The glass vessels that were previously discovered in the necropolises of Thaenae are kept in the museums of Sfax and the Bardo. This small collection of rare forms represents only a very small part of the material collected during the excavations. This contribution presents an overview of all the glassware from Thaenae, both extant and also items now lost but reported in earlier publications. The descriptive and comparative study highlights their specificities and attempts to establish their contexts of discovery through the examination of excavation reports drawn up at the beginning of the 20th century.

The ongoing renovation of the Sfax Archaeological Museum and the current research within the framework of the Thaenae field site provided an opportunity between 2020 and 2022 to re-examine the material discovered by M. Fendri in a survey he carried out in 1964 in the northern necropolis of the town. He discovered a mausoleum, several secondary cremation burials composed of stelae and urns, a cupula burial and funerary material (lamps, glass, coins). He preserved the bones in three urns and their investigation, fifty years later using the new methods of archaeothanatology, provides new data on the funerary practices carried out in this city, which was already well known for the exceptional conservation of its necropolises.

Uma das formas de a sociedade intervir nesse cenário advém dos mecanismos de participação nas instâncias de gestão e produção editorial, o que poderia fortalecê-las ao ampliar a visibilidade de sua relevância para a cidadania e o atendimento do direito à comunicação e à informação. Este artigo verificou, por meio de análise documental, se a participação pública como princípio e prática foi ou não incorporada por emissoras públicas brasileiras como compromisso organizacional. Os resultados indicam escassa aderência à participação: somente quatro entre 23 emissoras efetivam-na institucionalmente, e ainda apenas de maneira parcial.

We show that all reduced closed subschemes of projective space that have a Cohen-Macaulay graded coordinate ring are of wild Cohen-Macaulay type, except for a few cases which we completely classify.

Gathered by Clément Aubert during his activity as the director of the railway company from Bône to Guelma, encompassing 523 ceramic pieces and 50 glass and metal artefacts, the Aubert-Buès collection, stored at the museum of Gap (Hautes-Alpes, France), provides information on the material culture of the border area between Algeria and Tunisia, from Tebessa and Haidra north to Gafsa south. After giving a short background of the collection, this paper presents the first results of the inventory and the integrated archaeological and archaeometrical survey of this documentation, and its contribution to the history and economy of the inland regions of Roman Africa.

This third preliminary report on the excavations conducted in the Eastern bath by the French archaeological mission in Libya from 1994 to 2012 is dedicated to the material, in glass and in selenite stone. This documentation, considering most of the unearthed material, supplies a rare opportunity to study Roman glasses found in Tripolitania out of funeral context.They consist of tableware, lamps, game and jewelry objects and window glasses, that show the coexistence of glass and stone windows in the same building. The 3rd century glassware survey reveals rare and new forms used in the bath building. The late Antiquity material, accumulated after the building abandon, allows to note the part of Egyptian imports and that of Africa Proconsularis productions.

Several old and new works have been done on marked Roman glass. Here, we try to gather the most significant documentation about bottles and flasks, to explain Gallic productions and imports. These containers, used between the mid-1st c. AD and the 5th c. didn’t attract the nonspecialists’ attention. However, like other bigger packages, these jars, in various shapes and with marks of different sizes, enable us to locate production areas and detect the short and long-distance trade flows. The meaning of these marks can yield several different interpretations, but it seems they mainly refer to the content, or to those who benefit from it.

A presentation of unpublished artefacts from the Languedoc (Montpellier, Saint-Laurent-le-Minier), Provence (Marseille, the Saint-Symphorien priory at Bonnieux) and Damascus (the citadel) provides an opportunity for a review of glass beakers with applied droplets. This form of decoration is a common denominator of glass-ware used during the 13th and 14th centuries in a large part of the Christian and Islamic worlds. Attention is given to the distribution, variants and dates of these objects, and also to their highly-scattered regions of production. Related forms and decoration incite questions of origins, influences or stylistic connexions in addition to possible movements of craft-persons.

The cross-coupling reaction of organic electrophiles with organostannanes, traditionally known as the Stille reaction, has found renewed interest in the preparation of new organic materials such as conjugated polymers, organic semiconductors and photoactive molecules for use in organic photovoltaics. Moreover, a very recent field in which the Stille reaction has found successful application is that of the design and synthesis of new photosensitizers for dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). DSSCs are considered a promising alternative for energy production from renewable sources. In such devices light harvesting is carried out by a dye which is generally a highly conjugated molecule. Due to the mild operating conditions and the high functional-group compatibility, the Stille reaction proved to be a powerful tool not only for the preparation of photosensitizers, but also to plan their chemical elaboration in order to tune and optimize their photophysical, electrochemical and photovoltaic properties. In this microreview some recent examples of the Stille reaction in the synthesis of organic dyes for DSSC are reported.

