Metacognition is defined as a higher-order thinking skill that enables individuals to monitor, control, and regulate their thinking and behavior. In education, this skill is important, as learners need to self-regulate their learning behaviors for successful lifelong learning. Thus, it is essential for educators and learners alike to know their metacognitive skills. Researchers can assist in this endeavor by developing sound and valid quantitative measures for psychological phenomena such as metacognition. No measure is more commonly used for this purpose than the Metacognitive Awareness Inventory (MAI). In the present study, the International Group on Metacognition validated the MAI employing a standard, international Spanish with a robust sample of 12 Spanish-speaking countries and 1,622 undergraduate university students. Results revealed a solid final baseline confirmatory factor analysis model for all 12 countries that supports the original two-factor structure reported in English-speaking samples from the United States. Additionally, multigroup measurement invariance analyses revealed that although five parameters varied slightly across some countries, chi-square difference tests indicated that the comparison model with these constraints freely estimated was not significantly better than the fully constrained null model, supporting measurement invariance across countries. Thus, our version of the MAI using standard, international Spanish is a valid and reliable tool for measuring metacognitive awareness in Spanish-speaking countries.

Background: Special attention is required when considering any educational intervention aimed at its promotion and development. Our objective is to conduct an umbrella review of systematic reviews that gather evidence from relationships and sex education programmes tailored for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Methods: The protocol was developed in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses Protocol. Systematic reviews were identified through a search in Web of Science, SCOPUS and PsychINFO, using the descriptors: 'intellectual disab*' AND 'sex*'AND 'systematic'. Findings: The results of the nine reviews included in the meta-review yield relevant outcomes related to 50 sex education interventions carried out with people with intellectual disabilities. This provided the opportunity to delve into the characteristics of these interventions to ascertain the accomplishments achieved to date. Conclusions: The findings serve as foundation to propose and promote new research on this important area of life, addressing the inequalities identified concerning the sexuality and affective-sexual education of people with intellectual disabilities. It offers valuable information for the educational, social and healthcare fields, facilitating the design of more effective and rights-respecting initiatives.

Abstract The study focused on the photodegradation of profoxydim, a low-toxicity cyclohexanedione herbicide commonly used in rice crops, under simulated sunlight conditions. Profoxydim’s behavior in paddy field conditions is not well understood, and this research aimed to fill that gap, particularly examining the effect of commonly utilized organic amendments such as biochar (BC) on its degradation. Results indicated that profoxydim degrades rapidly, with a half-life of 2.4 ± 0.3 h in paddy water and 1.03 ± 0.1 h in paddy soil. However, when BC was introduced, the degradation slowed significantly, extending the half-lives to 3.1 ± 0.2 h in water and 3.07 ± 0.5 h in soil. The study identified five degradation products (DPs) using TOF mass accuracy measurements and MS/MS spectra fragmentation. Two of these DPs were found to be more stable than profoxydim itself. Additionally, the research proposed a novel photodegradation pathway, highlighting processes such as homolytic C-N bond cleavage, photoisomerization, and photoinduced oxidation. The study’s findings contribute new insights into the environmental fate of profoxydim, offering a deeper understanding of its transformation in rice paddy fields and aiding in the assessment of potential risks associated with its residues in agricultural environments.

Abstract We report 14 cases of immune effector cell (IEC)-associated enterocolitis following chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) therapy in multiple myeloma, with a 1.2% incidence overall (0.2% for idecabtagene vicleucel and 2.2% for ciltacabtagene autoleucel). Patients developed acute-onset symptoms (typically non-bloody Grade 3+ diarrhea) with negative infectious workup beginning a median of 92.5 days (range: 22–210 days) after CAR-T therapy and a median of 85 days after cytokine release syndrome resolution. Gut biopsies uniformly demonstrated inflammation, including intra-epithelial lymphocytosis and villous blunting. In one case where CAR-specific immunofluorescence stains were available, CAR T-cell presence was confirmed within the lamina propria. Systemic corticosteroids were initiated in 10 patients (71%) a median of 25.5 days following symptom onset, with symptom improvement in 40%. Subsequent infliximab or vedolizumab led to improvement in 50% and 33% of corticosteroid-refractory patients, respectively. Five patients (36%) have died from bowel perforation or treatment-emergent sepsis. In conclusion, IEC-associated enterocolitis is a distinct but rare complication of CAR-T therapy typically beginning 1–3 months after infusion. Thorough diagnostic workup is essential, including evaluation for potential T-cell malignancies. The early use of infliximab or vedolizumab may potentially hasten symptom resolution and lower reliance on high-dose corticosteroids during the post-CAR-T period.

