This paper presents a detailed investigation of both normal and intruder states in 98Mo nucleus in the E ≥ 3 MeV. We considered all reported intruder energy levels for this nucleus, 0+2, 2+1, 4+1, 4+2, 2+2, and also the quadrupole transitions which originated from these levels. A mixing formalism based on the combination of U(5) and O(6) dynamical symmetries of the interacting boson model is used in the Hamiltonian and wavefunctions for, respectively, N- and (N + 2)-boson spaces. The weight of each space is determined by the calculation of theoretical quadrupole transition rates and compared with their experimental counterparts. By using these weights, the expectation values of the pure U(5) and O(6) Hamiltonians and also the total Hamiltonian that contains these limits and mixing terms are calculated for different levels, too. The results show that normal energy levels and quadrupole transition between them can be described satisfactory in comparison with experimental counterparts by using the pure U(5) Hamiltonian in the only N-boson space. For intruder levels and quadrupole transition originating from them or holding between normal and intruder states, the mixed formalism of Hamiltonian and wavefunctions increases the efficiency of theoretical formalisms and suggests exact results. In this paper, we have applied a simple interacting boson model (IBM) to Cadmium (Cd) isotopic chain to obtain the quadrupole transition rates and effective deformation. To this aim, we use the U(5) and O(6) dynamical symmetry limits of this model to classify the considered states. Also, the energy spectra of some levels are determined which their experimental counterparts are available. The results describe the regular states with high accuracy but suggest notable deviation in the prediction of intruder energy levels. Also, our results show the advantages of this formalism in the description of quadrupole transition rates and indicate a significant relationship between the values of effective quadrupole deformations and effective boson charge. Also, for the 1 1 4 Cd, 1 1 2 Cd and 1 1 0 Cd isotopes, we have the largest variation of the quadrupole shape constants which are located in the region of shape coexistence. The study of the ratios of different energy levels indicates that there is a close relationship between ground and excited-state quantum phase transitions (ESQPTs). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

We considered the characteristic features of SU(3) partial dynamical symmetry in the interacting boson model framework to show the relevance of such intermediate symmetry structure in the nuclear spectroscopy of the Dy nucleus. The predictions of SU(3)-PDS for the energy spectrum and the transition probabilities were compared with the most recent experimental data and an acceptable degree of agreement was achieved.
