Background: The skin condition of women is different at different ages, and skin surface lipids are also different. According to the "7–7 theory" of the Huangdi Neijing, the physiological condition of women changes significantly every 7 years, and women aged 22–28 are in the "4–7" stage as mentioned in the "7–7 theory" of the Huangdi Neijing. Women's skin is in different states at different ages and produces different lipids. Objectives: To explore the key lipids that contribute to skin differences between women aged 22–28 and 29–35 years, and to explore the relationship with physiological parameters and daily routine. Methods: Differential lipids were detected and screened between 22–28 year old (group D1) and 29–35 year old (group D2) dry‐skinned women using UPLC‐Q‐TOF‐MS and correlated between the two groups with questionnaires and physiological parameters based on basic information, lifestyle habits, work situation, and emotional stress. Results: The results showed that all of the eight major classes of lipids had the highest expression in the D2 group, with the largest differences in glycerophospholipids, glycerol esters, and fatty acids. The BMI value of D2 group was higher than that of D1 group, the skin elasticity index (R2) and brightness index (L, a, ITA values) were lower than that of D1 group, and Cer (d18:0/16:0) was positively correlated with the R2, L, a, and ITA, and LMSP01080056 (N,N‐dimethyl‐Safingol) was positively correlated with the b‐value, the LMSPGP03020013, LMSPGP03020014, LMSP03020024 were significantly negatively correlated with R2. Conclusions: Cer(d18:0/16:0) is a neurosphingol that inhibits elastase expression. N,N‐dimethyl‐Safingol readily undergoes oxidation to form yellow‐brown solids. The macromolecular structure and excessive carbonyl structure of [LMGP0302] are susceptible to cross‐linking and carbonyl stress reactions, which accelerate skin aging and reduce skin elasticity, and thus, they may be key lipids contributing to skin differences between the two age groups. Papaya is one of the most important fruit trees cultivated throughout the tropical and subtropical regions and its production is rising worldwide. Its edible part has a high nutritional and sensory value and a great commercial potential. Mature papaya is consumed fresh and has been used in food processing and cosmetic industries. Along with some other parts such as leaves, seeds or skin, papaya has been used in traditional medicine in various countries. In fact, numerous studies have reported the presence of bioactive compounds with diverse biological properties in the papaya by-products, which has motivated the expansion of their applications. Papaya by-products have been demonstrated to exert a wide range of activities (e.g.; antioxidant, anti-cancer, anti-dengue, anti-malarial, anti-fertility, diabetes prevention, insecticidal, anti-AIDS) that could be useful in pharmaceutical industry. They could be used in food industry, as a source of functional compounds and in innovative active packaging strategies, and in different cosmetic products, among other applications. Although this scenario indicates that the papaya industry could diversify and increase its economic value, there are two problems that significantly affect it: the spread of pathogens and the highly perishable nature of this fruit. On the one hand, genetic tools have been used to obtain transgenic varieties resistant to pathogens, while new preservation technologies have been explored. This review focuses on the main bioactive compounds, important physiological functions and applications of different papaya parts and also in the current development of genetically modified papaya in the industry and the research progress on storage and preservation. Pomegranate is native to the region between Iran and northern India, as well as cultivated in China with a large planting area and a variety of high-quality species. Pomegranate not only has delicious fruits and beautiful flowers, but it is rich in bioactive compounds with benefits to human health.The distribution and content of bioactive components in different organs and by-products of pomegranate have distinct characteristics. A variety of phenols, flavonoids, and triterpenoids exist in pomegranate peels and flowers, whereas the active ingredients in the leaves are mainly tannins. Arils and seeds are good sources of anthocyanins and unsaturated fatty acids, respectively. Pomegranate possesses antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, anti-diabetic, anti-cardiovascular, anti-pathogenic and skin care effects, among others. It is also widely used in food, health care, medicinal, and ornamental purposes. This review summarizes recent research