A new plastic processing method for laser bending of TC4 titanium alloy heavy plates was developed in this work. Different from previous studies, the thickness of the plates in this work reached 6 and 12 mm. High-energy laser beam was applied on the surface of the TC4 titanium alloy heavy plate, resulting in thermal stress on the surface of the plate and causing bending deformation. The microstructure and mechanical properties of the bended plates were investigated. A finite element model was also developed to simulate the laser-assisted bending process of the TC4 titanium alloy heavy plate. The microstructure observation indicates that the original α + β worm-like microstructure changed to basket-weave microstructure composed of α′ phase of acicular martensite after laser bending. This microstructure with high densities of dislocation and twinning played an important role in grain boundary strengthening. Therefore, the hardness of the center of the heat-affected zone > the hardness of the base metal > the hardness of the edge of the heat-affected zone after bending. The tensile strength of the heat-affected zone is not significantly different from that of the base metal, but the tensile elongation is slightly lower than that of the base metal and its plasticity is lower. The simulation implies that temperature gradients in the normal direction caused by laser scanning can stimulate a horizontal partial stress σ x. Video Object Segmentation (VOS) methods have made many breakthroughs with the help of the continuous development and advancement of deep learning. However, the deep learning model is vulnerable to malicious adversarial attacks, which mislead the model to make wrong decisions by adding adversarial perturbation that humans cannot perceive to the input image. Threats to deep learning models remind us that video object segmentation methods are also vulnerable to attacks, thereby threatening their security. Therefore, we study adversarial attacks on the VOS task to better identify the vulnerabilities of the VOS method, which in turn provides an opportunity to improve its robustness. In this paper, we propose an attention-guided adversarial attack method, which uses spatial attention blocks to capture features with global dependencies to construct correlations between consecutive video frames, and performs multipath aggregation to effectively integrate spatial-temporal perturbation, thereby guiding the deconvolution network to generate adversarial examples with strong attack capability. Specifically, the class loss function is designed to enable the deconvolution network to better activate noise in other regions and suppress the activation related to the object class based on the enhanced feature map of the object class. At the same time, attentional feature loss is designed to enhance the transferability against attack. The experimental results on the DAVIS dataset show that the proposed attention-guided adversarial attack method can significantly reduce the segmentation accuracy of OSVOS, and the J&F mean on DAVIS 2016 can reach 73.6% drop rate. Due to the subjective nature of people's aesthetic experiences with respect to images, personalized image aesthetics assessment (PIAA), which can simulate the aesthetic experiences of individual users to estimate images, has received extensive attention from researchers in the computational intelligence and computer vision communities. Existing PIAA models are usually built on prior knowledge that directly learns the generic aesthetic results of images from most people or the personalized aesthetic results of images from a large number of individuals. However, the learned prior knowledge ignores the mutual influence of the multiple attributes of images and users in their personalized aesthetic experiences. To this end, this paper proposes a personalized image aesthetics assessment method via multi-attribute interactive reasoning. Different from existing PIAA models, the multi-attribute interaction constructed from both images and users is used as more effective prior knowledge. First, we designed a generic aesthetics extraction module from the perspective of images to obtain the aesthetic score distribution and multiple objective attributes of images rated by most users. Then, we propose a multi-attribute interactive reasoning network from the perspective of users. By interacting multiple subjective attributes of users with multiple objective attributes of images, we fused the obtained multi-attribute interactive features and aesthetic score distribution to predict personalized aesthetic scores. Facial action unit (AU) recognition remains a challenging task, due to the subtlety and non-rigidity of AUs. A typical solution is to localize the correlated regions of each AU. Current works often predefine the region of interest (ROI) of each AU via prior knowledge, or try to capture the ROI only by the supervision of AU recognition during training. However, the predefinition often neglects important regions, while the supervision is insufficient to precisely localize ROIs. In this paper, we propose a novel AU recognition method by prior and adaptive attention. Specifically, we predefine a mask for each AU, in which the locations farther away from the AU centers specified by prior knowledge have lower weights. A learnable parameter is adopted to control the importance of different locations. Then, we element-wise multiply the mask by a learnable attention map, and use the new attention map to extract the AU-related feature, in which AU recognition can supervise the adaptive learning of a new