Low-dimensional molybdenum disulfide (MoS
2 ) possesses great potential in many fields due to its intriguing optical, electronic and catalytic characteristics. In the last decade, the preparation, property studies and emerging multi-functional applications of MoS2 -based hybrids have attracted considerable attention. It is crucial for composites to overcome the limitation of individual MoS2 materials. Meanwhile, the relationship between metal (Au, Ag, Bi, etc.) plasmonic nanostructures and MoS2 is closely connected, and their emerging characteristics have been studied based on the bottom-up synthesis of hybrid materials, as well as the assembly of different prefabricated components. Significantly, several intrinsic drawbacks of MoS2 nanostructures may be addressed after the integration of MoS2 and nano-plasmonics has been remarkably achieved. MoS2 nanostructures with diverse characteristics are improved by the plasmonic metal nanomaterials. Due to the importance of the integrated MoS2 and metal plasmonics, the recent synthesis routes of hybrids are comprehensively presented. More importantly, on the basis of their improved electronic and photonic characteristics, the expanded applications of MoS2 and plasmonics nano-hybrids, such as sensing, catalysis, electronic devices and biomedicine, are also included in this review. 9. Accelerating Decreases in the Incidences of Hepatocellular Carcinoma at a Younger Age in Shanghai Are Associated With Hepatitis B Virus Vaccination.

Background: Routine vaccination of infants for protecting against hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection and its serious consequences, including hepatocellular cancer (HCC), has been carried out in Shanghai, China, since 1986. We therefore have examined the trend of HBV infection and HCC incidences before and after HBV vaccination over decades to assess the potential influences of the Shanghai HBV vaccination program. Methods: Data on incidences of HBV infection and HCC were collected from the Shanghai Cancer Registry and the Shanghai HBV vaccination follow-up study. Joint-point regression and the Bayesian age-period-cohort statistical analysis methods were used. Results: The incidences of HBV infection dramatically declined from 23.09 and 1.13 per 100,000 for males and females in 2000 to 3.24 (-85.97%) and 0.22 (-80.53%) per 100,000 in 2014, respectively. Sero-epidemiological data from the sampling surveys during 20 years of follow-up showed that less than 1% of people undergoing HBV vaccination have a positive serum HBsAg. Consistently, the annual adjusted standardization rates (ASR) of HCC steadily fell from 33.38 and 11.65 per 100,000 for males and females in 1973 to 17.34 (-49.2%) and 5.60 (-51.9%) per 100,000 in 2014, respectively. The annual percentage change in overall HCC incidences is about -2%. HCC incidences in males at younger age groups (age <50 years old), particularly in those with age <34 groups, showed an accelerating decrease over time, whereas HCC incidences significantly declined in the female population across all age groups except for those under 19 years of age. The results supported that the universal HBV vaccination in newborns is easy to implement with high coverages and is effective for preventing both HBV infection and HCC in populations. Objective: To observe clinical curative effect of acupotomy integral release with tui na manipulation treating knee osteoarthritis. Methods: 80 cases of knee osteoarthritis patients should randomly divide into treatment group and control group with 40 cases in each group according to the random number table method. Patients in the control group should give acupuncture and tui na manipulation treatment. Patients in the treatment group should give acupotomy (small needle knife) and tui na manipulation treatment. It should observe and compare the visual analogue scale (VAS) scores and clinical total effective rate between two groups. Results: Total effective rate of treatment group was 94.87%, and total effective rate of control group was 81.57%. Comparison between two groups indicated that the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). Comparison of VAS scores within each group before and after the treatment indicated that the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). Moreover, comparison of VAS scores between two groups indicated that the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). Conclusions: Treatment of acupotomy (small needle knife) and tui na manipulation has better curative effect to treat knee osteoarthritis in clinic. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
The article presents a study which investigates the status of hepatitis E virus infection of livestock in Kashi, China. It notes the collection of bile samples from swine, cattle and sheep in a local slaughter house to examine it using reverse transcriptase nested polymerase chain reaction (RT-nPCR) and homology analysis. The study found out that the high endothelial venules (HEV) strains were similar to genotype IV of hepatitis E virus, and swine has been the main reservoir of the infection.