progress on pomegranate, putting forward some innovative applications for the development and utilization of pomegranate resources. This review also provides a theoretical basis for the research and industrialization of pomegranate, as well as a reference for further development of pomegranate germplasm resources. Background. The transtheoretical model (TTM) views individual behavioral change as a nonlinear, dynamic process, which is consistent with the complex nature of physical activity (PA) in children and adolescents. However, within this theoretical framework, the elements that facilitate the behavioral change in PA in children and adolescents need to be further explored. Objective. A systematic review of research related to TTM-based exploration of the elements of behavioral change in PA in children and adolescents, an analysis of the strengths and weaknesses in practice, and an outlook for future research. Materials and Methods. After computer searches of the CNKI, Wan-Fang, VIP, WOS, PubMed, and EBSCO databases, two researchers independently screened articles, extracted information, and evaluated the quality of the articles. Results. A total of 25 articles (26 studies) of medium- to high-quality were included in the systematic review. The meta-analysis included 30,106 children and adolescents aged 11.24 to 17.7 years. The counter-conditioning and self-liberation of the process of change, self-efficacy and decisional balance are key elements that facilitate the transition of the PA stage in children and adolescents. Extramodel psychological variables such as exercise motivation play a moderate to large role in the PA stage transition. In addition, VPA is an important discriminator of PA stage transition in children and adolescents. Conclusion. It is recommended that interventions be designed according to the key elements of behavioral change in order to better facilitate the PA stage transition of children and adolescents. Peony seed oil, a type of tree nut oil, has attracted the attention of nutritionists for its rich nutritional content. The aim of this study was to extract oil from the peony seed utilizing green and efficient methods. Specifically, aqueous enzymatic extraction was optimized using the Plackett–Burman design combined with the mixture design to extract the optimal enzyme ratio of peony seed oil. When the dosage of enzymes was 10 mg protein/g peony seed, the optimal ratios of the dosages of papain, cellulase, and pectinase were 16.15%, 31.33%, and 52.53%, respectively. Subsequently, central composite design was adopted to optimize supercritical CO2 extraction to identify the process parameters of extracting residual oil from the residue of the aqueous enzymatic extraction. Almost 6.30% of peony seed oil could be obtained from the residue using continuous extraction for 1.58 h at 49.41 °C and 59.75 Mpa. After mixing the peony seed oil extracted by the two processes, its physicochemical indices were measured. Compared with commercial peony seed oil extracted based on the organic solvent leaching method, the elative density and iodine value were higher based on our approach, whereas the other indices showed no significant differences. Thus, the two-step strategy combining the aqueous enzymatic method and supercritical CO2 extraction can be effectively applied to peony seed oil production. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The antitumor effects of Lycium ruthenicum Murr. polysaccharides (LRPS) and Lycium ruthenicum Murr. anthocyanins (LRAC) were comprehensively investigated in this study. LPRS was obtained by water extraction and alcohol precipitation and further purified using diethylaminoethyl cellulose (DEAE‐Cellulose) and Sephadex G‐75 columns. High‐performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and Fourier transform‐infrared (FT‐IR) spectroscopy were used to characterize the purified LRPS. The results showed that the purified LRPS contained heteropolysaccharides, mainly composed of arabinose, galactose, and glucose with weight percentage of 41.2%, 33.6%, and 10.8%, respectively. More importantly, LRPS (500 μg/ml) and LRAC (80 μg/ml) failed to impede the proliferation of tumor cells when applied solely (48 h incubation), yet remarkable antineoplastic effects were found once they were applied altogether, since the LoVo cells, a typical human colorectal carcinoma cell line, were significantly inhibited by the mixture of LRPS (150 μg/ml) and LRAC (20 μg/ml) (LRPS&AC) in 24 h. The antineoplastic activity resulted from the combination of both LRPS and LRAC (LRPS&AC), by means of blocking the cell cycle at the G0–G1 phase and inducing LoVo cell apoptosis via reactive oxygen species (ROS)‐dependent pathway. The inhibitory