Abstract The sports industry contributes significantly to environmental degradation through its economic practices. As a result, there has been interest in reducing the impact through various initiatives in sectors such as sporting events, facility management, etc. However, these initiatives have not been studied in the sport sector, eluding the beneficial effects it could have on market positioning and user retention. Therefore, this study aims to assess the effect of green practices implemented by sports clubs on their users’ perceptions and loyalty. The GPSport and EPOD2 questionnaires were used on a total of 1732 users of 27 Spanish sports clubs, of whom 70% were men. In data processing, standard deviation, skewness, and kurtosis were used for psychometric properties; Cronbach’s alpha, AVE, and CR were used for correlations between factors, and CMIN, DF, and CFI were used to test the invariance of the factor structure across user groups. Perceptions of the service were predominantly positive. The construct with the highest value was satisfaction (4.36 ± 0.73), followed by loyalty (4.19 ± 0.79), with green practices scoring the lowest (3.01 ± 0.94). Perceived quality was a significant and direct antecedent of satisfaction, while satisfaction was a significant and direct antecedent of loyalty, with the former relationship being the strongest. Green practices were directly and significantly related to perceived quality, predominantly indirectly related to satisfaction, and mostly directly related to loyalty. For female users, the relevance of green practices as an antecedent of perceived quality and satisfaction was significantly higher. The results obtained suggest that green practices are an added value that improves users’ perceptions, especially among females, justifying the use of marketing strategies based on the adoption of green practices.

Resumen: Introducción: Los traumatismos periféricos son una causa muy frecuente de consulta en las urgencias pediátricas, pero apenas se han publicado estudios que describan las características de estos pacientes. Material y métodos: Se realiza un estudio descriptivo retrospectivo mediante revisión de formularios informatizados de urgencias pediátricas durante los meses de enero y febrero de 2020. Objetivo: Conocer las características de la patología traumática pediátrica de nuestra área y detectar posibles puntos de mejora. Resultados: Se atendieron 714 traumatismos periféricos, lo que supone 9,5% de las consultas totales. De los pacientes presentados, 52,7% fueron escolares (6 a 11 años). Las localizaciones más frecuentes fueron el tobillo (27,5%) y los dedos de la mano (17,2%). Se detectó fractura en 6,7% de los casos. En 78,6% de los pacientes se solicitó radiografía, siendo patológica 9,6% de las mismas. La mitad de las radiografías se solicitaron por traumatismo en el tobillo o dedos de la mano. Se realizó interconsulta a traumatología en 16,4% de los pacientes, sobre todo en traumatismos de codo y rodilla, y el tratamiento más empleado fueron las medidas generales (49%) y el vendaje (29,4%). Conclusiones: Los traumatismos periféricos son muy habituales y, en general, banales. Se solicita un gran número de radiografías con una rentabilidad muy baja, por lo que parece necesario establecer nuevos protocolos que permitan reducir el número de peticiones. Mejorar la formación respecto a los traumatismos de codo y rodilla podría mejorar la autonomía de los pediatras respecto a este tipo de lesiones, más complejas. Abstract: Introduction: Peripheral trauma is a very frequent cause of consultation in paediatric emergency departments but few studies have been published describing the characteristics of these patients. Material and methods: We performed a retrospective descriptive study by reviewing computerised emergency department forms during January and February 2020. Objective: To describe the characteristics of traumatic injuries in our area and to detect possible areas for improvement. Results: A total of 714 peripheral trauma cases were attended, which represents 9.5% of the total consultations. A total of 52.7% were schoolchildren (6–11 years). The most frequent locations were the ankle (27.5%) and fingers (17.2%). Fracture was detected in 6.7% of cases. Radiographs were requested in 78.6% of the patients, with pathological findings in 9.6% of them. Half of the X-rays were requested due to ankle or finger trauma. Referral to traumatology was made in 16.4% of patients, mainly for elbow and knee trauma, and the most commonly used treatment was general measures (49%) and bandaging (29.4%). Conclusions: Peripheral trauma is very common and, in general, banal. A large number of X-rays are requested with a very low yield, so it seems necessary to establish new protocols to reduce the number of requests. Improving training in elbow and knee trauma could improve paediatricians’ autonomy in dealing with these more complex injuries.

The current study sought to test hypotheses derived from the social cognitive model of career self-management (CSM; Lent & Brown, 2013) applied to the process of career exploration and decision-making. We examined how well personality traits, contextual factors, and social cognitive predictors, collectively, account for exploration behavior and career decision-making outcomes. Specifically, we determine the relationships between personality traits with career decision self-efficacy, career goals, and decisional criteria in a sample of 302 high school students. The participants completed domain-specific measures of four personality traits (conscientiousness, intellect/openness, extraversion, and neuroticism), social support, self-efficacy, outcome expectations, goals, level of career indecision, and decisional anxiety. The model fit the data well overall, though certain predictors were linked to the criterion variables only indirectly via mediated pathways. The structural equation model analysis suggested, consistent with previous studies, that the contribution of personality on career exploration and decision-making was mediated by sociocognitive mechanisms. Multiple group analysis suggests that neither sex nor the type of institution (state/private) that students attend determines the relationships among the variables of the proposed theoretical model. Limitations, further research, practical implications, and methodological implications for the CSM model are discussed.
