Abstract

The synthesis of a new bioinspired dinucleating ligand scaffold based on a bridging pyrazolate with appended bis[2-(1-methylimidazolyl)methyl]aminomethyl chelate arms is reported. The dinuclear complex present at basic pH is observed to feature an intramolecular MeO-H-OMe bridge with a very short hydrogen bond.

An extensive crystallographic and spectroscopic enquiry of a complete range of the uncommon tetranuclear nickel(II) complexes is presented. The magnetic constituents of these complexes and deductions of first magneto-structural relationship for the mu4-azido connection are also reported.

The reaction of 1,3,5,7-cyclooctatetraene with sodium-postassium alloy and dihalogeno(diisopropylamino)boranes in 1,2-dimethoxyethane gives the title compound, characterized by elemental analysis, MS (EI, FI), NMR (1H, 11B, 13C), and X-ray crystallography. peerReviewed
