X-linked hypo/anhidrotic ectodermal dysplasia (AED) is the most common form of AED. It is manifested in boys by involvement of the adnexa, teeth and sweat glands. In girls, signs are usually minor and may include linear lesions that are poorly known since they are reported infrequently or overlooked. Herein we report 3 cases.There were two female patients who had been followed for several years, as well as the mother of one of the patients. Both of the younger patients had early diagnosis of DEA in childhood based on severe dental abnormalities, i.e. hypodontia and conical teeth, a typical facies, and cutaneous xerosis. The mother had milder signs and the diagnosis was made at the time of her daughter's diagnosis. All 3 had hypopigmented linear skin lesions (arms, buttocks or back), associated with a decrease in hair in one of them. Genetic analysis showed the R156H missense mutation at exon 3 of the EDA gene in all 3 patients.These hypopigmentation linear lesions, sometimes with hair loss, are well known to pediatric clinicians and dermatologists concerning early diagnosis of AED in girls, especially where the other signs are mild. Early diagnosis enables appropriate therapeutic management and genetic counseling regarding future pregnancy.

Autogenous bone is commonly used in pre-implant bone reconstructions. Five harvesting sites are frequently used: mandibular symphysis and ramus, iliac crest, calvaria and tibia. One of the deciding criterions among these sites is the donor site morbidity. The purpose of our work was to analyze the intra- and postoperative complications that may occur on the different donor sites.An automatic and manual search on Medline covering the period 1990-2015 was made. Human studies, in English or French language, detailing the complications linked to bone harvest done for pre-implant surgery were included.Eighty-three clinical trials or case reports were analyzed. Iliac crest, mandibular symphysis and ramus donor sites were afflicted with the highest pain scores and sensory disturbances. Iliac and tibial bone harvests were complicated by walk disturbances in the first weeks. Some rare neurological complications have been reported after calvarial bone harvest.Although commonly used, iliac crest bone harvest is responsible for significant morbidity. Calvarial harvest is related to the lowest morbidity. It has to be performed by an experienced team in order to reduce the risk of neurologic injury. Regarding intraoral donor sites, mandibular symphysis becomes less popular. Mandibular ramus harvest has the lowest complication rate and is well accepted by patients.

The synthesis of five chlorobenzyl benzylidene imidazolidinediones and four fluorobenzyl benzylidene thiazolidinediones is described. In order to investigate their antimicrobial activity they are evaluated against microorganism such as Candida albicans, Neurospora crassa, Staphylococcus aureus, Mycobacterium smegmatis and Escherichia coli.

Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori), ex-Campylobacter pylori, is now considered to be the causative agent of active chronic gastritis in humans and may be diagnosed by histology, gram-stain, culture, urease test or noninvasively by 14C-urea breath test. The aim of this study was to determine the sensitivity, specificity, and reproducibility of the breath test as compared with the microbiological (culture) "gold standard". Forty-one subjects were studied. Gastroscopy was performed in all participants and 2 antral mucosa biopsy specimens were taken for urease test and microbiological (gram-stain and culture) studies. The breath test was performed within one week after the gastroscopy. After fasting overnight, a control breath sample was obtained and a standard meal was offered to delay gastric emptying. Then, the participants drank 5 microCi of 14C-urea in 20 ml of water and breath samples were collected at 10, 15, 30 and 60 min in a hyamine-ethanol solution with a p-H indicator. A repeat test was performed in 9 subjects to assess test reproducibility. Twenty-nine subjects (71 percent) were Hp positive and 12 (29 percent) H. pylori negative. A highly significant difference (p less than 0.0001) was observed in 14CO2 exhalation in colonized and non-colonized subjects in samples collected at all times studied. As compared with culture we found that the breath test was 97 percent sensitive and 100 percent specific. We conclude that 14C-urea breath test is a simple, inexpensive, sensitive, and reliable method to detect H. pylori colonization. It is a useful test to epidemiologic and therapeutic trials.

The intermediate filament protein of the electric organ from the Electrophorus electricus L. was purified in DEAE-cellulose column after extraction with a Triton X-100 buffer and urea solubilization. The desmin was analysed by SDS-PAGE against desmin purified from chicken gizzard. Characterization of desmin from the electric eel was carried out by peptide mapping and immunoblotting methods.

Archaeological documentation on the Jablines sector in Seine-et-Marne has grown in recent years, thanks to archaeological mitigation and several contemporary and functionally complementary sites have been discovered. They range from the end of the 5th to the 3rd millennium. An unpublished synthesis of a little over twenty lithic assemblages makes it possible to put into perspective the use of raw materials, artefact production, reduction techniques, and to identify the producers' objectives. The study of workshops associated with domestic settlements, but still located outside the mining sector, showed against all expectations that they are axeheads producing sites. In particular, they delivered axe blanks and shaping chips, which may indicate the existence of secondary centres of axe production.. Workshops are interfaces between extraction sites and consumer sites. There has been an evolution, over time, in the quality of axehead production and in the objectives of production cutting objectives. These variations undoubtedly highlight a transformation in the relationship between producers and consumers., La documentation archéologique sur le secteur de Jablines en Seine-et-Marne s’est accumulée ces dernières années grâce à l’archéologie préventive et plusieurs sites contemporains et fonctionnellement complémentaires ont été mis au jour. Ils s’échelonnent de la fin du Ve au IIIe millénaire. Une synthèse inédite d’un peu plus d’une vingtaine de séries lithiques permet de mettre en perspective les matières premières, les productions, les techniques de taille et d’identifier les objectifs des producteurs. L’étude d’ateliers associés à des occupations domestiques, mais toujours installés à l’extérieur de la minière a montré contre toute attente qu’il s’agit de sites producteurs, intermédiaires, de haches. Les ateliers sont des interfaces entre les sites d’extraction et les sites consommateurs. On remarque une évolution de la qualité de la production des haches et des objectifs du débitage au cours du temps. Ces variations mettent sans doute en évidence une transformation des relations entre tailleurs et consommateurs.

International audience; The application of photogrammetry in archaeology has developed greatly in the last ten years. A short while ago, the technique was confined to prestigious operations because it required sophisticated and expensive technical means. Nowadays, it can be used by all operators thanks to the increase in computer hardware and the development of specific software, such as those based on the close-range photogrammetric technique. The democratization in the use of these powerful, fast and accurate tools allows users to increase the number of surveys and opens, at the same time, new research perspectives. In addition, the ability to manage more data in a short time makes it possible to deal with new topics that were previously difficult to face, while their efficiency changes the standpoint and the interest on the subject. Nevertheless, such changes involve developing new intervention strategies and working methods. Photogrammetric processes have been implemented on three recent archeological programs in Egypt: the Tiberius Gate at Medamoud, the el-Nabih cistern in Alexandria, the Ayn-Soukhna charred boat. The efficiency and the interest of photogrammetric solutions have been tested on these various fieldwork contexts.
