosis after secondary spinal cord injury. Here, we investigated whether pretreatment of cells with methylprednisolone would protect neuron-like cells from subsequent oxidative damage via suppression of autophagy and apoptosis. Cultured N2a cells were pretreated with 10 µM methylprednisolone for 30 minutes, then exposed to 100 µM H2O2 for 24 hours. Inverted phase contrast microscope images, MTT assay, flow cytometry and western blot results showed that, compared to cells exposed to 100 µM H2O2 alone, cells pretreated with methylprednisolone had a significantly lower percentage of apoptotic cells, maintained a healthy morphology, and showed downregulation of autophagic protein light chain 3B and Beclin-1 protein expression. These findings indicate that methylprednisolone exerted neuroprotective effects against oxidative damage by suppressing autophagy and apoptosis.
