Listeria monocytogenes (Lm) is a ubiquitous bacterium that causes listeriosis, a serious foodborne illness. In the nature-to-human transmission route, Lm can prosper in various ecological niches. Soil and decaying organic matter are its primary reservoirs. Certain clonal complexes (CCs) are over-represented in food production and represent a challenge to food safety. To gain new understanding of Lm adaptation mechanisms in food, the genetic background of strains found in animals and environment should be investigated in comparison to that of food strains. Twenty-one partners, including food, environment, veterinary and public health laboratories, constructed a dataset of 1484 genomes originating from Lm strains collected in 19 European countries. This dataset encompasses a large number of CCs occurring worldwide, covers many diverse habitats and is balanced between ecological compartments and geographic regions. The dataset presented here will contribute to improve our understanding of Lm ecology and should aid in the surveillance of Lm. This dataset provides a basis for the discovery of the genetic traits underlying Lm adaptation to different ecological niches.

At the Center for Socio-Political Data of Sciences Po, DDI-documented data is published on several repositories. The publication workflow is not user-friendly for the data managers, as it has several entry points and duplicated processes. Additionally, there is an important risk of having platform-dependent versions. In order to preserve the system’s consistency and integrity, a Single Source of Truth (SSOT) is needed. To solve this problem, we designed a new infrastructure and workflow, coherent and interoperable by design, and compliant with both DDI and the FAIR principles. We focused on a flexible, upgradable infrastructure. After a thorough review of available solutions, we opted for a Dataverse repository as our SSOT. We are currently in the process of building a tailor-made data ecosystem, through the use of APIs querying our single repository. This presentation will focus on the processes and technologies used to set up this viable DDI-compliant platform and on the reasons for choosing this solution.

International audience; The paper provides an overview of recent research and publications on the integration of research data in Current Research Information Systems (CRIS) and addresses three related issues, i.e. the object of evaluation, identifier schemes and conservation. Our focus is on social sciences and humanities. As research data gradually become a crucial topic of scientific communication and evaluation, current research information systems must be able to consider and manage the great variety and granularity levels of data as sources and results of scientific research. More empirical and moreover conceptual work is needed to increase our understanding of the reality of research data and the way they can and should be used for the needs and objectives of research evaluation. The paper contributes to the debate on the evaluation of research data, especially in the environment of open science and open data, and will be helpful in implementing CRIS and research data policies.; La communication propose une synthèse des recherches et publications récentes sur l'intégration des données de recherche dans les systèmes d'information recherche (CRIS) et aborde trois questions connexes, à savoir l'objet de l'évaluation, les identifiants et la conservation. Nous mettons l'accent sur les sciences sociales et humaines. Les données de recherche devenant progressivement un sujet crucial de la communication et de l'évaluation scientifiques, les systèmes d'information recherche doivent être en mesure de prendre en compte et de gérer la grande variété et la granularité des données comme sources et résultats de la recherche scientifique. D'autres travaux empiriques et conceptuels sont nécessaires pour mieux comprendre la réalité des données de recherche et la façon dont elles peuvent et devraient être utilisées pour les besoins et les objectifs de l'évaluation de la recherche. La communication contribue au débat sur l'évaluation des données de recherche, en particulier dans le contexte de l'open science et des données ouvertes, et sera utile pour la mise en œuvre des politiques CRIS et des données de recherche.