effects of LRPS&AC were specific to the tumor cells, without imposing on the proliferation of normal cells. Western blotting revealed that the antitumor effect was related to the mitochondria‐mediated apoptosis launched by the cross‐action of PI3K/Akt (phosphatidylinositol 3‐kinase/protein kinase B) and JAK2/STAT3 (janus kinase 2/signal transduction and activator of transcription 3) signaling pathways. These findings for the first time reveal the synergistic antitumor effects of LRPS&AC and the related mechanisms, which enable Lycium ruthenicum Murr. to serve as a natural source to develop therapeutic reagents and functional foods with antineoplastic properties. All‐inorganic lead‐free perovskite‐derivative metal halides have shown great promise in optoelectronics, however, it remains challenging to realize efficient near‐infrared (NIR) luminescence in these materials. Herein, we report a novel strategy based on Te4+/Ln3+ (Ln=Er, Nd, and Yb) co‐doping to achieve efficient NIR luminescence in vacancy‐ordered double perovskite Cs2ZrCl6 phosphors, which are excitable by a low‐cost near‐ultraviolet light‐emitting diode (LED) chip. Through sensitization by the spin‐orbital allowed 1S0→3P1 transition of Te4+, intense and multi‐wavelength NIR luminescence originating from the 4f→4f transitions of Er3+, Nd3+, and Yb3+ was acquired, with a quantum yield of 6.1 % for the Er3+ emission. These findings provide a general approach to achieve efficient NIR emission in lead‐free metal halides through ns2‐metal and lanthanide ion co‐doping, thereby opening up a new avenue for exploring NIR‐emitting perovskite derivatives towards versatile applications such as NIR‐LEDs and bioimaging. Luminescent metal halides have attracted considerable attention in next‐generation solid‐state lighting because of their superior optical properties and easy solution processibility. Herein, we report a new class of highly efficient and dual‐band‐tunable white‐light emitters based on Bi3+/Te4+ co‐doped perovskite derivative Cs2SnCl6 microcrystals. Owing to the strong electron‐phonon coupling and efficient energy transfer from Bi3+ to Te4+, the microcrystals exhibited broad dual‐band white‐light emission originating from the inter‐configurational 3P0,1→1S0 transitions of Bi3+ and Te4+, with good stability and a high photoluminescence (PL) quantum yield of up to 68.3 %. Specifically, a remarkable transition in Bi3+‐PL lifetime from milliseconds at 10 K to microseconds at 300 K was observed, as solid evidence for the isolated Bi3+ emission. These findings provide not only new insights into the excited‐state dynamics of Bi3+ and Te4+ in Cs2SnCl6, but also a general approach to achieve single‐composition white‐light emitters based on lead‐free metal halides through ns2‐metal ion co‐doping. Abstract Background Wheat is one of the most important cereal crops for human beings, with seeds being the tissue of highly economic value. Various morphogenetic and metabolic processes are exclusively associated with seed maturation. The goal of this study was to screen and identify genes specifically expressed in the developing seed of wheat with an integrative utilization of digital differential display (DDD) and available online microarray databases. Results A total of 201 unigenes were identified as the results of DDD screening and microarray database searching. The expressions of 6 of these were shown to be seed-specific by qRT-PCR analysis. Further GO enrichment analysis indicated that seed-specific genes were mainly associated with defense response, response to stress, multi-organism process, pathogenesis, extracellular region, nutrient reservoir activity, enzyme inhibitor activity, antioxidant activity and oxidoreductase activity. A comparison of this set of genes with the rice (Oryza sativa) genome was also performed and approximately three-fifths of them have rice counterparts. Between the counterparts, around 63% showed similar expression patterns according to the microarray data. Conclusions In conclusion, the DDD screening combined with microarray data analysis is an effective strategy for the identification of seed-specific expressed genes in wheat. These seed-specific genes screened during this study will provide valuable information for further studies about the functions of these genes in wheat.