The relationship between some of the Italian Risorgimento leaders and their interlocutors in the United States was informed by mutual interest and sympathy. However, it did not necessarily produce emulators or experiments inspired by the American system. At the same time, the US offered an excellent example of a method of government capable of overcoming political and economic obstacles as well as European criticism. Many of the Italian exiles in America, instead, were more likely to see in the host country a possible model of nation-building. Giuseppe Mazzini and Carlo Cattaneo, of course, dealt with the American experience coming, however, to different conclusions. The former, although acknowledging the success of the American experiment, criticized federalism which proved the inherent weakness of the system; the latter saw federalism as the only way to achieve a complete and veritable freedom. Neither one, however, used the United States as a model given the numerous geographic, historical and political differences between the two countries.

This article analyzes the reading of the American Civil War in Europe, how this conflict was perceived. It shows the international dimension of this war and insists on the idea that it fed the reflection on the European fights.

La Banca d'Italia ha emès recentment una normativa nova en matèria de «transparència de les operacions i dels serveis bancaris i financers » i de «correcció de les relacions entre intermediaris i clients». A més d'establir un seguit d'obligacions de caràcter administratiu i organitzatiu adreçades a la banca, la nova regulació també conté -i això representa una novetat de rellevància indubtable- prescripcions de naturalesa lingüística: imposa l'ús d'un llenguatge clar i comprensible en la documentació adreçada als clients, i també dicta una sèrie de criteris per redactar els textos. Aquest article, després d'emmarcar breument i de manera general la nova reglamentació, se centra en les normes relatives al llenguatge. Després d'exposar les indicacions de la Banca d'Italia quant a la redacció, i d'inserir-les en el context d'iniciatives anàlogues tant italianes com estrangeres (totes més o menys pertanyents a l'anomenat plain language movement), aquest estudi analitza críticament l'enfocament adoptat, evidenciant-ne els límits i els punts forts, a la llum de la recerca en matèria de lingüística aplicada, d'escriptura i de planificació lingüística. Es dedica una àmplia reflexió a examinar els obstacles que previsiblement s'interposen en l'èxit de la normativa promulgada, recognoscibles en part en els límits intrínsecs dels instruments adoptats, que amenacen de frenarne l'eficàcia en el vessant jurídic o bé en el lingüístic i comunicatiu; i, en part, en raons socials i psicològiques, és a dir, en les actituds i les percepcions respecte al llenguatge que caracteritzen la -comunitat discursiva- bancària i que la fan esdevenir poc inclinada a modificar les pròpies modalitats comunicatives institucionalitzades.

Aquest assaig es proposa oferir una descripció crítica del llenguatge utilitzat per l’Administració pública italiana i destacar-ne sobretot els defectes que fan que sigui anticomunicatiu. Després d’una introducció que fa palesa la mala reputació que tradicionalment ha tingut i té l’italià burocràtic, l’article passa a delinear les característiques generals d’aquesta varietat de llengua, que són les següents: llenguatge sectorial no especialitzat, rígid, complex, obscur, formal i que tendeix a perpetuar-se a si mateix; té poca consideració envers el lector; estilísticament és poc acurat; té una relació directa amb el llenguatge legislatiu; és poc propens al canvi diacrònic; no diferencia el públic al qual s’adreça; té tendència a ser assumit per molts ciutadans com a model, fins i tot més enllà de l’àmbit burocràtic. Posteriorment, l’estudi se centra en detalls i tracta les característiques més específiques d’aquest llenguatge i n’afronta, per aquest ordre: • els aspectes lexicals (entre els quals l’elevada freqüència d’arcaismes, termes de registre elevat, tecnicismes reals i aparents, perífrasis, eufemismes, redundàncies, fórmules estereotipades, expressions reverencials, sigles i abreviacions); • sintàctics (especialment la tendència a fer frases llargues i complexes, a les formes implícites dels verbs i a les construccions despersonalitzadores); • textuals (l’organització informativa dels textos des de la perspectiva de l’autor i no del lector, el recurs freqüent d’expressions de referències anafòriques i catafòriques, la cohesió sovint defectuosa, els títols poc informatius, l’accentuada intertextualitat); i • pragmàtics (la performativitat dels actes administratius, la relació emissor/ receptor, les estratègies de tracte correcte, el fet que molts textos administratius són inadequats en relació amb el context). A la part final es fa referència a les iniciatives dedicades a la simplificació del llenguatge administratiu engegades pel Govern italià des del 1993 fins avui, tant en l’àmbit legislatiu com en el més pròpiament lingüístic. I es fa un balanç dels resultats aconseguits i es formulen hipòtesis sobre els motius que han impedit assolir millors resultats i sobre els problemes que queden encara per solucionar.
