30. Identification of new subtypes and potential genetic signatures in triple-negative breast cancer using weighted gene co-expression network analysis.

Abstract

OBJECTIVE: Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is a heterogeneous disease with aggressive behavior and poor prognosis. Here, we used gene expression profiling to define new subtypes of TNBC, which may improve prevention and treatment through personalized medicine. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Gene expression profiles from the public datasets GSE76250, GSE61724, GSE61723, and GES76275 were subjected to co-expression analysis to identify differentially expressed genes (DEGs) between TNBC and non-TNBC tissues. Consistency clustering was used to define TNBC subtypes, whose correlation with gene modules was analyzed. Enrichment analysis was used to identify module genes' biological functions and pathways. Single-sample gene set enrichment analysis was used to assess immune cell infiltration in the different TNBC subtypes, and the ChAMP package was used to examine methylation sites in TNBC. RESULTS: A total of 4,958 DEGs in TNBC were identified, which showed the same expression differences across all datasets as in the dataset GSE76250 and clustered into 9 co-expression modules. TNBC samples clustered into two subtypes based on nine hub genes from the modules. Class I showed the most significant correlation with module 1, whose genes were related mainly to interleukin-1 response, while class II showed the most significant correlation with module 6, whose genes were related mainly to the transforming growth factor-β pathway. Class I was significantly enriched in cell cycle and DNA replication, and tumors of this subtype showed lower immune cell infiltration than class II tumors. Tumor infiltration by Th2 cells correlated positively with the expression of MCM10 and negatively with the expression of PREX2. A greater methylation of CIDEC, DLC1, EDNRB, EGR2 and SRPK1 correlated with better prognosis. CONCLUSIONS: Class I TNBC, for which a useful biomarker is MCM10, may be associated with a worse prognosis than class II TNBC, for which PREX2 may serve as a biomarker. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

In the double-cone ignition scheme, compressed fuels in two head-on cones are ejected to collide, forming a colliding plasma with an isochoric distribution for rapid heating by high flux fast electrons from picosecond petawatt laser beams in the perpendicular direction from the cone axis. In this work, we investigate the effects of quantum degeneracy on the transport of fast electrons in the colliding plasma, which rapidly evolves from the quantum degenerate in the outer region of the plasma to the classical state in the concentric core region heated by the colliding fronts of the plasma jets. With large scale particle-in-cell simulations, it is found that the self-generated magnetic field generated by the transport of fast electrons in the quantum degenerate state at the outer region is much stronger than in the corresponding classical state with the same fuel density in the core region. Theoretical analysis of the growth of the self-generated magnetic field is developed to explain the simulation results. Such strong self-generated magnetic fields in the quantum degenerate states can pinch the axially injected fast electrons to deposit their energy in the concentric core region, improving the heating efficiency for fast ignition.

34. Effect of CeO2 addition on wear, corrosion and resistance to thermal fatigue of induction heating Ni-WC coatings

Abstract

Ni-WC composite coatings with different rare earth CeO2 additions were prepared on the substrate of 45 steel by induction heating. The wear resistance, corrosion resistance and resistance to thermal fatigue of the coating were checked with a self-made friction and wear tester, a medium-sized salt spray corrosion tank and a box-type resistance furnace. Meanwhile, the microstructure and WC morphology of each coating were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy to assist in the analysis of performance changes. The results show that the 0,5 / % CeO2 content helps to refine the grain size and the WC morphology, and that the 0,5 / % CeO2 content coating has the highest wear resistance, corrosion resistance and resistance to thermal fatigue.

Abstract

The application of nutrients has a significant impact on cherry tomato fruit yield and quality. In a greenhouse experiment, a popular local cherry tomato cultivar (Lycopersicon esculentum var. cerasiforme Alef), namely 'Yuekeda 101' was grown under various fertilization conditions. In this study, the yield, agronomic traits, and fruit quality of cherry tomatoes were determined to evaluate the effect of fertilization treatment on cherry tomato growth. Results showed that the fertilization treatment significantly affected the growth, yield, fruit quality, and nutrition accumulation in the cherry tomato plants. The T1 treatment (without reduction of the chemical + application of humic acid fertilizer) harvested the highest fruit yield per plant (1195.0 g). Additional applications of humic acid fertilizer might benefit cherry tomatoes to achieve a balance between fruit yield and quality. Variations in cherry tomato yield and fruit quality are correlated with the nutrient content of the plant's various tissues. The treatment without reduction of the chemical with the application of the humic acid could balance the yield and fruit quality of cherry tomatoes. The results of this study suggested that the administration of a combination of fertilizers could regulate the growth and nutrient accumulation of cherry tomato plants, thereby influencing their yield and fruit quality.