BACKGROUND Steam explosion is increasingly being used in the food processing industry as an efficient pretreatment technology. It is currently being used to pretreat adzuki beans at a pressure of 0.25–1.0 Mpa for 30 s and 90 s. In this study, the total polyphenol (TP) content in adzuki beans, including free polyphenols (FP) and bound polyphenols (BP), and their antioxidant activity, were determined after steam explosion treatment. RESULTS: The results showed that steam explosion can form large cavities and intercellular spaces, which aid the release of polyphenols. After steam explosion, the FP, BP, and TP content increased. The antioxidant capacity of FP and BP also increased, which demonstrated that there was a positive correlation between the polyphenol content and antioxidant capacity. Compounds of FP and BP were further identified by high‐performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). Protocatechin was the main ingredient in FP and BP, and protocatechin was higher in FP. Isoquercetin only exists in FP, and caffeic acid only in BP. After steam explosion, an increase in the protocatechin, catechin, and epicatechin content was detected in FP and BP. The phenolic compound and antioxidant capacity yield was increased at a pressure of 0.25–0.75 Mpa, however it decreased at 1.0 Mpa. A pressure of 0.75 Mpa for 90 s is the optimal condition for polyphenol separation in adzuki beans. The existing lower limb prostheses with passive knees have disadvantages, causing an asymmetric gait and higher metabolic cost during level walking which is in contrast with a normal gait. However, most existing active knee prostheses need a significant amount of energy. In this paper, a novel hybrid passive–active knee prosthesis (HPAK) that allows passive and active operating modes is proposed, which contains an active motor unit and a novel hydraulic damper with an electrically controlled valve that adjusts the damping torque dynamically during each gait cycle. An energy consumption model was built to evaluate the energy consumption when walking on level ground in three different simulation conditions to, respectively, simulate the complete HPAK, an ordinary active prosthesis (AKP) and an ordinary passive prosthesis (PKP). The results show that, in a cycle, the HPAK consumes only 16.19 J, which is 3.6 times lower than the AKP (58.95 J), and the PKP consumes only 1.24 J due to the novel spring–hydraulic damper structure designed and presented in this paper. These results indicate that the proposed novel hybrid passive–active knee prosthesis can have a positive effect on reducing energy consumption and improving the approximation of healthy gait characteristics when walking on level ground, contrasting with active or passive knee prostheses. BACKGROUND Plant polyphenols are rich in blueberries that have a wide range of properties beneficial to human health. There are two types, according to the solubility of polyphenols, which were defined as extractable polyphenols ( EPP) and non-extractable polyphenols ( NEPP), respectively. At present, in most of reports, 'total polyphenol' refers only to EPP excluding NEPP. In this paper, the effects of EPP and NEPP on lipopolysaccharides ( LPS) induced production of nitric oxide ( NO) and gene expression of inducible NO synthase ( iNOS) and cyclooxygenase-2 ( COX-2) in RAW264.7 cells via nuclear factor- κB ( NF-κB) signalling pathway were compared. RESULTS The results showed that EPP and NEPP from blueberries significantly inhibited the LPS-induced production of NO and gene expression of iNOS and COX-2 in cells. The constitutive level of p65 sub-unit of NF-κB was obviously detected after the treatments with EPP or NEPP. By contrast, the level of phosphorylated p65 (P-p65) was strongly inhibited by EPP or NEPP. EPP had a stronger inhibition on the gene expression of iNOS and COX-2 than that of NEPP. CONCLUSION These findings of inhibition of iNOS and COX-2 mRNA expression through the suppression of NF-κB suggest that EPP and ENPP from blueberries have significant anti-inflammatory effect and may be a potential medicine. © 2015 Society of Chemical Industry [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The antibacterial and antibiofilm mechanisms of ultrasound combined with chlorogenic acid treatment for Salmonella enteritidis under biofilm and planktonic condition were investigated. S. enteritidis under biofilm and planktonic cells were treated with ultrasound, chlorogenic acid, and their combination for 5, 10, 20, 30, and 60 min. Results showed that the combined treatments exhibited synergistic effects that inactivated the S. enteritidis biofilm and planktonic cells. The nucleic acids and ATP leakage and CLSM imagines showed that the combining chlorogenic acid and ultrasound treatment significantly increased the permeability of the S. enteritidis cell membrane. SEM indicated that the combining chlorogenic acid and ultrasound treatment quickly destroyed the integrity of the S. enteritidis cell membrane, and the activity of respiratory chain dehydrogenase sharply decreased. Additionally, the amounts of polysaccharides in the