International audience; Access to primary data, particularly in archaeology and archaeosciences, remains limited. However, this question is a major issue in scientific research. The Laboratoire méditerranéen de préhistoire Europe-Afrique (LaMPEA-UMR 7269), within the network of archaeology laboratories in the Aix Marseille University area, is developing a collaborative and interdisciplinary digital platform ArcaDIIS (Archaeological Data Infrastructure for Interoperability and Sharing), for the interoperability and sharing of archaeology data and related disciplines, particularly in the fields of the environment, archaeometry, life sciences and health. Adopting semantic web technologies, international interoperability standards and specialized disciplinary vocabularies, this platform aims to meet the needs of qualitative resource management. It proposes the editorialization and enhancement of data sets, with a view to sustainability, accessibility and reuse. It also plans to host documentation and modelling resources in specific formats and evaluated publications, whether related to the data sets on ArcaDIIS or produced independently throughout the life cycle of a research project/program.Translated with www.

HEALTH equity ,EQUALITY - Abstract
Much is known about health inequalities in society. Here, we focus on their environmental dimension, that is, the diverse and unequal ways in which the environment impacts individuals and populations, their health in particular. This enquiry changes our conception of social issues, by shifting attention from the job issue alone to the more complex one of the living environment. We explain that neither the environment nor health can be seen merely in terms of objective data. It is not so much a question of how well we know our world and our bodies, but how we experience them. In the first part of this paper we provide an overview of the general issue of environmental inequalities before addressing their relation to health. Lastly, we examine the quantitative approaches and their limitations. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

INTERDISCIPLINARY research , *ONTOLOGY , *ORGANIZATION - Abstract
This article is a positional paper and an ontological contribution to the modelling of socio-ecosystems (SES). It is also an epistemic position that is anchored on the object-oriented approach. We thus propose a model of knowledge organisation that allows more complexity to be integrated into the multidisciplinary deconstruction and analysis of SES. This object-oriented ontological proposal is based on six concepts of high abstraction level allowing a transdisciplinary portability around the structures, functions, connections, phases, scales and adaptations of SES. After defining our position on object-oriented spatiotemporal modelling, we present the six concepts and explain the interest of a top level, object-oriented, ontology for SES to conclude on the perspectives of knowledge organisation that extends our proposal. 28.

Estano, Nicolas
- Abstract
Objectives This article deals about an aspect not taken into consideration often when considering violent sexual offenses. The term “crime scene”, which got widespread into common language, depicts all the elements collected at the place where a crime occurred and which could later become pieces of evidence. However, the place by itself, the link between the offender and the place, the influence of the urban environment and the cultural aspect of it do not receive that much attention in the literature. This paper originates from a comparison of the work of two psychologists specialized within the field of geoprofiling, D. Canter and K. Rossmo, the latter being a Canadian citizen and the former an Englishman. If their postulates were similar, their findings however diverged. If primary caretakers and early interactions are not to be underestimated regarding their roles into the personality development, we will in these pages consider the urban environment by itself in serial sexual offenses. Methods Due to a restricted access to this type of patients, we mainly focused our hypothesis on a literature review and a few patients of ours, met during previous research works. Concepts used in this paper overlap various fields such as psychodynamic, criminology, criminalistics, psycho-sociology and even urbanism. We focused in this paper onto the importance of the culture and the urban concrete environment as probable variables explaining these discrepancies observed into the behavioral patterns and distances covered by Serial Sex Offenders between the two shores of the Atlantic. The underlying question being how their space conception, their “mental maps”, depends of the culture they were bred in and how it could have an incident onto their offense zones? Results The findings highlight an inherently cultural variation of the spatial conception, but also how the space is built up and integrated between the USA (and all the large and historically “recents” territories) and Europe. American sexual serial offenders are more likely to cover larger distances, almost twice as much than their European counterparts. It seems that our hypothesis is relevant; a cultural distinction may exist on the way spatial environment is perceived and could thus have incidences into the offense patterns. Conclusions With the development of the E.U., our spatial conceptions as European citizens evolve. Thanks to mass transportation, and the Erasmus programs, it is not uncommon for an Italian individual to study in Scotland or Finland for instance. This is of some importance into how the spatial mobility is becoming more thinkable, and somehow how it induces a shrinkage of the distance into the mental mapping process. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