attention map. Experimental results show that our method (i) outperforms the state-of-the-art AU recognition approaches on challenging benchmark datasets, and (ii) can accurately reason the regional attention distribution of each AU by combining the advantages of both the predefinition and the supervision. The main objective of this study is to present a methodology to model the microstructure and mechanical properties of ZE41-xCa-ySr alloys for integrated optimization calculation of the heat treatment process of gearbox casting. Firstly, the models of microstructure and mechanical properties of ZE41-xCa-ySr alloys (0 ≤ x ≤ 2, 0 ≤ y ≤ 0.2) are developed using an artificial neural network (ANN) and multivariate regression. The dataset for ANN and regression models is generated by investigating the microstructures and mechanical properties of the ZE41-xCa-ySr alloys. The inputs for ANN and regression models are Ca and Sr contents, aging temperature and aging time. The outputs are grain size, ultimate tensile strength, elongation and microhardness. The optimal ANN model is obtained by testing the performance of different network architectures. In addition, multivariate regression models have been built based on the Least Squares method. Secondly, based on SiPESC software, an Integrated Computing Platform is constructed by combining the scripting language with the command line operation of simulation software, realizing the "process—microstructure—property" optimization calculation. Finally, based on the developed regression model, an Integrated Computing Platform batch called MATLAB achieves the heat treatment process optimization based on mechanical property prediction. The optimum aging temperature of the ZE41-0.17Ca-0.2Sr alloy is 322 °C, and the corresponding aging time is 11 h. Furthermore, the optimized results are validated by the ANN model, suggesting that ANN predicted results are in good agreement with optimized results. Image quality assessment (IQA) aims to automatically evaluate image perceptual quality by simulating the human visual system, which is an important research topic in the field of image processing and computer vision. Although existing deep-learning-based IQA models have achieved significant success, these IQA models usually require input images with a fixed size, which varies the perceptual quality of images. To this end, this paper proposes an aspect-ratio-embedded Transformer-based image quality assessment method, which can implant the adaptive aspect ratios of input images into the multihead self-attention module of the Swin Transformer. In this way, the proposed IQA model can not only relieve the variety of perceptual quality caused by size changes in input images but also leverage more global content correlations to infer image perceptual quality. Furthermore, to comprehensively capture the impact of low-level and high-level features on image quality, the proposed IQA model combines the output features of multistage Transformer blocks for jointly inferring image quality. Attention mechanism has recently attracted increasing attentions in the field of facial action unit (AU) detection. By finding the region of interest of each AU with the attention mechanism, AU-related local features can be captured. Most of the existing attention based AU detection works use prior knowledge to predefine fixed attentions or refine the predefined attentions within a small range, which limits their capacity to model various AUs. In this paper, we propose an end-to-end deep learning based attention and relation learning framework for AU detection with only AU labels, which has not been explored before. In particular, multi-scale features shared by each AU are learned first, and then both channel-wise and spatial attentions are adaptively learned to select and extract AU-related local features. Moreover, pixel-level relations for AUs are further captured to refine spatial attentions so as to extract more relevant local features. Without changing the network architecture, our framework can be easily extended for AU intensity estimation. Extensive experiments show that our framework (i) soundly outperforms the state-of-the-art methods for both AU detection and AU intensity estimation on the challenging BP4D, DISFA, FERA 2015, and BP4D+ benchmarks, (ii) can adaptively capture the correlated regions of each AU, and (iii) also works well under severe occlusions and large poses. In this work, Mg-3Y sheet was prepared by high temperature cross-rolling and subsequent short-term annealing. The effect of annealing on microstructure, texture, mechanical properties, and stretch formability of Mg-3Y sheet was primarily investigated. Micro-nano size coexistence of β-Mg24Y5 phases can be well deformed with matrix. The as-rolled Mg-3Y sheet exhibited a homogeneous deformation microstructure consisting of deformed grains with extensive kink bands and dispersed β-Mg24Y5 phases. A double peak texture character appeared in as-rolled Mg-3Y sheet with a split of the texture peaks of about ±20° tilted to rolling direction. After annealing, the as-annealed Mg-3Y sheet presented complete static recrystallized (SRXed) microstructure consisting of uniform equiaxed grains. The texture orientation distribution was more dispersed and a weakened multiple-peak texture orientation distribution appeared. In addition, the maximum intensity of basal plane decreased from 5.2 to 3.1. The change of texture character was attributed to static recrystallization (SRX) induced by kink bands and grain boundaries. The as-annealed Mg-3Y sheet with high Schmid factor (SF) for basal