We have produced stretchable lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) using the concept of kirigami, i.e., a combination of folding and cutting. The designated kirigami patterns have been discovered and implemented to achieve great stretchability (over 150%) to LIBs that are produced by standardized battery manufacturing. It is shown that fracture due to cutting and folding is suppressed by plastic rolling, which provides kirigami LIBs excellent electrochemical and mechanical characteristics. The kirigami LIBs have demonstrated the capability to be integrated and power a smart watch, which may disruptively impact the field of wearable electronics by offering extra physical and functionality design spaces. 14. Immunogenicity of Hepatitis B Vaccine in Preterm or Low Birth Weight Infants: A Meta-Analysis.

Context: The study aims to quantitatively assess the immune response to hepatitis B vaccine in infants born preterm or with low birth weight.Evidence Acquisition: In December 2018, a literature search was conducted in 4 databases without date restrictions. The pooled ORs, mean differences, and their corresponding 95% CIs were calculated with random-effects models using the DerSimonian-Laird estimator. The potential risk of bias of each study was assessed using the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale. The stability and publication bias of the pooled estimates were also evaluated. Analyses were completed in 2019.Evidence Synthesis: A total of 27 studies including 22,202 infants were eligible for analysis. The studies found that infants born preterm had significantly poorer immune responses to the hepatitis B vaccine. Preterm infants were 1.36 times more likely to exhibit nonresponse to the hepatitis B vaccine (95% CI=1.12, 1.65, p=0.002) compared with their full-term counterparts. The pooled estimates for preterm birth may be subject to a potential publication bias. However, these results were stable, as suggested by the leave-one-out analysis and fail-safe number. The association between low birth weight and impaired immune response to the hepatitis B vaccine was not statistically significant when birth weight was dichotomized at 2,500 g.Conclusions: These findings suggest an association between preterm birth and lowered immune responses to hepatitis B vaccine. - Abstract
The coffee-ring effect is an eye-catching circle originating from a material-suspended liquid droplet at a solid substrate after liquid evaporation, but the low speediness has restricted practical applications. When nanomaterial aqueous solutions are dropped onto porous nitrocellulose (NC), the liquid is immediately absorbed through the porous tunnels of paper fibers, and nanomaterials are rapidly enriched on the contact lines between droplets and membranes. We called this ultrafast variant of the coffee ring effect the "tunneling coffee ring" (TCR). When nanomaterial sizes are smaller than that of pores, a larger-diameter ring of nanomaterials quickly materializes. The real-time particle size-dependent TCRs and liquid diffusion rings exhibit a dual-ring pattern on the NC membrane. The tunneling speed of the capillary effect is so fast that the pattern appears within seconds. We apply the TCR effect as a size-surface affinity-particle/fluid separation sensor for bacteria. Dextran-modified Au and MoS
2 nanostructures are proposed to be antibody-free microbe kits. Our TCR effect is used to distinguish between particles of different sizes and affinities, which are highly relevant in complicated systems without electricity and equipment in resource-poor settings.- Published

