(1) Background: The "bird dog" exercise is considered one of the most effective therapeutic exercises for lumbopelvic rehabilitation and the prevention and treatment of low back pain. The "standing bird dog" (SBD) exercise, executed in a single-leg stance, constitutes a natural and challenging variation in the "bird dog"; nevertheless, this exercise has not yet been investigated. This study provides a stabilometric and electromyographic analysis of the SBD performed in static and dynamic conditions and in ipsilateral and contralateral variations; (2) Methods: A time-synchronized motion capture system, wireless electromyography sensors, and triaxial force platform were used to analyze the selected SBD exercises; (3) Results: In dynamic conditions, the gluteus maximum, multifidus, lumbar erector spinae, and gluteus medius reached a mean activation level higher than in the static condition, with peak activation levels of 80%, 60%, 55%, and a 45% maximum voluntary isometric contraction, respectively. In the static condition, balance control was more challenging in the mediolateral compared to the anteroposterior direction. In the dynamic condition, the balance challenge was higher in the anteroposterior direction and higher than the static condition in both directions; (4) Conclusions: The SBD was proved to be effective for strengthening the hip and lumbar extensor muscles and provided a powerful challenge to single-leg balance control in both mediolateral and anteroposterior directions. Purpose: The research work aimed to perform the mathematical modelling-based assessment concerning the effect of the position of the pelvis in the sagittal plane on loads present in the musculoskeletal system in the standing position. Methods: The analysis of the effect of various positions of the pelvis was performed using the Free Posture Model in the AnyBody Modeling System software. Simulated positions involving various values of pelvis inclination ranged from the extreme pelvic retroposition (- 7°) through normative values (0-23°) to the extreme pelvic anteversion (33°). Results: The lowest resultant reaction forces in the intervertebral joints recorded for an angle of inclination restricted within the range of 9° to 27° and segment L5-S1 amounted to less than 0.7 BW. A change in the pelvic inclination from the normative values towards retroposition or anteversion resulted in the increased muscular activity of the erector spinae, transverse abdominal muscles as well as internal and external oblique muscles. As regards the lower limbs, changes in the activity were observed in the biceps femoris muscle, iliac muscle, gluteus minimus, gluteus medius and the gluteus maximus. Conclusion: The results obtained in the research-related tests confirmed that the pelvic inclination affects loads present in the musculoskeletal system. The above-named results will be used to develop therapeutic exercises aimed to reduce loads present in the musculoskeletal system. The aforesaid exercises will be used to teach participants how to properly position their pelvis and how to activate individual groups of muscles. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The hip and lumbosacral joint centre (HJC and LSJC) predictions are required to analyse the lumbo-pelvic-hip dynamics during various human motions. Some HJC and LSJC regression equations based on pelvic dimension have been developed; however, the pre-existing methods need to be re-evaluated, and methodological reconsideration may improve the regression methods. Here we show that pre-existing methods produce biased predictions of the LSJC and HJC in 23 male and 24 female Japanese adults, and that the biases in the LSJC differ between sexes, using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) around the pelvis. Compared with directly measured locations on MRI, the pre-existing regression equations predict LSJC to be more posterior in males and more inferior and posterior in females, and HJC to be more medial in both sexes. The better pre-existing regression equation for LSJC height differs between sexes, with pelvic-width-base better in males and pelvic-depth-base better in females, respectively. We suggest the unsuitability of pre-existing methods to our dataset consisting of Japanese adults and the importance of considering sex differences in regression methods. We propose regression equations to predict HJC and LSJC, considering soft-tissue thickness, sex differences, and a height-directional measure, using least absolute shrinkage and selection operator regression. We validate them using leave-one-out cross-validation (LOOCV). LOOCV shows that our model produces negligible biases and smaller absolute errors than the pre-existing regressions; in particular, the anteroposterior absolute error for LSJC is less than half that of the pre-existing regression. Dynamic activities such as running, cycling, and swimming have been shown to effectively reduce lactate in the postexercise period. It is unknown whether core stabilization exercises performed following an intense bout would exhibit a similar effect. Therefore, this study was designed to assess the extent of the lactate response with core stabilization exercises following high-intensity anaerobic exercise. Subjects (N = 12) reported twice for testing, and on both occasions baseline lactate was obtained after 5 minutes of seated rest. Subjects then performed a 30-second Win- gate anaerobic cycle test, immediately followed by a blood lactate sample. In the 5-minute postexercise period, subjects either rested quietly or performed core stabilization exercises. A final blood lactate sample was obtained following the 5-minute intervention period. Analysis revealed a significant interaction (p = 0.05). Lactate values were similar at rest (core = 1.4 ± 0.1, rest = 1.7 ± 0.2 mmol·L-1) and immediately after exercise (core = 4.9 ± 0.6, rest = 5.4 ± 0.4 mmol·L-1). However, core stabilization exercises performed during the 5-minute postexercise period reduced lactate values when compared to rest (5.9 ± 0.6 vs. 7.6 ± 0.8 mmol·L-1). The results of this study show that performing core stabilization exercises during a recovery period significantly reduces lactate values. The reduction in lactate may be due to removal via increased blood flow or enhanced uptake into the core musculature. Incorporation of core stability exercises into a cool-down period following muscular work may result in benefits to both lactate clearance as well as enhanced postural control. Confusion exists regarding what the core musculature is, how it is evaluated, how it is trained, and how it is applied to functional performance. Objective: The aim: A comparative analysis of the efficiency of the lumbo-pelvic-hip complex for bodybuilders and football referees. Defining factors that are related and those that are not related to their professions that can affect their efficiency of the lumbo-pelvic-hip complex., Patients and Methods: Materials and methods: 35 bodybuilders and 41 football referees were randomly selected in different assosiations in Lodz. The study was performed using a questionnaire and tests for the SFTR range of motion of hip joints and also a Shober test., Results: Results: It occurs that statistically the extension, flexion, abduction, external and internal rotation were significant with bodybuilders and the extension and internal rotation movement with the referees. The mean values for the Shober test when moving forward were worse for the test group than man for the control group were correct. Alongside bulking within the test group and control group the range of motion in the hip joint has decreased. The biggest statistical significance has been for the flexion and internal rotation., Conclusion: Conclusions: In the group of bodybuilders the restriction appears to be in 5 out of 6 type of movements in the hip joint area: extension, flexion, abduction, internal and external rotation. In the second group, football referees the range of motion forward and internal rotation is restricted. The mobility of the lumbar region in both groups is within the average, but for the bodybuilders at quite low. The efficiency of lumbo-pelvic-hip complex is determined by duration of training, body mass, type of training and also any pain ailments. Bodybuilders have less efficiency of lumbo-pelvic-hip complex.