slip, prismatic slip, pyramidal slip, and pyramidal slip exhibited high ductility (~25.6%). Simultaneously, enhanced activity of basal slip and randomized grain orientation played a significant role in decreasing anisotropy for the as-annealed Mg-3Y sheet, which contributed to the formation of high stretch formability (~6.2 mm) at room temperature. In this study, an artificial neural network approach and a regression model are adopted to predict the mechanical properties of heat-treated Mg-Zn-RE-Zr-Ca-Sr magnesium alloys. The dataset for artificial neural network (ANN) modeling is generated by investigating the microhardness of heat-treated Mg-Zn-RE-Zr-Ca-Sr alloys using Vickers hardness tests. A back-propagation (BP) neural network is established using experimental data that enable the prediction of mechanical properties as a function of the composition and heat treatment process. The input variables for the BP network model are Ca and Sr contents, ageing temperature and ageing time. The output variable corresponds to the microhardness. The optimal BP network model is acquired by optimizing the number of the hidden layer nodes. The results indicate that a reliable correlation coefficient is above 0.95 for architecture (4-8-1), which has a high level of accuracy for prediction. In addition, a second-order polynomial regression model is developed based on the least squares method. The results of determination coefficients and Fisher's criterion indicate that the regression model is capable of modeling mechanical properties as a function of composition and the ageing process. Furthermore, supplemental experiments are conducted to check the accuracy of the BP model and the regression model, suggesting that the model predictions are well in accordance with experimental results. Facial action unit (AU) detection in the wild is a challenging problem, due to the unconstrained variability in facial appearances and the lack of accurate annotations. Most existing methods depend on either impractical labor-intensive labeling or inaccurate pseudo labels. In this paper, we propose an end-to-end unconstrained facial AU detection framework based on domain adaptation, which transfers accurate AU labels from a constrained source domain to an unconstrained target domain by exploiting labels of AU-related facial landmarks. Specifically, we map a source image with label and a target image without label into a latent feature domain by combining source landmark-related feature with target landmark-free feature. Due to the combination of source AU-related information and target AU-free information, the latent feature domain with transferred source label can be learned by maximizing the target-domain AU detection performance. Moreover, we introduce a novel landmark adversarial loss to disentangle the landmark-free feature from the landmark-related feature by treating the adversarial learning as a multi-player minimax game. Our framework can also be naturally extended for use with target-domain pseudo AU labels. Extensive experiments show that our method soundly outperforms lower-bounds and upper-bounds of the basic model, as well as state-of-the-art approaches on the challenging in-the-wild benchmarks. Facial expression transfer between two unpaired images is a challenging problem, as fine-grained expression is typically tangled with other facial attributes. Most existing methods treat expression transfer as an application of expression manipulation, and use predicted global expression, landmarks or action units (AUs) as a guidance. However, the prediction may be inaccurate, which limits the performance of transferring fine-grained expression. Instead of using an intermediate estimated guidance, we propose to explicitly transfer facial expression by directly mapping two unpaired input images to two synthesized images with swapped expressions. Specifically, considering AUs semantically describe fine-grained expression details, we propose a novel multi-class adversarial training method to disentangle input images into two types of fine-grained representations: AU-related feature and AU-free feature. Then, we can synthesize new images with preserved identities and swapped expressions by combining AU-free features with swapped AU-related features. Moreover, to obtain reliable expression transfer results of the unpaired input, we introduce a swap consistency loss to make the synthesized images and self-reconstructed images indistinguishable. Extensive experiments show that our approach outperforms the state-of-the-art expression manipulation methods for transferring fine-grained expressions while preserving other attributes including identity and pose. Fine-grained facial expression aims at changing the expression of an image without altering facial identity. Most current expression manipulation methods are based on a discrete expression label, which mainly manipulates holistic expression with details neglected. To handle the above mentioned problems, we propose an end-to-end expression-guided generative adversarial network (EGGAN), which synthesizes an image with expected expression given continuous expression label and structured latent code. In particular, an adversarial autoencoder is used to translate a source image into a structured latent space. The encoded latent code and the target expression label are input to a conditional GAN to synthesize an image with the target expression. Moreover, a perceptual loss and a multiscale structural similarity loss are introduced to preserve facial identity and global shape during expression manipulation. