The ESA to support this study through its ESA-EXPRO+ measure., Through its Open Space Innovation Platform, in August 2019 ESA opened a campaign for novel ideas to address detecting, mapping and exploring lunar caves and lava tubes. Amongst these ideas, ESA selected the project “Daedalus” to participate in its Concurrent Design Facility (CDF) to study the feasibility and planning the mission. The Mission is planned to last one full lunar day (12+2 contingency), with the possibility to extend the mission time within the cave and to rely on communication with Earth in the following lunar day. The CDF Internal Final Report on Daedalus is now available on request. The Daedalus robot hosts two payloads, one lidar (responsibility University of Würzburg) and one stereoscopic panoramic camera (Daedalus-CAM, responsibility INAF). The present document has been issued to describe the Project Plan of the Daedalus–CAM imaging payload.

The STACK is provided by the Mission Operation Center (MOC) at ESA-ESOC in XLSX format before each in-flight instrument test for final approval by the SIMBIO-SYS Team. This document reports the software features, functionalities, and syntax. The software is a MATLAB script. It could be used as a standalone or integrated into a pipeline.

Thanks to ASI for the resources which made possible the development of this software., This document will describe the Simulator for Operation of Imaging Missions (SOIM) software used to simulate any Imaging System on board of Missions which take advantage of the Spice Kernels (technology). The document will provide documentation and a description of the input and output files. The experience accumulated by INAF in International Space Missions has demonstrated the impact and the scientific return of Imaging tools. In all mission phases, these instruments have required the development of tools to simulate acquisitions, to verify and optimize the observation strategy, and to define the essential parameters for Operations. The Simulator for Operation of Imaging Missions (SOIM) will be a generic software tool for simulating such payloads. It was developed thanks to the contribution of INAF-OAPD; INAF-IAPS; CNR-IFN and will represent a transversal activity to different research lines favoring the optimization of performances and, with the collaboration of the scientific group, the validation of scientific requirements. At the current date the simulator was applied to 5 instruments: -the three Monitor Cameras (MCAM) on board of BepiColombo Mission -the CaSSIS camera onboard of ExoMars 2016 -the instrument Spectrometers and Imagers for MPO BepiColombo Integrated Observatory SYStem (SIMBIO-SYS) onboard of BepiColombo mission.

In this report we will show the calibration procedure and the obtained results for the definition of the intrinsic parameters of a wide-angle lens through the use of a set of acquisitions of a well-known calibration target. In this case the method is applied to INAF payload panoramic hereafter called BPL (Bifocal Panoramic Lens)

Un ringraziamento va ad ASI per il supporto per il progetto., In this document, we reported the history of the tests performed on the STC detector in the first two years of the BepiColombo’s cruise phase. The scope of these tests was to monitor the dark current behavior of the STC channel’s detector. A detailed description is provided for each test phase: data acquired, the deducted results and conclusions. The STC Channel is part of SIMBIO-SYS, a scientific payload of the BepiColombo ESA-JAXA mission to Mercury. During the NECP (Near-Earth Commissioning Phase ), all the initial commissioning activities were completed and the three channels of SIMBIO-SYS have operated properly demonstrating that all the channels and subsystems worked nominally. Since then, every six months different instrument checkouts have been carried-out to check the performance of the three SIMBIO-SYS channels and improve their calibration. This document reports the conclusion on the Dark calibration of STC Channel due to the analysis of the ICOs tests.

These rules are fundamental in building correct Flight Operation procedures (FOPs) and all other higher-level commanding sequences as Payload Direct Operation Request (PDOR), Payload Operation Request (POR), Memory Operation Request (MOR) and Instrument TimeLine (ITL) that use FOPs with open (i.e., formal) parameters. This is a sort of “living document” since present version describes two rules which are considered, for the time being, the most important ones: 1. Compatibility between commanded windows size and Compression settings of the Compression Unit (CU) in the ME 2. Definition of the lower limit of the Repetition Time (RT) 3. On-board processing for data refinement

This document describes the issues encountered with the EDDS system when retrieving the SIMBIO-SYS raw data used as input for the data reduction pipeline.

This document describes the use of the software developed to solve the issues founded on the EDDS system to retrieve the SIMBIO-SYS raw data used as input for the data reduction pipeline [RD2]. In the cited TC was discussed that a packet could be received by two, or more, different ground stations. At ESOC levels the packets result differently. They have different SCOS headers but the same data. Those packets introduce a duplication of one or more subframes compromising the scientific data.

"LICIACube - the Light Italian Cubesat for Imaging of Asteroids" [1] is managed by the Italian Space Agency (ASI) and will be part of the NASA mission DART [2]. LICIACube will be launched with DART at the end of 2021, hosted as piggyback during the interplanetary cruise, and released 10 days before the DART impact on Dimorphos, the secondary member of the binary asteroid (65803) Didymos. LICIACube will be equipped with two optical cameras: LEIA (Liciacube Explorer Imaging for Asteroid), a narrow FoV camera that will be used for autonomous navigation and science, and LUKE (Liciacube Unit Key Explorer), a wide FoV imager with a RGB Bayer pattern filter. After the release from the DART spacecraft, LICIACube will be autonomously guided to a fast fly-by with the target, reaching a minimum distance of about 55 km. Several images will be collected and transmitted to Earth with the aim to document the DART impact's effects on Dimorphos and to perform dedicated scientific investigation of the target.

This document contains all the information and concepts necessary to define an observation strategy for STC, the stereocamera channel of SIMBIOSYS, and plan its observations. It first describes the constraints derived from the orbit of Mercury, the planning of BepiColombo mission, and the design of STC detector; then the possibilities offered by the software commanding the instrument are presented. Building on these constraints and possibilities, an observation strategy based on a “segmented orbit” concept is presented and illustrated with some practical examples.
