Refresh rate is an important specification for gaming OLED monitors. With the development of the gaming industry and the graphics processing unit (GPU), the demand for gaming monitors that supporting high refresh rates is increasing. In this paper, simulation methods for perceived motion blur are proposed to predict the degree of blur according to the refresh rate. Experimental results indicate that the proposed simulation methods are quite effective in predicting the degree of motion blur. To provide clear see‐through image quality is one of the most important performances of a transparent display, because of its see‐through capability. Purity is one of the quantitative measure can evaluate the see‐through image quality in terms of perceived blurriness. In this paper, the characteristics of purity are investigated. Experimental results indicate that the purity values have highly correlated with perceptual blurriness of see‐through images. Furthermore, the perceptual limit of purity value is also derived. In‐Plane Switching (IPS) liquid crystal display (LCD) is one of leading technologies in display industrials because of its superior picture quality. This paper provides picture quality of high contrast IPS LCD in terms of color contrast, dynamic range, color expression and PQ‐EOTF accuracy in HDR compared to conventional IPS LCD. Furthermore, to evaluate its performance as a gaming display, reaction time between two IPS LCDs have different contrast ratio was tested. Experimental results indicate that observer's reaction time for high contrast IPS LCD was faster than conventional IPS LCD because of superior color contrast and color gamut at low luminance level. OLED TVs have clear picture quality with a perfect visible angle, perfect black luminance and boast faster response times than LCD TVs. Therefore, the study major contents are Benefits of emitting devices (OLED TV) in terms of visual perception. The first study, we investigated the effects of the peripheral vision luminance level (PVL) and field of view (FOV) on the display brightness perceived by the observer. The results revealed that the lower the black luminance of the display and the smaller the viewing field of the peak luminance image, the higher the relative brightness perceived by the HVS. This study compared the effects of 4K organic light‐emitting diode (OLED) and liquid‐crystal display (LCD) TVs on human visual task performance and fatigue when viewing moving pictures. In experiments conducted, subjects were asked to locate 35 icons among a total of 276 on‐screen icons at four moving picture speeds. From the results obtained, it was determined that OLED TVs (emissive type) exhibit superior characteristics for hit rate and false alarm rate compared with LCD TVs (non‐emissive‐type). The evaluation results of a simulator sickness questionnaire administered to ascertain fatigue levels also indicated that OLED TVs induce relatively little fatigue at fast‐moving picture speeds of 10 ppf or more compared with LCD TVs. Considerable research effort has been devoted to enhancing perceived display brightness by improving the display luminance level. However, studies have shown that the human visual system (HVS) is influenced not only by physical luminance but also by other factors, such as adaptation to the surrounding luminance. Therefore, enhancing the maximum display luminance alone cannot be an optimal solution. In this study, we investigated the effects of the peripheral vision luminance (PVL) level and field of view (FOV) on the display brightness perceived by the observer, by using Stevens' brightness function, irrespective of the effect of adaptation to surround luminance. The analysis of the experimental results revealed that the perceived display brightness is inversely related to the level of peripheral vision luminance on the display. It was also found that, whereas increase in FOV results in an increase in the absolute brightness value, it reduces the effect of PVL on the perceived display brightness. This study investigated the effects of the curvature of curved computer displays on the visual performance, fatigue, and emotional image quality experienced by users during the performance of visual tasks. The characteristics of curved displays were compared and analyzed for different curvatures to investigate whether the curved displays showed improvements in terms of convenience of use when compared with flat displays. The visual performance results for the evaluated displays can be classified into three groups according to their response times, as (2000R = 2500R) > (3000R) > (3800R = 4500R = Flat). The visual fatigue results for average pupil size during a search task was 3.468 mm for flat and 3.355 mm for 2000R. This means that a 2000R curved display was found to be easier to use and thus generated less visual fatigue than a flat display when performing the same visual search task. Further, the results indicated that visual performance improved and visual fatigue decreased significantly as curvature increased. In this study, a curvature limit of 1700R was derived, when considering the image distortion of a 34‐in 21:9 curved display, and there was found to be no difference in the emotional image quality at curvatures greater than 2000R. Recently, the gamma subcommittee of the International Committee for Display Metrology has adopted various gamma measurement methods in Information Display Measurements Standard. This article describes further tests including perceptual verification of the suggested measurement methods. In order to verify the suggested measurement method, visual assessment has been carried out. Image sticking and lifetime issues have been hot topics throughout the history of display devices. This paper describes the effect of the usage of contents to evaluate image sticking of display devices. Two different experiments were carried out to find the usage effect for different application such as mobile and TV using OLED products.
