This work lies within the scope of the physical modeling of the interaction of the zones of failure of the close shallow foundations. This study, primarily experimental required the design and the realization of a small-scale model. It is about a parallelepipedic device containing of granulated of polystyrene to simulate a pulverulent natural environment. This last is subjected to the sinking of the “shallow footings”. Imposed displacement is controlled and consequently all the two-dimensional problem is kinematic. During each test, a multitude of numerical photographs are taken to materialize of the different deformed configurations. These treated photographs, in couple; by software 7D (correlation of images) give the evolution of the field of displacement and plane deformation of the environment (Vacher et al., 1999). A detailed attention is lent to the discussion of the interaction of the zones of failure under shallow foundations close at the time of the reduction to their between axis.
