Nuclear energy, as an important component of the power system, has become a key focus of future energy development research. Various equipment and pipelines in nuclear power plants require regular inspection, maintenance, and repair. The pipelines in nuclear power plants are typically large, necessitating a device that can locally isolate sections of the pipeline during maintenance operations. Ice plug freezing technology, an economical and efficient method for maintaining and replacing equipment without shutdown, has been widely applied in nuclear power plants. The structure of the ice plug jacket, a type of low-temperature jacket heat exchanger, affects the flow path of the working fluid within the jacket and consequently impacts heat transfer. This study utilizes Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to establish five types of jacket structures: standard, center-offset (center-in, side-out), helical, helical fin, and labyrinth. The effects of different structures on the freezing characteristics of ice plugs are analyzed and compared. The research indicates that the labyrinth jacket enhances the heat transfer performance between liquid nitrogen and the liquid inside the pipe, forming a larger ice layer at the same liquid nitrogen flow rate. Objective: To understand the distribution and infection status of hantavirus in Myomorph rodents on Bolshoy Ussuriysky Island (Heixiazi Island) at the Sino-Russian border, and to provide data for the safe development and utilization of Bolshoy Ussuriysky Island. Methods: In 2013 and 2014, Myomorph rodents were trapped on Bolshoy Ussuriysky Island. Total RNA was extracted from rodent tissue, and it was screened for hantavirus RNA by using reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction. Univariate and multivariate nonconditional logistic regression analysis was used to analyze the RNA prevalence rates in eight species of rodents, in relation to species, sex, age, habitat, and season. In addition, PCR amplicons were sequenced and phylogenetic analysis was performed by using Mega 5.1 software. Results: Six hundred forty-four rodents belonging to three orders, five families, and eight genera were trapped. Fifty-two rodents were infected with hantavirus, and the rate of RNA detection was 8.07%. The infection rates of rodents in different habitats ( χ2 = 14.853, p < 0.05) and different seasons ( χ2 = 16.990, p < 0.05) showed significant differences. A logistic regression analysis showed that habitat and trapping season were risk factors of hantavirus infection ( p < 0.05). Phylogenetic analysis showed that the gene sequences of positive samples were Hantaan virus and Khabarovsk virus. Conclusion: There are two types of hantaviruses, such as HTNV (in Apodemus agrarius, Clethrionomys rutilus, Microtus fortis, Rattus norvegicus) and KHAV (in C. rutilus), among the rodents on Bolshoy Ussuriysky Island, and season and habitat are risk factors of hantavirus infection. Background: Streptococcal superantigens (SAgs) are the major virulence factors of infection in humans for group A Streptococcus (GAS) bacteria. A panel consisting of seven duplex real-time PCR assays was developed to simultaneously detect 13 streptococcal SAgs and one internal control which may be important in the control of GAS-mediated diseases., Methods: Primer and probe sequences were selected based on the highly conserved region from an alignment of nucleotide sequences of the 13 streptococcal SAgs. The reaction conditions of the duplex real-time PCR were optimized and the specificity of the duplex assays was evaluated using SAg positive strains. The limit of detection of the duplex assays was determined by using 10-fold serial dilutions of the DNA of 13 streptococcal SAgs and compared to a conventional polymerase chain reaction (PCR) method for evaluating the duplex assays sensitivity., Results: Using the duplex assays, we were able to differentiate between 13 SAgs from Streptococcus strains and other non-Streptococcus bacteria without cross-reaction. On the other hand, the limit of detection of the duplex assays was at least one or two log dilutions lower than that of the conventional PCR., Conclusions: The panel was highly specific (100%) and the limit of detection of these duplex groups was at least ten times lower than that obtained by using a conventional PCR method.

The continued spread of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) viruses of H5 and H7 subtypes and low pathogenic avian influenza (LPAI) viruses of H5, H7 and H9 subtypes in birds and the subsequent infections in humans pose an ongoing pandemic threat. It has been proposed that poultry workers are at higher risk of exposure to HPAI or LPAI viruses and subsequently infection due to their repeated exposure to chickens or domestic waterfowl. The aim of this study was to examine the seroprevalence of antibodies against H5, H7 and H9 viruses amongst duck-related workers in Beijing, China and the risk factors associated with seropositivity. In March, 2011, 1741 participants were recruited from (1) commercial duck-breeding farms; (2) private duck-breeding farms; and (3) duck-slaughtering farms. Local villagers who bred ducks in their backyards were also recruited. A survey was administered by face-to-face interview, and blood samples were collected from subjects for antibody testing against H5, H7 and H9 viruses. We found that none of the subjects were seropositive for either H5 or H7 viruses, and only 0.7% (12/1741) had antibody against H9. A statistically significant difference in H9 antibody seroprevalence existed between the various categories of workers (P = 0.005), with the highest figures recorded amongst the villagers (1.7%). Independent risk factors associated with seropositivity toinfection with H9 virus included less frequent disinfection of worksite (OR, 5.13 [95% CI, 1.07-24.58]; P = 0.041; ≤ twice monthly versus>twice monthly) and handling ducks with wounds on hands (OR, 4.13 [95% CI, 1.26-13.57]; P = 0.019). Whilst the risk of infection with H5, H7 and H9 viruses appears to be low among duck-related workers in Beijing, China, ongoing monitoring of infection with the H9 virus is still warranted, especially amongst villagers who breed backyard ducks to monitor for any changes.