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our approach can edit fine-grained expressions, and synthesize continuous intermediate expressions between source and target expressions. The effect of low-frequency electromagnetic field (LFEF) on temperature pattern and microstructure on both symmetry planes was investigated during the semi-continuous direct chilling (DC) casting process of magnesium slab. The distribution characteristics of magnetic flux density (B) and time average electromagnetic volume force density (F) were calculated. The weak value ofFwas found near the slab corner, which was clearly distinguished from the distribution ofB. According to the temperature measurement results, LFEF made the mushy region much flatter than that of conventional DC casting and it was much more obvious in the thickness direction. Compared with conventional DC casting, the low-frequency electromagnetic casting (LFEC) process could decrease the average temperature gradient between the centre and border in the mushy zone. Ultrasound with different powers was applied to treat AZ80 alloy melt to attain grain refinement or purification processing of the alloy. The influence of ultrasonic powers from 0 W to 1400 W on microstructures of the AZ80 alloy with ultrasonic grain refinement treatment was investigated. The average grain size of the alloy could be decreased from 387 μm to 147 μm after the ultrasound with the optimal power 600 W was applied to treat the melt. The effect of ultrasonic powers from 0 W to 230 W on the inclusion distribution in the ingot that was treated by ultrasonic purification processing was also studied. The optimal ultrasonic power in the ultrasonic purification processing was 80 W. In order to gain insight into the mechanism by which ultrasonic power affected the microstructure of the alloy or inclusion distribution in the ingot, numerical simulations were carried out and the ultrasonic field propagation in the melt was characterized. Automatic facial action unit (AU) recognition has attracted great attention but still remains a challenging task, as subtle changes of local facial muscles are difficult to thoroughly capture. Most existing AU recognition approaches leverage geometry information in a straightforward 2D or 3D manner, which either ignore 3D manifold information or suffer from high computational costs. In this paper, we propose a novel geodesic guided convolution (GeoConv) for AU recognition by embedding 3D manifold information into 2D convolutions. Specifically, the kernel of GeoConv is weighted by our introduced geodesic weights, which are negatively correlated to geodesic distances on a coarsely reconstructed 3D morphable face model. Moreover, based on GeoConv, we further develop an end-to-end trainable framework named GeoCNN for AU recognition. Foveated rendering provides an idea for improving the image synthesis performance of neural radiance fields (NeRF) methods. In this paper, we propose a scene-aware foveated neural radiance fields method to synthesize high-quality foveated images in complex VR scenes at high frame rates. Firstly, we construct a multi-ellipsoidal neural representation to enhance the neural radiance field's representation capability in salient regions of complex VR scenes based on the scene content. Then, we introduce a uniform sampling based foveated neural radiance field framework to improve the foveated image synthesis performance with one-pass color inference, and improve the synthesis quality by leveraging the foveated scene-aware objective function. Our method synthesizes high-quality binocular foveated images at the average frame rate of 66 frames per second (FPS) in complex scenes with high occlusion, intricate textures, and sophisticated geometries. Compared with the state-of-the-art foveated NeRF method, our method achieves significantly higher synthesis quality in both the foveal and peripheral regions with 1.41-1.46× speedup. We also conduct a user study to prove that the perceived quality of our method has a high visual similarity with the ground truth.

Facial action unit (AU) detection is challenging due to the difficulty in capturing correlated information from subtle and dynamic AUs. Existing methods often resort to the localization of correlated regions of AUs, in which predefining local AU attentions by correlated facial landmarks often discards essential parts, or learning global attention maps often contains irrelevant areas. Furthermore, existing relational reasoning methods often employ common patterns for all AUs while ignoring the specific way of each AU. To tackle these limitations, we propose a novel adaptive attention and relation (AAR) framework for facial AU detection. Specifically, we propose an adaptive attention regression network to regress the global attention map of each AU under the constraint of attention predefinition and the guidance of AU detection, which is beneficial for capturing both specified dependencies by landmarks in strongly correlated regions and facial globally distributed dependencies in weakly correlated regions. Moreover, considering the diversity and dynamics of AUs, we propose an adaptive spatio-temporal graph convolutional network to simultaneously reason the independent pattern of each AU, the inter-dependencies among AUs, as well as the temporal dependencies. Extensive experiments show that our approach (i) achieves competitive performance on challenging benchmarks including BP4D, DISFA, and GFT in constrained scenarios and Aff-Wild2 in unconstrained scenarios, and (ii) can precisely learn the regional correlation distribution of each AU.
