Our unequal global food system is unsustainable for people and planet. We urgently need to rethink how the world feeds its people. The food crisis we are facing is not new. Extreme inequality and poverty, rights abuses, conflict, climate change and inflation – exacerbated by the pandemic and the war in Ukraine – mean that hundreds of millions of people do not have enough to eat. While millions of people are struggling to find their next meal, the world’s main food traders have made record profits, adding billions to their collective wealth., This paper debunks 10 myths about our food system and provides an alternative framing that will lead to better outcomes for the long term. We must shift our current food system from an industrial, exploitative and extractive model to a local and sustainable one that contributes to climate resilience and realizes people’s right to food – one that reduces inequality and poverty., Notre système alimentaire mondial inégalitaire n’est viable ni pour les populations ni pour la planète. Inégalités et pauvreté extrêmes, violations des droits, conflits, changement climatique et inflation, exacerbés par la pandémie et la guerre en Ukraine, plongent des centaines de millions de personnes dans une situation où elles ne mangent pas à leur faim. Alors même que des millions de personnes peinent à trouver quoi mettre dans leur assiette pour leur prochain repas, les plus grands négociants mondiaux de matières premières agricoles réalisent des bénéfices records et voient leur richesse collective augmenter par milliards. Le présent rapport déconstruit 10 mythes concernant notre système alimentaire et propose une autre analyse, ambitionnant de meilleurs résultats sur le long terme. Nous devons abandonner notre système alimentaire actuel et son modèle industriel fondé sur l’exploitation et l’extraction, au profit d’un modèle local et durable qui contribue à la résilience climatique et à la réalisation du droit à l’alimentation, en réduisant les inégalités et la pauvreté.

The Kenyan Ministry of Health envisages that family physicians should play an important role in the implementation of community orientated primary care (COPC) in collaboration with the community health team. The Kenyan Community Health Strategy forms a solid basis for the implementation of the COPC model. Residents and faculty of the Family Medicine department at the Aga Khan University Hospital Nairobi collaborated with the Kaloleni sub-county of Kilifi County government near Mombasa in a five-step COPC process to better understand and act against the high prevalence of HIV stigma in the coastal region. Firstly, a deeper understanding of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) stigma was acquired through community visits and work in the comprehensive care clinic. Secondly, a collaborative implementation team was formed to design a targeted and feasible intervention. In a participatory approach, a two-step intervention was employed, firstly sensitising healthcare workers and community health volunteers (CHVs) on the high prevalence of HIV stigma in their community and educating them on HIV-related issues. Secondly, the information was disseminated to the community through home visits by CHVs, health talks and the set-up of an HIV support group at the facility. This short report illustrates the important contribution of family physicians to implementation of COPC and capacity building of the primary healthcare team.

The European Commission aims to decrease GHG emissions to 80% below 1990 levels by 2050 (EU, 2017). The housing stock has a considerable share that equals to 40% of energy consumption and 36% of emissions in the EU. The current research aims to evaluate the homeowners’ energy renovation decisions on the exterior, interior, and insulation/installation of their house. The householders’ renovation decisions are analyzed with regards to (1) which stages to help/support and (2) what information is essential in the renovation process. Considering the extent of difficulty for private homeowners’ in accessing information and complexity in conducting the renovation, transaction cost (TC) theory is applied in understanding the decisions. The data has been collected through a survey among 3,776 of the Dutch homeowners in 2012. Then, statistical and logistic regression analysis has been conducted to analyze the renovation decisions for two groups of homeowners: renovators and potential renovators. According to the results and the outcomes of this study: (1) For the renovators: (a) the main identified stages in getting help are in carrying out the renovation, determining the costs, and looking for the reliable professional/ contractor, (b) the main identified sources of information are at the maintenance/ installation companies, family/ friends, and via internet; (2) For the potential renovators: (a) the main identified help stages are in determining the costs, looking for a reliable professional and carrying out the renovation/ improvement, (b) the main identified sources of information are via the internet, by a maintenance/ installation companies, and family/ friends. The main difference among the renovators is for insulation/ installation. The most significant stage in getting help for insulation/installation is to find out the most efficient solutions. Similar results have been found for the potential renovators; the only difference was in the order of the influencing factors.

Maxim Delodder offers a translation of the article “Lezen als een lesbo” [“Reading as a lesbian”] (1988) by Maaike Meijer. The researcher, a pioneer in gender studies in literature in the Netherlands, analyses the writings of several Dutch women poets, adopting a lesbian interpretive framework to give new meanings to these texts.

Ce livre se démarque clairement de ces travaux. Son ambition est de réaliser un tour d’horizon des grands questionnements, des théories, des concepts et des méthodes qui traversent les différentes disciplines de sciences humaines et sociales, et qui peuvent enrichir et affiner l’étude de la politique étrangère. Il met ainsi à jour avec rigueur et clarté toute la complexité de l’analyse de la politique étrangère.

Alternatives for coercive treatment in psychiatry, based on partnership between clients, social networks and social workers, need to be given full attention. Despite its potential to inhibit isolation, self-exclusion and reduce coercion, organising Family Group Conferences (FGC) in this field is complex. The process of a FGC may evoke shame and unbelief in the willingness of people to help out. Furthermore a lack of reciprocity in relationships can contribute to the stagnation of the FGC process. The goal of this article is to understand relational dynamics between clients, relatives and friends in the carrying out of a FGC, by applying theoretical concepts on symbolic capital, recognition, reciprocity and gift giving derived from Bourdieu. Using the analytical strategy of ‘thinking with theory’, we selected three FGCs suitable for illuminating both challenges and opportunities, viewing each FGC as a social field. Bourdieu’s theoretical concepts help to understand and overcome difficulties in organising a FGC so participants can discuss, decide and negotiate relational dynamics in the field. Working with FGCs requires for social workers a shift in doing and thinking, facilitating the primary group to discuss expectations, diffusion of tasks, commitments and plans.

Cet article décrit un modèle complet qui permet d’identifier des souvenirs cibles essentiels pour le traitement EMDR. L’“Approche des deux méthodes” peut s’appliquer à la conceptualisation et à la réalisation du traitement pour une large gamme de symptômes et de problèmes autres que ceux qui sont directement en lien avec l’ESPT. Le modèle se compose de deux types de conceptualisation de cas. La Première méthode s’applique aux symptômes permettant de préciser de manière significative les événements étiologiques ou aggravants sur une ligne du temps. Elle est principalement destinée à la conceptualisation et au traitement de troubles de l’Axe I du DSM-IV-TR. La Seconde méthode est utilisée pour identifier les souvenirs qui sous-tendent les croyances fondamentales dysfonctionnelles. Cette méthode est principalement destinée à traiter les formes plus graves de psychopathologie, comme la phobie sociale sévère, l’ESPT complexe ou les troubles de la personnalité. Les deux méthodes de conceptualisation de cas sont expliquées point par point, en détail, et sont illustrées par des exemples de cas.