16. Association Between Nasal Colonization of Staphylococcus aureus and Eczema of Multiple Body Sites.

- Abstract
Purpose: Staphylococcus aureus is the critical pathogenic bacterium of eczema. The relationship between nasal colonization by S. aureus and eczema has not been well studied. We aimed to evaluate the associations between nasal colonization by S. aureus and eczema of multiple body sites, including persistent and ever-reported eczema. We further examined the associations between eczema and different subtypes of S. aureus , that is, methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA) and methicillin-sensitive S. aureus (MSSA)., Methods: The real-world data from the US National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey were used. The associations were calculated using survey-weighted multinomial logistic regression models and further calculated in subgroups stratified by demographic factors., Results: In total, 2,941 adults were included. The prevalence rate of S. aureus nasal carriage was significantly higher in adults with persistent hand eczema (51.0%) than in those with ever-reported hand eczema (23.3%) and never eczema (26.9%). S. aureus nasal colonization was associated with an approximately two-fold increased risk of persistent hand eczema (odds ratios ranges in different models: 2.86-3.06) without significant heterogeneity in the association by demographic factors. No significant associations between S. aureus nasal colonization and persistent eczema of other body sites or ever-reported eczema of multiple body sites (including hands) were observed. Furthermore, similar significant association between nasal colonization of MSSA and persistent hand eczema was seen; the association was much stronger (odds ratios ranges in different models: 4.64-6.54) for MRSA, although with borderline significant., Conclusions: Nasal colonization of S. aureu s was associated with increased risk of persistent hand eczema. - Abstract
Introduction: Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic inflammatory skin disease and skin microbiota dysbiosis shows an important role in the pathogenesis of AD. Effects of treatment on skin microbiota for patients with AD have been evaluated in recent years; however, the results remained controversial across studies. This systematic review will summarise studies evaluating the effect of treatments on skin microbiota among patients with AD., Methods and Analysis: We will search PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science, ClinicalTrials.gov and Chinese Clinical Trial Registry in November 2021; other data sources will also be considered, including searching specific authors and screening references cited in the enrolled articles. Interventional studies, which enrolled patients with AD receiving treatments and reported treatment-related skin microbiota changes, will be included. Our primary outcomes include skin microbiota diversity and treatment-related differential microbes; the secondary outcomes include microbiota functions and microbial interactions. Risk of bias assessment will be performed using Cochrane risk-of-bias tool for randomised trials, risk of bias in non-randomised studies of interventions and methodological index for non-randomised studies. Two researchers will independently perform study selection, data extraction and risk of bias assessment, with disagreements resolved by group discussions. 19. Association between Human Genetic Variants and the Vaginal Bacteriome of Pregnant Women.

- Abstract
The influence of human genetic variants on the vaginal bacterial traits (VBTs) of pregnant women is still unknown. Using a genome-wide association approach based on the 16S rRNA bacteriome analysis, a total of 72 host genetic variant (single nucleotide polymorphisms [SNPs], indels, or copy number variations [CNVs])-VBT associations were found that reached the genome-wide significance level ( P < 5 × 10
-8 ) with an acceptable genomic inflation factor λ of <1.1. The majority of these SNPs that reached the genome-wide significance level had a relatively low minor allele frequency (MAF), and only seven of them had MAFs greater than 0.05. rs303212, located at the IFIT1 gene on chromosome 10, was the most eye-catching variant, which had a genome-wide association with the relative abundance (RAB) of Actinobacteria and Bifidobacteriaceae and also had a suggestive association with the RAB of a few common vaginal bacteria including Actinobacteriota , Firmicutes , Lactobacillus , and Gardnerella vaginalis and the beta diversity weighted UniFrac ( P < 1 × 10-5 ). The findings of the study suggest that the vaginal bacteriome may be influenced by a number of genetic variants across the human genome and that interferon signaling may have an important influence on vaginal bacterial communities during pregnancy. IMPORTANCE Knowledge about the influence of host genetics on the vaginal bacteriome in pregnancy is still limited. Although a number of environmental and behavioral factors may exert influences on the structure of vaginal bacterial communities, the vaginal bacteriome often undergoes a relatively fixed transition to a more stable and less diverse state as the menstrual cycle stops, which raises questions on the effects of human genetics. We utilized a genome-wide approach to identify the associations between genetic variants and multiple VBTs and performed enrichment analyses. The human genetics during pregnancy may be involved in multiple pathways. The results may disclose innate functional factors involved in shaping the vaginal bacteriome during pregnancy and provide insight into the establishment of specific strategies for prevention and clinical treatment of pregnancy complications.- Published

