Critical remarks on Geo Maher's Anticolonial Eruptions (2022)

Yeni keşfedilen Amerika kıtasında ticari çıkarlar ve emperyal rekabetlerle başlayan köleliğin tarihi, 20. yüzyılda Amerikan toplumu içinde ayrımcılık sistemi halini almış, post kolonyal dünya düzeninde ırkçı politikalarla varlığını hissettirmeye devam etmiştir. Oryantalizmin yaydığı Doğu imajı çerçevesinde oluşturulan düşüncelerde olduğu gibi Batılı beyaz araştırmacılar 1950’li yıllara kadar köleleştirilmiş siyahilerin tarihini siyasi ve anayasal sınırlar çerçevesinde kendi perspektiflerinden yazmışlardır. Buna rağmen, yaşamsal mücadele ve toplumsal travmalarla geçen Afroamerikan tarihi, Afrikalıların 16. ve 17. yüzyıllarda Kuzey Amerika'ya gelişiyle başlamış, 1955 ve 1968 yılları arasında yoğunlaşan sivil haklar hareketi ile birlikte siyahiler tarafından yeniden yazılmaya başlamıştır. Köleliğin Başkan Abraham Lincoln tarafından kaldırıldığı 1862 yılından itibaren devam eden dönemde, Jim Crow yasaları ve de jure ayrımcılığa karşı tepkiler verilse de 1950’li yılların ortalarında liderlerin öncülüğünde bilinçlenme hareketi kapsayıcı bir şekilde siyahi kitleleri harekete geçirmiştir. Büyük ölçüde ırkçı Güney eyaletlerinde derinleşen, ayrımcılık yasalarını bozmak ve Afroamerikalılar için oy ve temel kamusal haklarını geri getirmek hedefinde ülke genelinde şiddet içermeyen protestolar her geçen gün daha da büyük bir ivme kazanmıştır. Bu çalışmanın temel amacı, ABD tarihinde ırkçılığın tarihsel sürecinde en önemli konu olmayı sürdüren siyahi ayrımcılığını ve direniş hareketini ana hatlarıyla değerlendirmektir. Özellikle 1955 yılında başlayan Sivil Haklar Hareketi’nin 13 yılına odaklanarak temel özellikleri, liderleri, kitleleri harekete geçirmede kullanılan temel araçları, önemli dönüm noktaları ve bunların ulusal ve küresel boyuttaki yansıma ile etkileri analiz edilecektir.

The integration of renewable energy solutions in educational settings can change traditional teaching methods and enhance learning outcomes. This paper examines the creative usage of renewable energy technologies aimed at creating sustainable environments that are conducive to learning and facilitate English language acquisition in classrooms. By looking into case studies and empirical data, this study shows how renewable energy sources like solar energy or wind power may be utilized as a support for digital learning tools such as interactive language software and as a reliable power source for rural and disadvantaged schools. The study found significant increases in student engagement, language skills, overall student performance, stressing the role of sustainable power supply in modern education systems.

As electric vehicles (EVs) become increasingly prevalent, the demand for efficient and high-performance DC–DC converters in the charging infrastructure is paramount. Electric vehicles, powered by rechargeable batteries or fuel cells, hence is necessary to have a cost-effective and efficient battery charger to deliver the consistent output current needed for the designated EV's battery. This paper adds a new and more effective approach of design and control of a DC–DC converter with bidirectional capability appropriate for incorporation in EV charging systems aimed at enhancing the current density and control issues inherent in the charging /discharging process. It appears to provide the necessary high current density besides battery out as soon as possible and also to impose an unimportant overshooting of the charging time for demanded lithium-ion battery system while charging it. The converter circuit contains the following equipment in its construction include single phase AC voltage source, linear transformer, passive component that includes the inductor and capacitor and bridge rectifier. Usually, Simulink/MATLAB is used for the purpose of various simulations. Using the MATLAB simulation the design of the concept system offered in this proposal has been proved. Monitored the current in amperes that the battery charger is supplying to the battery, closely observed the condition and voltage of the battery.

People are constantly busy with their professions, businesses, and other endeavours in the world in which we currently live. The majority of them find that watching movies is the greatest way to unwind during the limited free time they have between jobs. However, with so many movies available in different languages, choosing which one to watch may be a time-consuming task. The recommendation may be collaborative filtering or content-based. As the name implies, collaborative filtering bases its filtering method on the interactions between relevant user behaviour and that of other users. In order to correlate movies with recommendations, this study describes cosine similarity. To receive the top 5 recommendations, the user must enter the name of a movie they have previously enjoyed. We've also introduced a feature that allows the user to optionally provide the year data that they want the engine to use to propose movies that were published after that specific year. For example, if the user wants to filter recommendations for new movies, they can provide a recent year.

Existing EV chargers use a strong non - linear diode bridge rectifier to deliver Direct Current voltage at the DC-DC converter's input, which degrades input AC current power factor. Due to these issues, typical battery chargers must eliminate the input bridge to improve power factor. This research paper main aim to improve the front end power factor by using bridge less landsman converter. It is combination of PFC converter and isolated fly back converter to operate between constant current and constant voltage modes. The modified PFC should achieve the constant DC-link voltage and improve the power factor up to unity. It also provide the improve in power quality, low device stress, low input and output ripples, and low input current harmonics when compared with bridge converter.