S. enteritidis biofilms significantly decreased after the combined treatments. Borago officinalis is a kind of vegetable and traditional medicinal herb in the Mediterranean region, and now it has spread many areas around the world. In this study, we sequenced a complete chloroplast (cp) genome sequence of B. officinalis to investigate its phylogenetic relationship with other species. The whole cp genome of B. officinalis is 149,835 bp in length with 37.82% overall GC content, including a large single-copy (LSC) region of 78,840 bp and a small single-copy (SSC) region of 16,967 bp, which are separated by a pair of inverted repeats (IRs) of 27,014 bp. The cp genome contains 110 genes, including 76 protein-coding genes, 30 tRNA genes, and 4 rRNA genes. The phylogenetic analysis based on cp genome sequences showed that B. officinalis is closely related to Antirhea chinensis, Mitragyna speciosa and Neolamarckia cadamba. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study evaluated the effect of the combination of ultrasound and phenyllactic acid (PLA) on inactivating Staphylococcus aureus and Salmonella enteritidis biofilm cells and determined the possible antibiofilm mechanism. S. aureus and S. enteritidis biofilm cells were separately treated with ultrasound (US, 270 W), phenyllactic acid (PLA, 0.5% and 1%), and their combination (US + 0.5% PLA, and US + 1% PLA) for 5, 10, 20, 30, and 60 min. Biofilm inactivation, polysaccharide, and respiratory chain dehydrogenase assays were conducted. US and PLA had a synergistic effect on inactivating bacterial cells in S. aureus and S. enteritidis biofilms. The combination of US and PLA significantly decreased the contents of soluble and insoluble polysaccharides and the activity of respiratory chain dehydrogenase in the biofilm cells compared to the single treatment. Confocal laser scanning microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and intracellular adenosine-triphosphate (ATP) analyses indicated that the combination of US and PLA seriously destroyed the cell membrane integrity of the S. aureus and S. enteritidis biofilms and caused the leakage of intracellular ATP. Perillaldehyde is a natural antibacterial agent extracted from perilla essential oil. In our methodology, five antibacterial nanofiber packaging films are prepared by loading different concentrations of perillaldehyde (P) into gelatin/zein (G/Z) polymers. Morphology observations show that the G/Z/P film had a good uniform microstructure and nano-diameter as the weight ratio of 5:1:0.02 (G/Z/P). Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and X-ray indicate that these three ingredients had good compatibility and strong interaction via hydrogen bonding. Water contact angle results show that the G/Z/P films gradually change from hydrophilic to hydrophobic with the increase of perillaldehyde. Thermal analysis indicates that the G/Z/P (5:1:0.02) film has good thermal stability. Antibacterial and storage analysis indicates that G/Z/P (5:1:0.02) film is effective to inactivate Staphylococcus aureus and Salmonella enteritidis, and obviously reduces the increasing rate of total bacteria counts and volatile basic nitrogen of chicken breasts. Biodegradable and eco-friendly food packaging materials have attracted attention. Novel blending films were prepared with polylactic acid (PLA) and Perilla essential oil (PEsO). The morphological features of the nanofibers were modulated by adjusting process parameters (e.g. PLA solution concentration, applied voltage and ultrasonic power). The optimal spinning concentrations, applied voltages and ultrasonic power of the PLA solutions were set at 15% (m/v), 20 kV and 640 W, respectively. Compared with the PLA films, the addition of PEsO increased the diameter of the nanofibers and solvent resistance and reduced the swelling rate of the PLA/PEsO films. The breakage elongation and the gas barrier properties significantly improved when 2% (w/w) PEsO was used. Fourier infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffractometer, thermogravimetry and differential scanning were used in analyzing the potential interactions of the film matrices. The PLA/PEsO films had good biocompatibility and antibacterial and antioxidant properties. The PLA/PEsO (1:0.02) film loaded with 2% PEsO extended the shelf life of chilled chicken to 12 days, as indicated by the measured total volatile basic nitrogen (TVB-N), total viable count and pH value. Levels of microRNA 31 (MIR31) are increased in intestinal tissues from patients with inflammatory bowel diseases and colitis-associated neoplasias. We investigated the effects of this microRNA on intestinal inflammation by studying mice with colitis. We obtained colon biopsy samples from 