- Abstract
Aim: To examine the effect of Weichang'an (WCA) and 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) on colorectal tumor and hepatic metastasis in a mouse model., Methods: Quantitative determination of hesperidin, the effective component in WCA decoction, was performed using HPLC. In vitro cytotoxicity of WCA was determined by treating HCT-116 cells with WCA diluents or serum extracted from rats that received WCA by oral gavage for 1 wk and MTT assays. Forty-eight nude mice received cecum implantation with tumor blocks subcutaneously amplified from human colon cancer cell line HCT-116. Mice were randomly divided into four treatment groups: control (CON), WCA, 5-FU and combination (WCA+5-FU). Pathological examination of tumors consisted of tissue sectioning and hematoxylin and eosin staining. Tumor weight and size were measured, and the number of metastatic lesions was counted. Serum carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) level was determined by ELISA. The expression levels of tumor genesis and metastasis-related proteins β-catenin and matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-7 were measured by real-time quantitative reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR), immunohistochemistry and immunoblotting. Cell fractionation was used to investigate intracellular distribution of β-catenin., Results: Parenchymal tumors were palpable in the abdomens of nude mice 2 wk post-implantation and orthotopic tumor formation rate was 100% in all groups. 5-FU treatment alone significantly decreased tumor weight compared to the CON group (1.203±0.284 g vs 1.804±0.649 g, P<0.01). WCA treatment alone reduced the rate of metastasis (50% vs 100%, P<0.05). Combination treatment of WCA+5-FU was the most effective, reducing the tumor weight (1.140±0.464 g vs 1.804±0.649 g, P<0.01) and size (1493.438±740.906 mm3 vs 2180.259±816.556 mm3, P<0.05), the rate of metastases (40% vs 100%, P<0.01), and serum CEA levels (31.263±7.421 μg/L vs 43.040±11.273 μg/L, P<0.05). Expression of β-catenin and MMP-7 was decreased in drug-treated groups compared to controls, as detected using real-time quantitative RT-PCR, immunohistochemistry and immunoblotting, respectively. Cell fractionation assays revealed that nuclear translocation of β-catenin was reduced by WCA and/or 5-FU treatments., Conclusion: Combination of WCA with 5-FU significantly inhibited colon tumor growth and hepatic metastases. Decreased expression of β-catenin and MMP-7 may be important.

- Abstract
It is unclear whether a mother who is negative for hepatitis B virus surface antigen (HBsAg) but positive for hepatitis B virus (HBV) is at potential risk for mother-to-child transmission of HBV. This study, using a paired mother-teenager population, aimed to assess whether maternal HBsAg-negative HBV infection ((hn)HBI) is a significant source of child HBV infection (HBI). A follow-up study with blood collection has been conducted on the 93 mother-teenager pairs from the initial 135 pregnant woman-newborn pairs 13 years after neonatal HBV vaccination. Serological and viral markers of HBV have been tested, and phylogenetic analysis of HBV isolates has been done. The HBI prevalence was 1.9% (1 (hn)HBI/53) for teenage children of non-HBI mothers, compared with 16.7% (1 (hn)HBI/6) for those of (hn)HBI mothers and 2.9% (1 HBsAg-positive HBV infection [(hp)HBI]/34) for those of (hp)HBI mothers. Similar viral sequences have been found in one pair of whom both the mother and teenager have had (hn)HBI. In comparison with the (hp)HBI cases, those with (hn)HBI had a lower level of HBV load and a higher proportion of genotype-C strains, which were accompanied by differentiated mutations (Q129R, K141E, and Y161N) of the "a" determinant of the HBV surface gene. Our findings suggest that mother-to-teenager transmission of (hn)HBI can occur among those in the neonatal HBV vaccination program.

