This paper deals with the accuracy evaluation of a method for gathering synchronized phasor measurements of electrical quantities in nodes of power networks. Usually, this task is performed using commercially available instrumentation, for instance, the phasor measurement unit. They rely on a common time reference signal provided usually by the GPS system. After a brief recall of two methods already presented by authors in previous papers, which do not require a common time reference for providing synchronized phasors of voltages at the network nodes, the major sources of uncertainty in the measurement chain (lengths of the branches of the network; per-unit length reactance of the cables; and effect of the instrument transformers) are considered and investigation on their contribution, in one of the two methods, to the overall uncertainty performed. This paper deals with the evaluation of the accuracy performance of an approach for assessing the phase displacement between voltages at power network nodes. This task is accomplished by processing asynchronous measurements taken at each node. This turns into an equivalent synchronization, which is, therefore, obtained without exploiting any synchronization signals, such as the ones provided by means of wireless (i.e., global positioning system) or wired technologies. As a matter of fact, distribution system operators will gain the possibility of deploying, at more affordable costs, wide area measurement system (WAMS) over their power networks for enhancing their stability and reliability. Phasor measurement units (PMUs) are the most common examples of such WAMS, but, besides their high cost, there are circumstances where providing a time reference signal to remote PMUs often becomes a difficult task. Stator current of induction motor is analysed at single phasing by measuring phase angle, symmetrical components, Skewness, Kurtosis and harmonic distortion in Park plane. Diagnosis of single phasing of induction motor has been achieved by sequence components and stator current based pattern assessment. Distinct phase shift from 120° to 180° is observed between healthy phases. Patterns are formed using line currents and single phasing is assessed by using rule sets developed from features extracted from those patterns. Experimental result agrees with rule set and result obtained by assessment using sequence components. Then assessment is done by analysing wavelet decomposition based Skewness and Kurtosis of stator current in Park plane. At last, area based approach is used for assessment of single phasing and different distortion factors because of harmonics in Park plane are assessed. Accuracy increases with the increase of sampling rate of data acquisition system and use of Park plane has reduced computation effort by two‐thirds. Thus single phasing is detected by sequence components supported by pattern formation and feature extraction and then harmonics during single phasing are assessed by wavelet decomposition and area‐based approach in Park plane. In order for the conductance catheter system to accurately measure instantaneous cardiac blood volume, it is necessary to determine and remove the contribution from parallel myocardial tissue. In previous studies, the myocardium has been treated as either purely resistive or purely capacitive when developing methods to estimate the myocardial contribution. We propose that both the capacitive and the resistive properties of the myocardium are substantial, and neither should be ignored. Hence, the measured result should be labeled admittance rather than conductance. We have measured the admittance (magnitude and phase angle) of the left ventricle in the mouse, and have shown that it is measurable and increases with frequency. Further, this more accurate technique suggests that the myocardial contribution to measured admittance varies between end-systole and end-diastole, contrary to previous literature. We have tested these hypotheses both with numerical finite-element models for a mouse left ventricle constructed from magnetic resonance imaging images, and with in vivo admittance measurements in the murine left ventricle. Finally, we propose a new method to determine the instantaneous myocardial contribution to the measured left ventricular admittance that does not require saline injection or other intervention to calibrate.