82 patients with ulcerative colitis (UC), 79 patients with Crohn's disease (CD), and 34 healthy individuals (controls) at Shanghai Tenth People's Hospital. MIR31- knockout mice and mice with conditional disruption of Mir31 specifically in the intestinal epithelium (MIR31 conditional knockouts) were given dextran sulfate sodium (DSS) or 2,4,6-trinitrobenzene sulfonic acid (TNBS) to induce colitis. We performed chromatin immunoprecipitation and luciferase assays to study proteins that regulate expression of MIR31, including STAT3 and p65, in LOVO colorectal cancer cells and organoids derived from mouse colon cells. Partially hydrolyzed alpha-lactalbumin was used to generate peptosome nanoparticles, and MIR31 mimics were loaded onto their surface using electrostatic adsorption. Peptosome–MIR31 mimic particles were encapsulated into oxidized konjac glucomannan (OKGM) microspheres, which were administered by enema into the large intestines of mice with DSS-induced colitis. Intestinal tissues were collected and analyzed by histology and immunohistochemistry. Levels of MIR31 were increased in inflamed mucosa from patients with CD or UC, and from mice with colitis, compared with controls. STAT3 and nuclear factor-κB activated transcription of MIR31 in colorectal cancer cells and organoids in response to tumor necrosis factor and interleukin (IL)6. MIR31-knockout and conditional-knockout mice developed more severe colitis in response to DSS and TNBS, with increased immune responses, compared with control mice. MIR31 bound to 3ʹ untranslated regions of Il17ra and Il7r messenger RNAs (RNAs) (which encode receptors for the inflammatory cytokines IL17 and IL7) and Il6st mRNA (which encodes GP130, a cytokine signaling protein). These mRNAs and proteins were greater in MIR31-knockout mice with colitis, compared with control mice; MIR31 and MIR31 mimics inhibited their expression. MIR31 also promoted epithelial regeneration by regulating the WNT and Hippo signaling pathways. OKGM peptosome–MIR31 mimic microspheres localized to colonic epithelial cells in mice with colitis; they reduced the inflammatory response, increased body weight and colon length, and promoted epithelial cell proliferation. MIR31, increased in colon tissues from patients with CD or UC, reduces the inflammatory response in colon epithelium of mice by preventing expression of inflammatory cytokine receptors (Il7R and Il17RA) and signaling proteins (GP130). MIR31 also regulates the WNT and Hippo signaling pathways to promote epithelial regeneration following injury. Soybean is one of the most economically important crops in the world. Soybean seeds have abundant protein and lipid content and very high economic value. In this study, a total of 184 seed-specific genes were obtained using online microarray databases, DDD, and RNA-seq data. The reported seed-specific genes in soybean and the 184 seed-specific genes analyzed in this paper were compared. Of the screened genes, 26 were common to both previous reports and the current screening. Meanwhile, 90 of the 184 genes have homologous counterparts in Arabidopsis , among which 24 have seed-specific expression, as indicated by microarray data for Arabidopsis . Furthermore, promoter analysis showed that almost all seed-specific genes contain at least one seed specific-related element. Seed-specific element Skn-1 motif exists in most, if not all, of the seed-specific genes screened. Five genes were randomly selected from 184 soybean seed specific gene pool and their expressions were quantified using quantitative real time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) to further confirm the specificity of the screened genes. The results indicated that all five genes showed seed-specific expression. Constructs with sucrose-sucrose 1-fructosyltransferase (1-SST) from rye and or sucrose-fructan 6-fructosyltransferase (6-SFT) from wheat were placed under the control of wheat aleurone-specific promoter and expressed in triticale using biolistic and microspore transformation. Transgenic lines expressing one or both the 1-SST and the 6-SFT accumulated 50% less starch and 10–20 times more fructan, particularly 6-kestose, in the dry seed compared to the untransformed wild-type (WT) triticale; other fructans ranged in size from DP 4 to DP 15. During germination from 1 to 4 days after imbibition (dai), fructans were rapidly metabolized and only in transgenic lines expressing both 1-SST and 6-SFT were fructan contents significantly higher than in the untransformed controls after 4 days. In situ hybridization confirmed expression of 6-SFT in the aleurone layer in imbibed seeds of transformed plants. When transgenic lines were subjected to a cold stress of 4°C for 2 