For approximately fifty years, McGill University’s Minimum Cost Housing Group (MCHG) has undertaken research on the “human settlement problems of the poor.” This paper focuses on the group’s activities from 1970 to1976, and more specifically the “ECOL Operation” initiated by the group’s first director, Colombian architect and UN consultant Alvaro Ortega. The story of the ECOL Operation gives insight into some unanticipated feedback loops associated with the foreign-aid-funded knowledge economy. The ECOL Operation was pitched as a technical and material research program to develop self-help housing solutions for the “Third World.” In practice, it was an improvised mix of international development aspiration, Appropriate Technology enthusiasm, industrial research and development, and ecological design rhetoric. The paper argues that the MCHG’s efforts became most compelling as a blueprint for a set of designers and activists rethinking the consumerist lifestyles and material flows of the Global North. This highlights a more complex background to the counterculturally-inflected ventures of 1970s ecological design. The scene was more closely connected to the Cold War complex of intergovernmental organizations, development agendas, and industrial capitalism than its participants may have imagined. “Ecocamping, comer bien, beber vino.”

This paper reviews the ways in which urban and environmental issues have been jointly analysed in the Revue des sciences sociales over the past fifty years, based on the case of the city of Strasbourg, which is the focus of numerous contributions to the Revue. After an overview of the articles from a chronological and spatial perspective, the paper insists on the dynamics by which the urban environment has become a topic of interest in Strasbourg and focuses on two revealing dimensions: urban mobility—through the example of the streetcar—and nature in the city—viewed in relation to the historical model of garden cities. It concludes by highlighting the weight of social structures behind the contemporary claims about sustainable development.

International audience; This paper presents the articles of the special issue on Latin America and places the papers in the broader context of Latin America in the 21st Century. It suggests to interpret Latin American reality from three contradictions connected to the development model, the political conflicts and the international insertion of the Region.

International audience; The paper summarizes the premises of an emerging model of leadership. This model bears on all domains of leadership but not to the same extent. The political, economic and technoscientific initiatives regarding the environment are particularly concerned. The main purpose of the paper is to help understand, anticipate and possibly accelerate changes in the area of leadership. The model draws on extensive empirical research on social movements, uncertainty and complexity in postindustrial societies, risk perception and the role of the environment in perceiving risks. As it is impossible to include all links to these works in a single article, I limit my focus here on presenting a representative sample of the basic primary and secondary empirical references.; L’objectif de cet article est de décrire très brièvement les prémisses d’un modèle émergeant de leadership portant sur tous les domaines d’activité, mais dans des mesures différentes.

While medieval watermills have been studied for the last century, historians didn't focus their attention on the watermills of Montpellier. This paper is meant to be an introduction to the subject and follows the trend of global history. First, I establish a quantitative, technical, juridicial and economical overview of watermills of Montpellier in the XIIIth-XVth centuries. I count and locate watermills on the Lez river, showing their economic value and who their landlors and tenants are. Then, I focus on the social and religious aspects of waterways by displaying the city response to climate risks. Climate impacts the flow rate and the water level of waterways, resulting in environmental and material damages as well as animal and human loses. This paper analyses how rogation processions help the community handle droughts and floods, but also the way sea consuls manage the latter. Finally, I state how climate, and its effects on waterways, contributes to the birth of new rituals such as the 1313 Flagellants procession – a new and very rare phenomenon in Montpellier – or the 1392 and 1412 immersion ritual of the Virgin relic in the Lez river.; Bien que les moulins hydrauliques médiévaux aient fait l'objet de nombreuses recherches scientifiques et historiques, ceux de Montpellier n'avaient jusqu'à présent pas suscité d'études spécifiques.

This paper shows that environmental risks can be understood as forms of heritages. Indeed, both material and intangible heritage cultures are linked to risks which are territorial components. We study how it can be possible to conceive risks as heritage. The paper demonstrates that the geohistorical ambivalence of risks (positively or negatively perceived) goes hand in hand with their potential heritage. It is then interested in two concepts the memory of risk and the culture of risk which can be questioned under the heritage lens. Finally, patrimonializing the risks allows to aim for a better "living with" the risk, which will be discussed in the light of two case studies in France and Italy.
