Present field experiment was carried out to estimate yield losses in brinjal due to brinjal shoot and fruit borer, Leucinodes orbonalis Guenee. The results revealed that the mean fruit yield obtained from the plots treated with alternate sprays of acephate 75 SP (0.03%) and dimethoate 30 EC (0.03%) was 203.47 and 202.13 q ha-1, whereas it was only 105.65 and 107.40 q ha-1 in untreated plots during 2019 and 2020, respectively. The yield obtained from treated and untreated plots differed significantly from each other and the increased yield was 97.78 and 94.73 q ha-1 during 2019 and 2020, respectively. The increase in yield over untreated control was 92.59 and 88.21 per cent while, the avoidable loss was 48.08 46.87 per cent during 2019 and 2020, respectively. Investigations were carried out on the "Relative susceptibility of different lentil varieties against pulse beetle, Callosobruchus chinensis (Linn.)" during 2014-15 at S.K.N. College of Agriculture, Jobner. Out of 10 varieties screened on the basis of biological parameters and physico-chemical characters against this insect, Asha and PL-01 were less susceptible and Spana, IPL-81 and L-4076 were highly susceptible. However, PBW-343, L-147, RKL-60701, JL-3, RKL-607 and RKL6118 were moderately susceptible. It was evident from the correlation coefficient that the grain size had a significant and positive correlation with grain damage and weight loss. The grain hardness had a significantly negative correlation with damaged grains and grain weight loss. Thus, it is clear that the increase in grain hardness decreased the level of infestation and viceversa. The moisture contents of the grains were observed to be correlated significantly and positively with the infestation by C. chinensis. Thermally induced density wave instability (DWI) (Type-II) is an important phenomenon for two-phase flow industrial systems. Developing numerical tools and methods for the prediction of the DWI boundary is of importance in the design and safety of nuclear reactors. With the advent of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) in nuclear safety analysis, it is important to first verify the CFD results against existing theory and validate them with experimental data. In this work, a CFD two-fluid model (TFM) for DWI was implemented and verified against the theory of Ishii (1971). Closure relations were selected to approach the homogeneous equilibrium flow model. A steady-state verification of the model was carried out first. Then, dynamic verification was performed. Predictions of the stability boundary and the frequency of oscillations are in a good agreement with the theory. This study further verifies the dynamic capability of TFM CFD. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Taking a critical look at the existing conceptions of social development, the paper focuses on the sociological conceptualization and finds it inadequate on account of its partial premise and domineering Marxist bias. Alternatively, it advances a wider, deeper and liberal sociological formulation as enhancement of harmonious social bonds and liberal social values. The core proposition that it offers is: If economic development is about the expansion of economic capital, human development is about the enhancement of human capital, then social development is about the expansion of social capital comprising social harmony, justice, liberalism and larger good.
