INTRODUCTION: Metastatic disease to the breast is a rare condition, with contralateral breast metastasis being the most common primary site. CASE PRESENTATION: We present the case of a patient who underwent treatment for an HPV positive squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the cervix who, during follow-up, complained of a nodule in her left breast. Anatomopathological results indicating squamous carcinoma, which was not able to be differentiated from breast metaplastic carcinoma. Resection of the lesion was carried out, confirming carcinoma with squamous cell differentiation with negativity for GCDFP-15, mammaglobin, p63 and SOX10, but with positivity for p16 and for high risk HPV, confirming a single metastatic lesion of cervical carcinoma. DISCUSSION/CONCLUSION: In the presence of SCC in the breast, the differential diagnosis may consider the presence of primary lesion, metaplastic carcinoma with squamous cell differentiation or metastatic disease. The use of markers such as p63, SOX10 and p16, may help for a definitive diagnosis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Introduction: Neoadjuvant endocrine therapy (NET) is recommended for the treatment of invasive breast cancer (BC), particularly luminal subtypes, in locally advanced stages. Previous randomized studies have demonstrated the benefits of aromatase inhibitors in this context. However, NET is typically reserved for elderly or frail patients who may not tolerate neoadjuvant chemotherapy. Identifying non-responsive patients early and extending treatment for responsive ones would be ideal, yet optimal strategies are awaited., Aims: This non-randomized phase 2 clinical trial aims to assess NET feasibility and efficacy in postmenopausal stage II and III luminal BC patients, identifying predictive therapeutic response biomarkers. Efficacy will be gauged by patients with Ki67 ≤ 10% after 4 weeks and Preoperative Endocrine Prognostic Index (PEPI) scores 0 post-surgery. Study feasibility will be determined by participation acceptance rate (recruitment rate ≥50%) and inclusion rate (>2 patients/month)., Methods: Postmenopausal women with luminal, HER2-tumors in stages II and III undergo neoadjuvant anastrozole treatment, evaluating continuing NET or receiving chemotherapy through early Ki67 analysis after 2 to 4 weeks. The study assesses NET extension for up to 10 months, using serial follow-ups with standardized breast ultrasound and clinical criteria-based NET suspension. Clinical and pathological responses will be measured overall and in the luminal tumor A subgroup. Aim: To evaluate the effect of a clinical quality control program on the final quality of a mammography screening service., Materials and Methods: We conducted retrospective assessment of the clinical quality of 5,000 mammograms taken in a Mammography Screening Program between November 2010 and September 2011, following the implementation of a Clinical Quality Control Program based on the European Guidelines., Results: Among the 105,000 evaluated quality items, there were 8,588 failures (8.2%) - 1.7 failures per examination. Altogether, 89% of the failures were associated with positioning. The recall rate due to a technical error reached a maximum of 0.5% in the early phase of the observation period and subsequently stabilized (0.09%)., Conclusion: The ongoing education and monitoring combined with personalized training increased the critical thinking of the involved professionals, reducing the technical failures and unnecessary exposure of patients to radiation, with substantial improvement in the final quality of mammography., (Copyright© 2014 International Institute of Anticancer Research (Dr. John G.