22. Biochemical characteristics of neonatal cholestasis induced by citrin deficiency.

- Abstract
Aim: To explore differences in biochemical indices between neonatal intrahepatic cholestasis caused by citrin deficiency (NICCD) and that with other etiologies., Methods: Patients under 6 mo of age who were referred for investigation of conjugated hyperbilirubinaemia from June 2003 to December 2010 were eligible for this study. After excluding diseases affecting the extrahepatic biliary system, all patients were screened for the two most common SLC25A13 mutations; the coding exons of the entire SLC25A13 gene was sequenced and Western blotting of citrin protein performed in selected cases. Patients in whom homozygous or compound heterozygous SLC25A13 mutation and/or absence of normal citrin protein was detected were defined as having NICCD. Cases in which no specific etiological factor could be ascertained after a comprehensive conjugated hyperbilirubinaemia work-up were defined as idiopathic neonatal cholestasis (INC). Thirty-two NICCD patients, 250 INC patients, and 39 infants with cholangiography-confirmed biliary atresia (BA) were enrolled. Laboratory values at their first visit were abstracted from medical files and compared., Results: Compared with BA and INC patients, the NICCD patients had significantly higher levels of total bile acid (TBA) [all measures are expressed as median (inter-quartile range): 178.0 (111.2-236.4) μmol/L in NICCD vs 112.0 (84.9-153.9) μmol/L in BA and 103.0 (70.9-135.3) μmol/L in INC, P = 0.0001]. The NICCD patients had significantly lower direct bilirubin [D-Bil 59.6 (43.1-90.9) μmol/L in NICCD vs 134.0 (115.9-151.2) μmol/L in BA and 87.3 (63.0-123.6) μmol/L in INC, P = 0.0001]; alanine aminotransferase [ALT 34.0 (23.0-55.0) U/L in NICCD vs 108.0 (62.0-199.0) U/L in BA and 84.5 (46.0-166.0) U/L in INC, P = 0.0001]; aspartate aminotransferase [AST 74.0 (53.5-150.0) U/L in NICCD vs 153.0 (115.0-239.0) U/L in BA and 130.5 (81.0-223.0) U/L in INC, P = 0.0006]; albumin [34.9 (30.7-38.2) g/L in NICCD vs 38.4 (36.3-42.2) g/L in BA and 39.9 (37.0-42.3) g/L in INC, P = 0.0001]; glucose [3.2 (2.0-4.4) mmol/L in NICCD vs 4.1 (3.4-5.1) mmol/L in BA and 4.0 (3.4-4.6) mmol/L in INC, P = 0.0014] and total cholesterol [TCH 3.33 (2.97-4.00) mmol/L in NICCD vs 4.57 (3.81-5.26) mmol/L in BA and 4.00 (3.24-4.74) mmol/L in INC, P = 0.0155] levels. The D-Bil to total bilirubin (T-Bil) ratio was significantly lower in NICCD patients [all measures are expressed as median (inter-quartile range): 0.54 (0.40-0.74)] than that in BA patients [0.77 (0.72-0.81), P = 0.001] and that in INC patients [0.74 (0.59-0.80), P = 0.0045]. A much higher AST/ALT ratio was found in NICCD patients [2.46 (1.95-3.63)] compared to BA patients [1.38 (0.94-1.97), P = 0.0001] and INC patients [1.48 (1.10-2.26), P = 0.0001]. NICCD patients had significantly higher TBA/D-Bil ratio [3.36 (1.98-4.43) vs 0.85 (0.72-1.09) in BA patients and 1.04 (0.92-1.14) in INC patients, P = 0.0001], and TBA/TCH ratio [60.7 (32.4-70.9) vs 24.7 (19.8-30.2) in BA patients and 24.2 (21.4-26.9) in INC patients, P = 0.0001] compared to the BA and INC groups., Conclusion: NICCD has significantly different biochemical indices from BA or INC. TBA excretion in NICCD appeared to be more severely disturbed than that of bilirubin and cholesterol.

Hepatitis E has been hypothesized as a zoonosis. However, there is no definite conclusion about which animal species contribute to hepatitis E virus (HEV) infection in humans. In this study, HEV RNA was detected only in swine bile specimens and not in bile specimens collected from cattle, goats, or dogs. We postulate that swine are the main animal reservoir for HEV.

- Abstract
Objective: To evaluate two commercial anti-hepatitis E virus (HEV) IgM kits used for differential diagnosis of acute enteric viral hepatitis., Methods: The kit for IgM capture assay, was produced with a recombinant HEV structural protein protecting primates against experimental infection by different HEV genotypes, while the other kit for indirect ELISA was produced with recombinant structural proteins from different HEV genotypes. The serum specimens were taken from 241 cases with a confirmed or presumptive diagnosis of hepatitis A and 74 cases with a confirmed or presumptive diagnosis of hepatitis E., Results: The sensitivity and specificity of the IgM capture assay kit were 97% and 100%, respectively, and the corresponding values for the other kit were 70% and 78%, respectively., Conclusion: The IgM capture assay kit has higher sensitivity and specificity in diagnosing acute enteric viral hepatitis E.
