RESUMO O objetivo desse estudo foi verificar diferenças entre a frequência cardíaca máxima (FCM) obtida na natação em testes de 200 metros nas técnicas de nado crawl e peito e comparar a FCM dos testes com as obtidas através de 53 equações de predição. A amostra foi composta por dois grupos de nadadores, todos do sexo masculino, oito (22,87 ± 2,03 anos) fizeram o nado crawl e 14 (22±2,94 anos) o nado peito. Não houve diferenças significantes (p = 0,530) em relação às técnicas de nado. Comparando-se a FCM obtida e calculada, através do modelo de Bland Altman, foi observado que apenas para o nado crawl são indicadas equações de predição para a estimativa da FCM, na impossibilidade de feitura do teste máximo. Entre as equações, recomenda-se a FCM = 204-1,07 x idade.

Os objetivos deste estudo foram: i) caracterizar o nado submáximo e máximo do ponto de vista cinemático; ii) verificar a influência das variáveis cinemáticas na prova máxima de 200 metros crawl. Nove nadadores de elite nacionais realizaram dois testes: um submáximo, descontínuo de intensidade progressiva; outro máximo, que consistiu em uma simulação de uma prova de 200 m crawl. Foram estudados os parâmetros cinemáticos gerais da mecânica da braçada, a duração de cada fase do ciclo gestual, a velocidade do centro de massa e a variação intracíclica da velocidade horizontal. Verificaram-se diferenças cinemáticas significativas da frequência gestual, velocidade de deslocamento do centro de massa, duração total do ciclo gestual, duração da ação subaquática propulsora e da velocidade do centro de massa na fase de recuperação entre os testes. Identificou-se associações significativas entre o teste máximo e algumas variáveis cinemáticas como a velocidade do centro de massa e índice de nado.The main aims of this study were i) to perform a kinematic characterization of sub and maximal swimming speed; ii) to investigate the associations between the kinematic profiles and the 200 m front crawl style. Nine national level male swimmers performed two speed tests: a submaximal discontinuous speed trial of progressive speed intensity, and a maximal one, simulating a 200 m front crawl style. The stroke general kinematic parameters, the phases duration of the stroke cycle, the velocity of the centre of mass and the intra cyclic variation of the horizontal velocity were herein studied. Significant kinematic differences in relation to stroke rate, horizontal velocity of the centre of mass, total cycle duration, absolute and relative duration of the propulsive sub aquatic action and the velocity of the centre of mass during the arms recovery were compared between the speed tests. Significant correlations between the performance in the maximal speed and some kinematic variables were observed.

O objetivo do presente estudo foi verificar os efeitos de diferentes percentuais da velocidade crítica (VC) na frequência cardíaca (FC), na frequência média de ciclos de braçadas (FB), na distância média que o corpo desloca a cada ciclo de braçada (DC) e no esforço percebido (EP) no nado crawl. Quinze nadadores, de ambos os sexos, realizaram cinco repetições de 200 m em diferentes percentuais da VC (90, 95, 100, 103 e 105%), em ordem aleatória. A FC, o EP e a FB apresentaram correlação significante positiva com os percentuais da VC (rho = 0,585, p0,05). Fifteen swimmers of both genders performed five repetitions of 200 m at different percentages of CS (90, 95, 100, 103, and 105%), in random order. HR, PE and SR showed a significant positive correlation with the percentage of CS (rho = 0.585, p 0.05). The results from percentages of CS may help coaches to understand the impact of responses related to the internal load during training program.

The ongoing research on freestyle flip turns requires the standardization of assessment methods and protocols. The objective of this study was to propose a standardization of the distance used for the analysis of flip-turn performance. Eleven swimmers of both genders (16±3 years) participated in the study. Peak force (PF) and contact time (CT) were measured using a force platform. Five camcorders were installed to determine the flip-turn time at a distance of 15 (TT15) and 10 m (TT10), distance before the turn, distance to regain stroke, and time without stroke. O objetivo deste estudo foi ajustar o modelo P-tLim à natação com o recurso do nado atado. Seu significado fisiológico para a descrição dos domínios pesado/severo foi obtido pelas relações com a velocidade crítica (VC), potência crítica (PC) e com máxima fase estável do lactato (MFEL). A velocidade correspondente a MFEL (vMFEL =1,17 ± 0,11 m/s) e a VC (1,19 ± 0,12 m/s) obtidas durante o nado desimpedido foram significantemente diferentes. Similarmente, a potência correspondente a MFEL (pMFEL = 89,2 ± 15,1 W) e a PC (99,4 ± 22,9 W) foram diferentes durante o nado atado. Não houve diferença da concentração de lactato na vMFEL (3,54 ± 0,9 mM) e pMFEL (3,76 ± 0,6 mM). Coeficientes de Pearson significativos (r > 0,70) foram observados entre os parâmetros vMFEL e pMFEL com seus respectivos pares do modelo tempo-limite. Assim, o nado atado parece ser válido para determinar os limites do domínio pesado/severo, podendo também ser utilizado para avaliar a capacidade aeróbia de nadadores.The aim of this study was to access the P-tLim model in swimming, applying the load control available in full tethered swim condition. Its physiological meaning for the determination of boundary of heavy/severe domains was assessed from the relationships with critical velocity (CV), critical power (CP) and maximal lactate steady state (MLSS). The velocity at MLSS (vMLSS = 1.17 ± 0.11 m/s) and CV (1.19 ± 0.12 m/s) were significantly different. Similarly, the power at MLSS (pMFEL = 89.2 ± 15.1 W) and CP (99.4 ± 22.9 W) were significantly different. There was no difference between lactate concentration at vMLSS (3.54 ± 0.9 mM) and pMLSS (3.76 ± 0.6 mM). Significant Pearson's coefficients (r > 0.70) were observed among vMLSS and P MLSS with their respective values on time-limited model. Thus, the tethered-crawl condition seems to be valid to determine the boundary of heavy/severe domains, and to access the aerobic capacity of swimmers.
