Featured Application: This study is of great significance for identifying and understanding the spatio-temporal evolution of the temperature field of high geothermal surrounding rock and for effective risk and disaster management in deep mine exploration. Understanding the time–space coupling characteristics of the surrounding rock temperature field in high geothermal roadways is essential for controlling heat damage in mines. However, current research primarily focuses on individually analyzing the temperature changes in the surrounding rock of roadways, either over time or space. Therefore, the Gauss–Newton iteration method is employed to model the coupling relationship between temperature, time, and space. The results demonstrate that the dual coupling function describing the temperature field of the surrounding rock in both time and space provides a more comprehensive characterization of the temperature variations. Over time, as ventilation duration increases, the fitting degree of the characteristic curve steadily rises, and the characteristic curve descends overall. In the spatial dimension, the fitting degree of the characteristic curve gradually decreases with the rise of the dimensionless radius, and the characteristic curve ascends overall. Due to the space–time coupling access, we find that anti-eavesdropping opportunities exist in underwater acoustic networks (UANs), where packets can be successfully received only by the intended receiver, but collide at the unintended receivers. These opportunities are highly spatially dependent, and this paper studies the case that linearly deployed sensor nodes directly report data toward a single collector. We found an eavesdropping ring centered around these linearly deployed sensor nodes, where the eavesdropper could steal all the reported data. Since the typical receiving-alignment-based scheduling MAC (TRAS-MAC) will expose the relative spatial information among the sensor nodes with the collector, the eavesdropper can locate the eavesdropping ring. Although moving the collector into the one-dimensional sensor node chain can degrade the eavesdropping ring to a point that constrains the eavesdropping risk, the collector's location will be subsequently exposed to the eavesdropper. To efficiently protect the reported data and prevent the exposure of the collector's location, we designed a slotted- and receiving-alignment-based scheduling MAC (SRAS-MAC). The NS-3 simulation results showed the effectiveness of the SRAS-MAC and the TRAS-MAC in protecting data from eavesdropping, which protect 90% of the data from eavesdropping in the one-eavesdropper case and up to 80% of data from eavesdropping in ten-eavesdropper cases. Moreover, unlike TRAS-MAC, which will expose the collector's location, SRAS-MAC provides multiple positions for the collector to hide, and the eavesdropper cannot distinguish where it is. We study how atmospheric turbulence affects twisted space-time beams, which are non-stationary random optical fields whose space and time dimensions are coupled with a stochastic twist. Applying the extended Huygens–Fresnel principle, we derive the mutual coherence function of a twisted space-time beam after propagating a distance z through atmospheric turbulence of arbitrary strength. We specialize the result to derive the ensemble-averaged irradiance and discuss how turbulence affects the beam’s spatial size, pulse width, and space-time twist. Lastly, we generate, in simulation, twisted space-time beam field realizations and propagate them through atmospheric phase screens to validate our analysis.

To solve the coordinated dispatch and time-space coupling problem in the distribution network with distributed generations (DGs), a novel two-stage (Heuristic search and Variable correction) dynamic reactive power dispatch strategy is proposed in this paper. Meanwhile, according to the analysis of Gauss-type and Z-type membership function, a new objective function is put forward to achieve the balance between network loss and voltage deviation. First, the pre-optimization is made in Niche genetic algorithm to coordinate on-load tap changer (OLTC), capacitor banks (CBs), and DGs. Second, the sequential fuzzy c-means (SFCM) based on artificial bee colony (ABC) algorithm is proposed and then the Heuristic search based on this method is used to formulate the day-ahead plans of OLTC and CBs. Finally, the dispatch plans of OLTC and CBs are applied to recalibrate the day-ahead dispatch plans of DGs. Comparing with existing schemes, strategies and optimization approaches based on diverse evaluation indicators, optimization results on IEEE 33-bus, IEEE 14-bus, and PG&E 69-bus test systems verify the practicality and efficiency of the proposed method. In addition, the effects on the optimization results with different adjustment step and action time of the discrete adjust devices are discussed by the IEEE 33-bus test system. In computational viscoelasticity, the spatial finite element discretization for the global solution of the weak form of the balance of momentum is coupled to the temporal discretization for solving local initial value problems (IVP) of viscoelastic flow. In this contribution we show that this global-local or space-time coupling is consistent, if the total strain tensor as the coupling quantity exhibits the same approximation order $$p$$ in time as the Runge-Kutta (RK) integration algorithm. To this end we construct interpolation polynomials, based on data at $$t_{n+1}$$, $$t_{n}$$, $$\ldots $$, $$t_{n+2-p}$$, $$p\ge 2$$, which provide consistent strain data at RK stages. This is a generalization of the idea proposed in (Eidel and Kuhn, Int J Numer Methods Eng 87(11):1046-1073, ). For lower-order strain interpolation, time integration exhibits order reduction and therefore low efficiency. For consistent strain interpolation, the adapted RK methods up to $$p=4$$ obtain full convergence order and thus approve the novel concept of consistency.
