Markets are affected by assorted consumer requirements, which insist on superior quality, shorter delivery time, better customer support, and lower prices. Simultaneously, product life cycles are becoming shorter. Success relies on having either a cost-benefit or a value benefit, or, both in any competitive context. Therefore, non-destructive techniques (NDT) become vital but in the conventional system, the maintenance personnel has to visit the machine that consumes time and energy. In the present COVID-19 situation and to save energy and time, there is a necessity of making condition monitoring contactless as much as possible. Therefore, in this research work, a structural health monitoring analysis presented that covers: firstly, enlisting of the NDT infrastructure commonly available in heavy manufacturing industries; secondly, common causes and reasons of machine failures and finally, discusses need of embedded structural health monitoring (e-SHM) system with the combination of NDT in place of existing monitoring practice. The presented work suggested that a combination of NDT with e-SHM is better for timely fault detection to ensure effective condition monitoring.

Indonesia's energy consumption mostly comes from non-renewable energy sources, with 32% dedicated to the transportation sector. The Indonesian government is currently increasing the application of a 30% biodiesel blend in diesel fuel and aiming for a 20% blend of bioethanol in gasoline by 2025. Microalgae is one of the most promising sources for biodiesel production, yielding ethanol and glycerol as by-products. The main processes in this biodiesel plant are cultivation, transesterification, and washing, with glycerol as a side product. For bioethanol, the processes include hydrolysis, fermentation, and separation. The cultivation process utilizes a photobioreactor to promote microalgae growth by controlling environmental parameters. The plant's biodiesel production capacity is 87,107.82 gallons per year, with bioethanol production at 65,330.88 gallons per year and glycerol at 217,769 gallons per year. With the government's tax incentive for the sustainable energy industry applied in this economic analysis, the Internal Rate of Return (IRR) value for this plant is 3%, while the Rate of Interest is 13%.

Intergenerational transmission of traditional knowledge plays an important role. The involvement of women shows a significant impact on building family and community preparedness. However, limited attention paid to the unique contributions of Acehnese women has identified an erosion of traditional knowledge systems in the local context. This study explores the role and involvement of Acehnese women in the intergenerational transmission of knowledge about disaster preparedness based on local wisdom. A qualitative study in Banda Aceh and Aceh Besar involving interviews with key informants namely where they live, victims or non-victims of the 2004 Aceh tsunami, and career women or housewives. Acehnese ethnic women living in coastal areas were sampled randomly and purposively. Ten agreed to participate and were interviewed. The face-to-face interviews were recorded, transcribed, and analyzed using an analytical framework. The interviews revealed that the role and involvement of women in the transmission of local knowledge and practices was hampered by cultural and political factors which caused the erosion of this knowledge.

This study aimed to minimize radiation risk in Solok Selatan by analyzing active concentrations of 226Ra, 232Th, and 40K, calculating excess lifetime cancer risk (ELCR) from annual effective dose equivalent (AEDE). Soil samples from seven sites in the Solok Selatan, 0 – 5 cm deep, were tested with a high-purity germanium (HPGe) detector. 232Th concentrations exceeded the established global standard of 30 Bq/kg. In addition, the study included the determination of Radium Equivalent (Raeq), absorbed gamma dose rate (D), AEDE, and ELCR. Annual effective dose ranged from 68.33 to 19.92 μSv/y, below the global average of 80 μSv/y. The ELCR, the critical measure for understanding potential health risks, was 0.27 ± 0.12 x 10-3, under the global average of 0.29 x 10-3. Interestingly, areas closer to the geothermal sources, especially Koto Baru and Sungai Pagu, showed slightly higher natural radioactivity and corresponding effects. These findings emphasize the importance of rigorous surveillance and proactive measures in areas with high radioactivity characteristics. In summary, the results of this study provide important insights into the radiological landscape of Solok Selatan, urgently assisting in addressing potential health risks through informed risk assessment and strategies.

The Scombridae family represents one of the most commercially valuable groups of pelagic fish, widely consumed across the globe. Despite their economic importance and high market demand, scientific data on Scombridae species in Aceh remains scarce. This study aimed to document Scombridae landings from Aceh waters. Fish samples belonging to the Scombridae family were collected from several Fish Landing Sites (TPIs) across Aceh Province. The collected samples were subsequently analyzed at the Genetics and Aquatic Biodiversity Laboratory, Faculty of Marine and Fisheries, Universitas Syiah Kuala. A total of ten Scombridae species were identified from the collected samples: Auxis rochei, Auxis thazard, Euthynnus affinis, Katsuwonus pelamis, Rastrelliger brachysoma, Rastrelliger kanagurta, Scomberomorus commerson, Scomberomorus guttatus, Sarda orientalis, and Thunnus albacares. Banda Aceh had the highest distribution of fish of the Scombridae family, followed by Meulaboh. The findings of this study provide critical baseline data for the future management and conservation of Scombridae fish, particularly in Aceh and Indonesia more broadly.

Background: The Covid-19 pandemic is thought to affect a number of causes of stunting, including exclusive breastfeeding, early breastfeeding initiation, and illness exposure. Objectives: This study aims to investigate the effect of early initiation of breastfeeding, exclusive breastfeeding, and infectious diseases on stunting during the Covid-19 pandemic. Methods: The study was conducted in 6 stunting focus location villages in 2 subdistricts in Balangan Regency in June 2022. Children aged 6-23 months, both stunted and normal, served as the case samples in the case-control research design. Utilizing the Lemeshow formula, 66 samples with a 1:2 comparison were selected using a simple random sampling technique. In the case and control groups, the characteristics were equalized based on gender and age. Statistical analysis was conducted using the chi-square test and binary logistic regression. Results: early initiation of breastfeeding (p=0.001, OR=6.806, CI=2.185-21.201), exclusive breastfeeding (p=0.021, OR=4.080, CI=1.363-12.209) and infectious diseases (p=0.000, OR=12.244, CI=3.118-48.086). Infectious diseases had the most influence on the incidence of stunting during the Covid-19 pandemic, proved by the magnitude of the OR value. Conclusions: During the Covid-19 pandemic, the rate of stunting was influenced by early breastfeeding initiation, exclusive breastfeeding, and infectious diseases.

The community’s reliance on logging forest resources has reached the limit of its carrying capacity. Non-timber forest products are one type of natural resource that can help limit the direct use of timber forest products. Interviewing techniques and field observation were used to acquire data. The findings show that Arenga pinnata and other non-timber forest products (NTFPs) have economic potential as halal foods are Arenga pinnata, Hevea brasiliensis, Durio zibethinus, Areca catechu, Theobroma cacao, Parkia speciosa, Lansium parasiticum, and Archidendron pauciflorum.
