Abstract

Johdannon mukaan sähköteknillinen toimiala sai alkunsa keväällä 1943 maahamme saatujen ilmapuolustuksemme suorituskykyä lisäävien tutkakalustojen myötä. Kirjoittajien mukaan sähkötekniikasta ei ole tullut omaa aselajiaan, koska siitä on muodostunut kaikkia puolustushaaroja ja aselajeja palveleva monipuolinen työväline. Artikkelin on katsaus sähköteknilliseen toimialaan. "Taustana on tutkatekniikka, joka kuitenkin oheislaitteiden kehittymisen ja elektroniikan uusien aluevaltausten myötä on laajentunut teknillisesti erittäin monipuoliseksi kokonaisuudeksi." Katsauksessa käsitellään sähköteknillisen alan historiaa Suomessa, nykyisiä toiminnan muotoja sekä arvioita tulevan teknologian kehityksen asettamista vaateista. Johdannon mukaan historiikki on laitesidonnaista. Perustana on suhteellisen hyvä arkisto- ja tietomateriaali. Sähköteknillisen toiminnan nykytilan kuvaus rajoittuu osin turvallisuusnäkökohtien johdosta yleisesitykseen, menemättä kalustojärjestelmien tai laitteiden yksityiskohtaiseen selostamiseen. Organisaation esittelyn tavoitteena "on antaa lukijalle kuva sähköteknillisestä toimialasta puolustushaarojen ja aselajien kehittyvänä elektroniikka-alan palvelujen toimittajana." Seuraavan noin kymmenvuotiskauden kehitysnäkymille on artikkelissa asetettu merkittävä painoarvo.

Abstract

About 500,000 people suffer from diabetes in Finland, a number which is predicted to increase within the next decades. At the moment, diabetes can neither be prevented nor cured. Diabetes is associated with microvascular (kidney, eye and peripheral nerves) and macrovascular complications (coronary heart disease, stroke). These complications affect the quality of life of patients and account for a substantial proportion of healthcare costs in Finland. The.current guidelines offer recommendations for the diagnosis, screening, prevention and treatment of diabetes and its complications.

Abstract

MODY (Maturity-Onset Diabetes of the Young) is a group of monogenic disorders characterized by autosomally dominantly inherited diabetes or hyperglycemia typically detected during adolescence or young adulthood. Usually there is at least one person in the family having developed the disease at the age of under 25 years, and the patients are diagnosed with insufficient insulin response to glucose, occasionally also with developmental disturbances of various organs. The most common form is GCK-MODY caused by glucokinase mutations, primarily manifested as elevated fasting glucose levels, usually without the risk of complicating diseases.

Abstract

Heterozygous mutations in the TCF2 gene encoding the transcription factor HNF-11 cause a dominantly inherited developmental disorder that may be associated with various dysplastic and cystic lesions of the kidneys and renal insufficiency, disorder of pancreatic development and insulin-deficient MODY diabetes, aberrant hepatic enzyme levels, gout and genital anomalies. Symptoms and findings vary in their degree of severity. When an isolated abnormality is detected, recognition of the syndrome is essential in order to diagnose the other organ manifestations. Since the mid-2000's, 10 to 20 patients have been diagnosed in Finland.
