RÉSUMÉRéaliser des jaugeages au bon moment et faire en sorte que ces jaugeages aient la meilleure qualité possible est un facteur important d’amélioration des données hydrométriques. Nous présentons ici un certain nombre d’actions mises en œuvre au sein du service hydrométrie de la DREAL Bretagne pour progresser dans cette voie. Il s’agit notamment de pratiques et de procédures visant à limiter le risque de problème en lien avec matériel déployé sur le terrain. Des outils d’aide à la décision accessibles sur smartphone permettent aussi d’apporter des informations utiles aux équipes opérationnelles afin de cibler plus finement les jaugeages à réaliser.

INTRODUCTION: Stunting remains a huge public health concern among developing Nations. However, the burden of this problem among the school-age population appears to have been eclipsed by most nutritional surveys that focus more on the under-fives. This study aimed to demonstrate the prevalence, and identify socio-demographic factors that are associated with stunting among the school-age children in North central Nigeria. METHODS: This was a descriptive cross-sectional study that involved 450 pupils, aged 6-12 years from 10 randomly selected primary schools in Jos, Plateau state. Anthropometric indices were measured using standard techniques and the Height-for-age z-scores were generated using the WHO Anthroplus software. Socio-demographic details were obtained using semi-structured questionnaires. Data were analysed using EPI infoTM statistical software 7.1.5.2. RESULTS: The mean age of the subjects was 9.3 , 1.8 years and the male to female ratio was 1:1.1. The prevalence of stunting was 10.5%. The prevalence of stunting was significantly higher among pupils that attended public schools (p=0.0001), those whose mothers had less than secondary level of education (p=0.0427), those between the ages of 10-12 years (p=0.0001), those from the lower socio-economic class (p=0.0021), and those whose family sizes were larger than six family members (p=0.0063). CONCLUSION: The substantial burden of stunting among the school age population has significant correlation with certain socio-demographic factors. Addressing these factors by alleviating poverty, promoting maternal literacy and encouraging family planning may, perhaps, lessen the burden of stunting among the school-age group in Northern Nigeria.

El interés que ha generado el estudio de la Responsabilidad Social Empresarial (RSE) en el mundo académico durante la última década es evidente. Sin embargo, en la literatura científica, los trabajos e investigaciones sectoriales en el tema, y más aún en empresas del sector turístico, son muy escasos. Partiendo de esta realidad, el presente estudio tiene como objetivo aportar al análisis, discusión y construcción de modelos epistémico-prácticos de RSE en Turismo y, más concretamente, en el sector hotelero. Para ello, se hizo una revisión extensa de la literatura relacionada con las teorías y modelos de gestión de RSE y se aplicó el método del estudio de caso para realizar la investigación empírica propiamente dicha a una empresa de alojamiento de la ciudad de Santa Marta, Colombia. El estudio muestra como resultado un diagnóstico empresarial para la empresa hotelera. Se concluye que, en términos de prácticas de responsabilidad social, la empresa en cuestión se encuentra más cerca de la proactividad que de la reactividad legal, ya que comienza a llevar a cabo prácticas de responsabilidad social que no está obligada a realizar por ley. De igual manera, aplica un tipo de responsabilidad social táctica y, según valoraciones cualitativas y cuantitativas propias del estudio, tiene un nivel de responsabilidad social medio con sus grupos de interés. Según el contexto geográfico de actuación, la presente investigación es pionera en la materia y fue aplicada al establecimiento hotelero con mayor trayectoria histórica de la ciudad.

Intersection is a function of parsing and altering traffic movement. The safety of vehicle manoeuvres at the junction depends on the minimum speed. The purpose of this study is to identify the effectiveness of the usage of temporary speed hump (3D visual effect) to reduce vehicles speed approaching a Priority Junction. This study was conducted at three (3) different residential locations namely Taman Murni, Kampung Merdeka and Taman Bahagia Koperasi in Batu Pahat area. These intersections were chosen because it connects one housing area to another and acts as a short-pass to a destination. Based on the observational activity, there were some traffic conflicting and potential for accidents at the intersection as well. The speed data were collected using laser guns and filled into special forms including date, location, weather, start and end time of observation and also the category of vehicles passed through the intersection. A hypothesis test was conduct to analyze the vehicle speed data before and after installation of the temporary a new 3D visual effect of speed hump. Conveniently situated in Parit Raja town which is also known as the “Education Town” in Johor, Universiti Tun Hussien Onn Malaysia (UTHM) is a member of Malaysian Technical University Network (MTUN). In pursuit of turning UTHM as a Green Campus, UTHM has its own ambitious targets for sustainability. It is committed to provide sustainable, efficient, convenient, and safe travel and transport to all students, staffs and visitors. The inception of Sustainable Campus Unit (SCU) in May 2010, showed that UTHM has doubled its green efforts and initiatives to provide sustainable travel and transport in the campus when and where possible. The formation of Strategy in Operation (SIO5): Travel & Transport in the SCU has encouraged active transportation and healthy commuting options in the campus by providing a wealth of innovative green transit options including bus, bicycle, pedestrian, and car. These options indeed will improve the quality of life on campus, strengthens UTHM ties to the neighbouring community, and reduces impacts on the environment as travel and transport system plays an important role on the carbon emission and pollutant level in university. This paper is therefore, trying to discuss some issues, measures and innovative strategies employed at UTHM as an integral part to achieve success in climbing the UI GreenMetric World University Ranking ladder.