days, synthesis of fructan increased compared to untransformed controls during low-temperature germination. The increase of fructan in dry seed and germinating seedling was generally associated with transcript expression levels in transformed plants but total gene expression was not necessarily correlated with the time course accumulation of fructan during germination. The triose phosphate/phosphate translocator (TPT) is located in the inner envelope membrane of plant chloroplast. It catalyzes the counter exchange of triose phosphate/3-phosphoglycerate for phosphate. To reveal the relationship between the TPT structure and its function, a cDNA encoding the complete precursor of TPT has been isolated from rice by using RT-PCR and rapid amplification of cDNA ends (RACE) strategies. The rice tpt was identified as a single copy gene by using Southern blotting. And it was mapped to chromosome 1. The rice TPT mRNA encodes a precursor protein of 417 amino acids with a deduced molecular weight of 44 kDa. A putative processing site between Ala-95 and Ala-96 of the precursor protein was suggested by comparison with the TPTs from spinach and maize. Therefore, the mature part of rice TPT consists of 322 amino acid residues with a molecular weight of 35 kDa. It shares 89% homology with maize and 93% with wheat. But the transit peptide and about 20 amino acids at N-end of the mature part showed a much lower homology to other plant TPTs. The mature protein exhibits high hydrophobicity and consists of seven transmembrane regions. High expression level of the TPT mRNA was detected in tissues such as leaf and coleoptile, while no apparent expression was detected in root and seed. Introduction: Metabolic-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) is a common chronic metabolic disease that seriously threatens human health. The pharmacological activity of unsaturated fatty acid-rich vegetable oil interventions in the treatment of MAFLD has been demonstrated. This study evaluated the pharmacological activity of Polygala tenuifolia Willd, which contains high levels of 2-acetyl-1,3-diacyl-sn-glycerols (sn-2-acTAGs). Methods: In this study, a mouse model was established by feeding a high-fat diet (HFD, 31% lard oil diet), and the treatment group was fed a P. tenuifolia seed oil (PWSO) treatment diet (17% lard oil and 14% PWSO diet). The pharmacological activity and mechanism of PWSO were investigated by total cho-lesterol (TC) measurement, triglyceride (TG) measurement and histopathological observation, and the sterol regulatory element-binding protein-1 (SREBP1), SREBP2 and NF-κB signaling pathways were evaluated by immunofluorescence and Western blot analyses. Results: PWSO attenuated the increases in plasma TC and TG levels. Furthermore, PWSO reduced the hepatic levels of TC and TG, ameliorating hepatic lipid accumulation. PWSO treatment effectively improves the level of hepatitic inflammation, such as reducing IL-6 levels and TNF-α level. Discussion: PWSO treatment inactivated SREBP1 and SREBP2, which are involved in lipogenesis, to attenuate hepatic lipid accumulation and mitigate the inflammatory response induced via the NF-κB signaling pathway. Hyperuricemia is the result of increased production and/or underexcretion of uric acid. Hyperuricemia has been epidemiologically associated with multiple comorbidities, including metabolic syndrome, gout with long-term systemic inflammation, chronic kidney disease, urolithiasis, cardiovascular disease, hypertension, rheumatoid arthritis, dyslipidemia, diabetes/insulin resistance and increased oxidative stress. Dysregulation of xanthine oxidoreductase (XOD), the enzyme that catalyzes uric acid biosynthesis primarily in the liver, and urate transporters that reabsorb urate in the renal proximal tubules (URAT1, GLUT9, OAT4 and OAT10) and secrete urate (ABCG2, OAT1, OAT3, NPT1, and NPT4) in the renal tubules and intestine, is a major cause of hyperuricemia, along with variations in the genes encoding these proteins. The first-line therapeutic drugs used to lower serum uric acid levels include XOD inhibitors that limit uric acid biosynthesis and uricosurics that decrease urate reabsorption in the renal proximal tubules and increase urate excretion into the urine and intestine via urate transporters. However, long-term use of high doses of these drugs induces acute kidney disease, chronic kidney disease and liver toxicity. Therefore, there is an urgent need for new nephroprotective drugs with improved safety profiles and tolerance. The current systematic review summarizes the characteristics of major urate transporters, the mechanisms underlying the pathogenesis of hyperuricemia, and the regulation of uric acid biosynthesis and transport. All-inorganic