Purpose : LUMINOUS™ (NCT01318941; initiated March 2011) is the largest, prospective, observational, global study in the field of medical retina. LUMINOUS™ is an ongoing 5-year study that is designed to evaluate the long-term safety, effectiveness, treatment patterns, and health-related quality of life associated with ranibizumab (RBZ) 0.5 mg treatment across all approved indications in 30,000 patients from routine clinical practice. We present the 1-year data from the French patients included in LUMINOUS™. Methods : Overall, 17, 545 adult patients with neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD) were enrolled before March 2014; of these 9125 adult nAMD patients with a potential for 1-year follow-up were enrolled before March 2013. We analyzed the baseline characteristics of nAMD patients that were enrolled in France before March 2014 and the 1-year data from the French cohort. Results : Baseline characteristics of the French and the global nAMD cohorts are shown in Table 1. Both the French and the global cohorts had similar mean baseline visual acuity (VA; Early Treatment Diabetic Retinopathy Study [ETDRS] letter score; French/global nAMD cohorts: VA, 58.6/54.3). A higher proportion of patients in the French cohort had pigment epithelium detachment (PED) than those in the global cohort (68.0% versus 42.4%). In the global cohort, the 1-year data showed that on average treatment-naïve patients gained VA from baseline whilst those previously treated with RBZ either gained or maintained VA, with a relatively low number of injections and visits (Table 2). The 1-year data for the French cohort are expected in February 2016. Conclusions : The French nAMD patients enrolled in the LUMINOUS™ study were slightly older and had similar baseline VA, a higher proportion had PED, and a similar proportion had non-ocular comorbidities at baseline compared with the global nAMD cohort. The 1-year follow-up data from the French cohort will provide an invaluable source of information from a diverse group of patients currently underrepresented in randomized clinical trials.

International audience; Advances in ecology face the complexity of ecosystems with dynamics longer than a single scientist’s career. In forestry and REDD+ practice, in particular, our ability to understand forest ecosystem dynamics and to manage them for mitigation and adaptation strongly relies on the combination of long-term research efforts and on data sharing. However, data collected by many measurement campaigns are regularly lost because of a lack of capacity to archive and maintain such information. Much progress would be achieved by encouraging researchers to provide access to primary data or publish “data-papers”

During the last decade, large data sets have been increasingly used to address key questions in the field of forest science, including: (1) the impact of climate change on productivity and species distribution; (2) the long-term course of carbon, water, and nutrient cycles; (3) the spread and virulence of pathogens; (4) the genetic basis of local adaptation; and (5) sustainable socio-economic strategies (Rehfeldt et al. 2001, 2002; Diaz-Balteiro and Romero 2008; Cappa et al. 2012; Benito-Garzon et al. 2013; Porth et al. 2013; Stephenson et al. 2014). Sound data are difficult to produce in forest science because trees are long lived, are elements of complex ecosystems, and are not easily amenable to simple experiments. Yet, foresters have observed, monitored, and measured trees and forest ecosystems for a very long time, producing impressive data sets. International provenance tests are carefully monitored since the early twentieth centrury (Rehfeldt et al. 2001, 2002); they compare in common gardens trees from seeds collected in different localities (provenances) in order to record the genetic diversity of traits of importance for forestry and adaptation. Similarly, long-term records are now available for the carbon budget, water use, and nutrient cycling of a large number of forest ecosystems in temperate, boreal, as well as tropical forests (Luyssaert et al. 2007). However, like in other fields of research, the fate of these data remains, in many cases, uncertain, which has certainly detrimental effects for the advancement of forest science and for the improvement of forest ecosystem management. In the best of cases, they were published (usually not in the form of raw data) along with companion articles discussing the results. In most cases, they are stored under heterogeneous formats in the personal files of researchers and risk disappearing when these researchers change interests or retire. Recent European and international projects have taken this concern very seriously and have initiated the construction of large metadata and databases (e.g., TreeBreedex and Evoltree for genetic data, European Fluxes Database Cluster like ICOS, CarboExtreme, GHG-Europe, InGOS, for long-term ecological monitoring). International networks that monitor functional and morphological changes in forests are pushing in this direction. Institutes and research departments simultaneously consolidate available data into standardized and interconnected databases. Such a wealth of data requires very specific database management and data sharing procedures (Michener and Jones 2012). In addition to producing increasingly large data sets from monitoring and automated machine collections, forest science also relies on a large number of short-term experiments whose main results are published in scientific journals, usually without providing the corresponding data that are sometimes lost after publication. There is a general feeling that such data are often under-analyzed by their authors and that they should be made available for re-use through synthesis and analysis to generate novel ideas and test theories at unprecedented scales.