Nowadays, anger while driving on the road is a crucial issue in Malaysia. The anger of driver may lead to traffic crashes. Road accident issue is an important agenda in every country. Driver behaviour and attitude such as impatience, hasty and hot-tempered on the road has become one of the causes in road accidents. Uncontrolled anger will affect the behavior of oneself during driving and could cause an individual to display aggressive attitude. Therefore, this study is aimed to identify contributing factor in anger of drivers and evaluate the Driver Anger Scale (DAS) in Batu Pahat, Johor. In addition, this study also analyzes the relationship between driver anger and the factor of DAS. Cross sectional study method was conducted in this study by distributing 250 questionnaires to car drivers. The data collectied was analyzed by descriptive, chi-square test, correlation and regression analysis using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 20.0. The findings show that the discourtesy was reported as the most dominant factor contributing to driver anger. As a recommendation, to overcome driver anger issue, the authorities should prepare an action plan, promote and nurture public to practice good driving behaviour. Moreover, curriculum and driver training lesson should be improved to create better attitude among drivers. Drivers also should change their driving attitude by becoming safe drivers and exhibiting defensive driving skills on the road.

Pedestrians are most vulnerable of all road users. This research aims to investigate and model pedestrian road crossing behaviour at crossing facilities. In particular, they have two aspects of pedestrians crossing behaviour are examined, namely the size of traffic gaps acceptance by pedestrians and the decision of pedestrians either to cross the road or not. A fields survey was carried out at six crossing facilities which from a zebra crossing at midblock. In this survey, the data were recorded in real traffic condition using video recorder. Determine the associations between characteristics of pedestrians, crossing facilities and vehicular traffic through on-site observations of pedestrian behaviour. This data will analysis using statistical analysis which is multiple regression and binary logit regression method. It is hope that through this research, the model of pedestrian gap acceptance and pedestrian crossing decision can be reached and what are the indicators that pedestrians look for when accepting gaps to cross the road.

Since 2010, Federal Route FT050 (Jalan Batu Pahat-Kluang) has undergone many changes, including the improvement of geometric features (i.e., construction of median, dedicated U-turns and additional lanes) and upgrading the quality of the road surface. Unfortunately, even with these enhancements, accidents continue to occur along this route. This study covered both accident analysis and blackspot study. Accident point weightage was used to identify blackspot locations. The results reveal hazardous road locations and blackspot ranking along the route.

Road crossings are considered as an unavoidable part of walking in which the desirable route of pedestrians interacts with vehicles. These interactions may expose the pedestrians to risks or delays. In Malaysia, road accident statistics show that pedestrian casualties are fairly high. Inappropriate gap acceptance when pedestrians cross roads is a main contributing element to this situation. In this context, the purpose of this study was to develop realistic models for pedestrian road crossing behaviour using the regression technique for mid-block street crossing. A choice model was produced to capture the decision making process of pedestrians whereas rejected or accepted vehicular gaps was based on the discrete choice theory. Gap acceptance data under real mix traffic conditions was collected using video camera on a typical unsignalised two lane one way urban street section in the city center of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The lognormal regression model developed for the crossing behaviour model shows that traffic speed, pedestrian waiting time, gender, crossing distance, age group, frequency of attempts and pedestrian number are the significant factors which are able to predict 77.0% of variance or changes in accepted gap size at 0.05 significance level. Higher traffic speed, lower waiting time, being a male, wider crossing distance, older age group, lower frequency of attempts and higher number of pedestrian were found to influence pedestrians to accept a bigger gap size. The binary logistic regression developed for the crossing choice model was found to be influenced by traffic speed, driver yield, pedestrian number and age group. Furthermore, lower traffic speed, willingness of drivers to slow down, more pedestrian crossings at the same time and a younger age group lead to a higher chance or probability of crossing roads. The model was validated again using 100 isolated samples and an accuracy of 98% was obtained compared to the calibrated model which yielded an accuracy of 98.9%.

Implication Statement The Community Health and Social Medicine (CHASM) Incubator is a social impact venture that gives medical and other health care students the opportunity to develop initiatives that sustainably promote health equity for, and in partnership with, community partners and historically marginalized communities. Students learn how to develop projects with project management curricula, are paired with community health mentors, and are given seed micro-financing. As the first community health incubator driven by medical students, CHASM provides a framework for students interested in implementing sustainable solutions to local health disparities which extends the service-learning opportunities offered in existing curricula.