lead-free perovskite-derivative metal halides have shown great promise in optoelectronics, however, it remains challenging to realize efficient near-infrared (NIR) luminescence in these materials. Herein, we report a novel strategy based on Te 4+ /Ln 3+ (Ln=Er, Nd, and Yb) co-doping to achieve efficient NIR luminescence in vacancy-ordered double perovskite Cs 2 ZrCl 6 phosphors, which are excitable by a low-cost near-ultraviolet light-emitting diode (LED) chip. Through sensitization by the spin-orbital allowed 1 S 0 → 3 P 1 transition of Te 4+ , intense and multi-wavelength NIR luminescence originating from the 4f→4f transitions of Er 3+ , Nd 3+ , and Yb 3+ was acquired, with a quantum yield of 6.1 % for the Er 3+ emission. Luminescent metal halides have attracted considerable attention in next-generation solid-state lighting because of their superior optical properties and easy solution processibility. Herein, we report a new class of highly efficient and dual-band-tunable white-light emitters based on Bi 3+ /Te 4+ co-doped perovskite derivative Cs 2 SnCl 6 microcrystals. Owing to the strong electron-phonon coupling and efficient energy transfer from Bi 3+ to Te 4+ , the microcrystals exhibited broad dual-band white-light emission originating from the inter-configurational 3 P 0,1 → 1 S 0 transitions of Bi 3+ and Te 4+ , with good stability and a high photoluminescence (PL) quantum yield of up to 68.3 %. Specifically, a remarkable transition in Bi 3+ -PL lifetime from milliseconds at 10 K to microseconds at 300 K was observed, as solid evidence for the isolated Bi 3+ emission. Background: Shading is an important factor affecting the cultivation of American ginseng, as it influences crop quality and yield. Rhizosphere microorganisms are also crucial for normal plant growth and development. However, whether different shade types significantly change American ginseng rhizosphere microorganisms is unknown., Methods: This study evaluated the rhizosphere soils of American ginseng under traditional, high flag and high arch shade sheds. High-throughput 16S rRNA gene sequencing determined the change of rhizosphere bacterial communities., Results: The microbial diversity in rhizosphere soils of American ginseng significantly changed under different shading conditions. The bacteria diversity was more abundant in the high arch shade than flat and traditional shades. Different bacterial genera, including Bradyrhizobium , Rhizobium , Sphingomonas , Streptomyces and Nitrospira , showed significantly different abundances. Different shading conditions changed the microbial metabolic function in the American ginseng rhizosphere soils. The three types of shade sheds had specific enriched functional groups. The abundance of ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporters consistently increased in the bacterial microbiota. Chinese garlic powder (GP) is exported to all countries in the world, but the excess of microorganisms is a serious problem that affects export. The number of microorganisms has a serious impact on the pricing of GP. It is very important to detect and control the microorganism in GP. The purpose of this study was to investigate the contamination and drug resistance of microorganisms during the processing of GP. We used metagenomics and Illumina sequencing to study the composition and dynamic distribution of antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs), but also the microbial community in three kinds of garlic products from factory processing. The results showed that a total of 126 ARG genes were detected in all the samples, which belonged to 11 ARG species. With the processing of GP, the expression of ARGs showed a trend to increase at first and then to decrease. Intestinal regeneration and tumorigenesis are believed to be driven by intestinal stem cells (ISCs). Elucidating mechanisms underlying ISC activation during regeneration and tumorigenesis can help uncover the underlying principles of intestinal homeostasis and disease including colorectal cancer. Here we show that miR-31 drives ISC proliferation, and protects ISCs against apoptosis, both during homeostasis and regeneration in response to ionizing radiation injury. Furthermore, miR-31 has oncogenic properties, promoting intestinal tumorigenesis. Mechanistically, miR-31 acts to balance input from Wnt, BMP, TGFβ signals to coordinate control of intestinal homeostasis, regeneration and tumorigenesis. We further find that miR-31 is regulated by the STAT3 signaling pathway in response to radiation injury. These findings identify miR-31 as a critical modulator of ISC biology, and a potential therapeutic target for a broad range of intestinal regenerative disorders and cancers.