High voltage electrical vehicle battery models are acquiring plenty of attention in both industry and the scholarly field for their capacity to decrease charging time and increase battery life. Existing EV chargers use a strong non - linear diode bridge rectifier to deliver Direct Current voltage at the DC-DC converter’s input, which degrades input AC current power quality. Due to these issues, typical battery chargers must eliminate the input bridge to improve power quality (PQ). This research uses an upgraded PQ-based bridgeless (BL) Luo converter. Two Luo converters use this PFC converter’s input inductor throughout their half cycles. A PFC converter without an input diode bridge may offer a cost less, power-density increased EV charging solution with few switches. Synchronizing the charger’s input current with source voltage increases input power factor. Luo converters provide the largest voltage transfer gain. Various segments of the project were simulated in order to understand their characteristics. The open-loop and closed-loop analysis of ULC with PI control yields graphical results that highlight the connection between the duty cycle and voltage transfer gain. The simulation graphs obtained for the dc-dc buck converter and Li-Ion SOC also provide important results for analysis.

This study is the first to empirically examine, based on interviews with injured workers and key informants, return-to-work policies and practices through the lens of language barriers. By comparing two jurisdictions, Quebec and Ontario, the study highlights similarities and differences in language accommodation and return-to-work policies and practices that shape the experiences of injured workers with language needs. It argues that gaps in this regard, which are more pronounced in Quebec, contribute to poor return-to-work outcomes for these workers in both provinces.

Ancient settlements were dependent on the availability of water for sustainable living, ritual values, and economic purposes. Today, many Tropical Asian cities provide examples of urban settlements within water landscapes, yet these cities struggle with water issues, and face challenges in creating a contextual morphological identity. This paper explores urban waterfront heritage through a case study of Chittagong, Bangladesh. The city is experiencing rapid unplanned urbanisation, insensitive land use and the demolition of historical buildings along waterways, which in turn has created a contextual crisis in the built environment and social living. To explore the relationship of built heritage with the water-edge, this paper examines historical architectural styles using urban morphological codes. Results show that the historical orientations, accessibility, and functions of heritage buildings are explicitly and sensitively connected with the water-edge. The paper argues that physical and spatial components of urban structure and water landscape, incorporating the lessons of urban history, could become a tool to preserve urban heritage. However, to enhance the image of the city in a sustainable manner along water-edges, it is crucial to use the potentiality of water landscape with the heritage-based morphologies in current urban design and development practices.

This paper presents the comparative analysis between fuzzy logic controller and neural network for DC-DC Buck converter. The major drawback in the conventional buck converter is when the input voltage or load change, the output voltage also changes which reduces the overall efficiency of the buck converter. So here we are using non linear controllers for buck converter which respond quickly for perturbations and maintains the fixed load voltage even when there are non-linearity’s occurs compared to a linear controllers like P,PI,PID controllers which can’t withstand when perturbations occur. Simplicity, low cost and adaptability to the complex systems without mathematical modeling are the best features of Fuzzy Logic controller and neural networks. The Two implementations are analyzed in detail and simulated in MATLAB/SIMULINK environment and results presented. Proposed approach is implemented on DC to DC step down converter for an input of 230V and performance characteristics like maximum overshoot, settling time and efficiency of the converter are studied.

There are increasing challenges among the elderly in the Arctic region. Global warming due to climate change is one of the major reasons for these challenges. Because of climate change temperature in the region increases, which results in rapid melting of sea ice causing various environmental, social, cultural and economic problems. Population in the region suffers from these problems where elderly people are the most vulnerable. Climate change has already affected the elderly lives in different ways, such as, by physical, social, political, cultural and psychological ways. These have serious consequences in terms of human rights of this vulnerable group of people. However, the elderly people’s human rights issues have not been adequately researched in the context of this region. The goal of this paper is to present elderly related human rights issues, particularly the rights that are affected due to climate change in this specific region.

Tourism is an important development tool and it is considered the second largest contributor to the Malaysian economy. Even though the visitors are satisfied by the prevailing facilities, a few shortcomings need to be addressed on sustainable tourism such as the lack of knowledge on sustainable tourism in different sectors, and the neglected local communities in making decisions on sustainability. The aim of this study is to realize the relationship between three factors namely economy, environmental impacts of tourism, and community satisfaction and perceptions on tourism development in Melaka, a UNESCO World Heritage site in Malaysia. In order to observe this relationship, 735 tourists were interviewed to get the tourists’ responses. Here, the concepts on sustainable tourism development include the conservation of the environment, mitigation of pollution from tourism development, and support of local economies. Additionally, sustainable tourism is aimed at generating local employment for the community. Data from the interviews have been analysed using descriptive and simple statistical tools. It is found that the variables are suitable in this study due to the high Cronbach’s Alpha values. The study found that there are positive significant influences between the three dimensions and their perceptions on sustainability and tourism development.
