Every day, a large amount of food waste (FW) is released into the environment, causing financial loss and unpredictable consequences in the world, highlighting the urgency of finding a suitable approach to treating FW. As moisture content makes up 75% of the FW, hydrothermal carbonization (HTC) is a beneficial process for the treatment of FW since it does not require extensive drying. Moreover, the process is considered favorable for carbon sequestration to mitigate climate change in comparison with other processes because the majority of the carbon in FW is integrated into hydrochar. In this work, the reaction mechanism and factors affecting the HTC of FW are scrutinized. Moreover, the physicochemical properties of products after the HTC of FW are critically presented. Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) collection is a necessary process in any municipality resulting in the quality-of-life, economic aspects and urban structuralization. The intrinsic nature of MSW collection relates to the development of effective vehicle routing models that optimize the total traveling distances of vehicles, the environmental emission and the investment costs. In this article, we propose a generalized vehicle routing model including multiple transfer stations, gather sites and inhomogeneous vehicles in time windows for MSW collection. It takes into account traveling in one-way routes, the number of vehicles per m(2) and waiting time at traffic stops for reduction of operational time. The proposed model could be used for scenarios having similar node structures and vehicles' characteristics. A case study at Danang city, Vietnam is given to illustrate the applicability of this model. The experimental results have clearly shown that the new model reduces both total traveling distances and operational hours of vehicles in comparison with those of practical scenarios. The DIOGENE hospital information system has been expanded with a centralized and integrated patient clinical database recording structured patient data. The objective is to provide a standardized framework for the building of future clinical databases and for the integration of existing heterogeneous ones. The combined 'across time view' and 'across departments view' generated from the integrated clinical data will enable an evolutionary view of the patient state, both across time and across medical specialties. For this purpose and to permit the communication and exchange of data, a new controlled vocabulary for representing clinical data has been created. The construction of this vocabulary is based on the international ICD classification, already being used in DIOGENE for encoding patient diagnosis and procedures. A new extension of the ICD is proposed for medical information that goes beyond diagnosis and procedures encoding. The building of a common clinical findings dictionary, recording the definition of clinical entities, is based on this newly developed clinical vocabulary. This process is incremental, manual and substantial.
