The novel and exciting class of porphyrin‐based compounds are the main group coordination‐driven porphyrins (MGCPs) with a central main group element into the porphyrin macrocycle. MGCPs have unique properties, reactivity, and potential applications in catalysis, sensing, biomedicine etc. This comprehensive review article discusses recent advances in the field of main group coordination driven porphyrins and explores some of its potential uses in solar cells, catalysis, antimicrobial, optoelectronic devices, sensing, and catalysis. The addition of main group elements to porphyrin systems has resulted in the production of entirely novel compounds that have intriguing qualities including increased stability and catalytic activity. Significant modifications in these unique compounds features are apparent through the analysis of their structural properties. It encompasses FTIR, proton NMR, electrical and optical characterisation in addition to an electrochemical analysis of those parameters. They serve as significant building blocks for the creation of cutting‐edge materials and technologies in a variety of scientific and technical disciplines because to their special qualities and adaptability. Researchers working in the domains of coordination chemistry, catalysis, and materials science will find this study to be of interest since it offers a thorough examination of current developments in main group coordination driven porphyrins and their prospective applications. Extensive and unregulated use of antibiotics favours the acquisition of resistance to antimicrobial agents. Hospitalized patients are at usually high risk of infections, and therefore the hospital surroundings favours the acquisition of resistance to antimicrobial agents, complicating the treatment of health facility infections as a result of drug resistant pathogens. The pattern of hospital infection has modified over the years, reflective advances in drugs and development of antimicrobial agents. Hospital effluent could contain multi drug resistant (MDR) coliforms and enteric pathogens which could pose a great problem for communities. There also exists a relationship between the metal tolerance and the anti-microbial resistance in microorganisms. Bacteria have continued to adapt to ecology of humans and their antimicrobial agents by diversifying the systems that they have evolved to counter those agents. As a result, unexpected and new problem of resistance have appeared and some resistance has become widely spread. So our aim is to determine the prevalence of antibiotic and heavy metals resistance in coliforms isolated from hospital wastewater. The present study was conducted at Department of (Ag.) Background: Microbial secondary metabolites have shown promise as a source of novel antimicrobial agents. In this study, we aimed to isolate, characterize, and evaluate the antimicrobial activity of compound from a novel Streptomyces albofaciens strain MS38. The objective was to identify a potential bioactive compound with broad-spectrum antimicrobial properties. Methods: The isolated strain MS38 on starch casein agar was characterized using morphological, physiological, and molecular identification techniques. The compound was obtained from the fermented broth through extraction with n-butanol and further purification using silica gel column chromatography and high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). Structural elucidation was conducted using Ultraviolet (UV), Infrared (IR), nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), and mass spectrometry (MS) techniques. The antimicrobial activity was evaluated using the agar well diffusion method and the microplate Alamar blue assay (MABA). Results: The isolated strain MS38 was identified as novel S. albofaciens based on morphological characteristics and confirmed by 16S sequences analysis and MALDI-TOF MS. The compound obtained from the fermented broth exhibited substantial antimicrobial activity against a variety of pathogenic bacteria and fungi. Structural analysis revealed a complex chemical structure with characteristic functional groups indicative of potential antimicrobial properties. The compound demonstrated strong activity against both Gram-positive (Staphylococcus Spp.) and Gram-negative (Klebsiella pneumoniae and Escherichia coli) bacteria, as well as fungi, including Candida albicans and Trichophyton rubrum. Conclusion: This study successfully isolated and characterized a bioactive compound from a novel S. albofaciens MS38. The compound exhibited significant antimicrobial activity against a range of pathogenic microorganisms. These findings underscore the importance of exploring microbial· biodiversity for the discovery of novel antimicrobial agents. Due to high durability, cheap cost, and ease of manufacture, 311 million tons of plastic-based products are manufactured around the globe per annum. The slow/least rate of plastic degradation leads to generation of million tons of plastic waste per annum, which is of great environmental concern. Of the total plastic waste generated, polythene shared about 64 %. Various methods are available in the literature to tackle with the plastic waste, and biodegradation is considered as the most accepted, eco-friendly, and cost-effective method of polythene waste disposal. In the present study, an attempt has been made to isolate, screen, and characterize the most efficient polythene degrading bacteria by using rhizosphere soil of Avicennia marina as a landmark. From 12 localities along the west coast of India, a total of 123 bacterial isolates were recorded. Maximum percent weight loss (% WL; 21.87 ± 6.37 %) was recorded with VASB14 at pH 3.5 after 2 months of shaking at room temperature. Maximum percent weight gain (13.87 ± 3.6 %) was reported with MANGB5 at pH 7. Maximum percent loss in tensile strength (% loss in TS; 87.50 ± 4.8 %) was documented with VASB1 at pH 9.5. The results based on the % loss in TS were only reproducible. Further, the level of degradation was confirmed by scanning electron microscopic (SEM) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) analysis. In SEM analysis, scions/crakes were found on the surface of the degraded polythene, and mass of bacterial cell was also recorded on the weight-gained polythene strips. Maximum reduction in carbonyl index (4.14 %) was recorded in untreated polythene strip with Lysinibacillus fusiformis strain VASB14/WL. Based on 16S ribosomal RNA (rRNA) gene sequence homology, the most efficient polythene degrading bacteria were identified as L. fusiformis strainVASB14/WL and Bacillus cereus strain VASB1/TS. Polythene degradation leads to the production of various by-products depending upon the type of degradation process. The polythene degradation products (PEDP) in the culture supernatant of the two bacteria ( Lysinibacillus fusiformis strain VASB14/WL and Bacillus cereus strain VASB1/TS) were analyzed with GC-MS technique. The major by-products in the PEDP in the culture supernatant of L. fusiformis strain VASB14/WL (1,2,3,4 tetra methyl benzene) and B. cereus strain VASB1/TS (1,2,3 trimethyl benzene, 1 ethyl 3,5-dimethyl benzene, 1,4 di methyl 2 ethyl benzene, and dibutyl phthalate) dissolved in diethyl ether were recorded. To assess the environmental applicability of polythene degradation using L. fusiformis strain VASB14/WL and B. cereus strain VASB1/TS at in vitro level. The effect of PEDP produced after 2 months of regular shaking at room temperature on both plants and animal system was studied. No significant decrease in the percent seed germination was recorded with the PEDP of both the bacteria. PEDP produced by L. fusiformis strain VASB14/WL did not report any significant change in germination index (GI) at 10 and 25 %, but least GI (39.66 ± 13.94) was documented at 50 % concentration of PEDP. Highest elongation inhibition rate (53.83 ± 15.71) of Sorghum was also recorded with L. fusiformis and at the same concentration. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Al is the crucial growth limiting factor for crop production in acidic soil all over the world. This experiment was targeted to screening of 12 barley varieties in presence of Al toxicity and the selection was of most tolerant and susceptible variety. The all 12 barley seeds were grown under in-vitro conditions with different concentrations of AlCl3 (0, 2, 4, 6 and 8 mM) at acidic pH followed by root growth method analysis. The screening was performed using statistical tool one way analysis of variance (ANOVA). The experimental design was completely randomized design (CDR). Data analysis was carried out using SPSS software. Granting to statistical results RD2552 performed as most tolerant and RD2052 performed as susceptible against AlCl3 among all barley varieties.
