The research method in the dialectology and geolinguistics fields that has been experimented for more than one century now has favoured the approach of oral history as a resort to reach the informant’s readiness to speak. However this one develops a « story » motivated by likelyhood and a desire of justification for himself and in front of others rather than by veracity. The veil of silence still hiding the Spanish War generates fantasy stories on the brink of the literary genre.

This article presents some reflections about problems that may rise around the construction and use of nature and culture as concepts for anthropological analysis, and their possibilites for studying mayan cultures. It suggests that mayan communities establish different kind of relationships between this two domains, as well as between humanity and animality. In contrast with the western point of view, which establishes rigid borders and insoluble differences, the mayan vision presents continuities, reversibilities and interconnections, in a universe where materiality and space seem to offer multiple possiblities of passing through for life and being.

Storytelling follows an exclusive narrative process. In order to understand its mechanisms, we have immersed ourselves into oral narration through practice, observation and experimentation. Thanks to a corpus of study collected on the Island of Tenerife, in the Canary Islands, we have analyzeddiverse narrative performances. This work has enabled us to identify different steps in narration, such as the “meeting pact”, the “introduction pact” and the “separation pact”. These pacts are worked between the narrator and his-her auditors, and their study have led us to articulate a moving definition of storytelling, conceiving it as a social event in which the interalimentation of the narrative relationship consists of a sine qua non condition for the narrative success.; El relato oral sigue su propio proceso narrativo.

This article (1) describes the complex sentence constructions of French and Korean in terms of Foley & Van Valin’s (1984) taxonomy of clause linkage; (2) examines, from a typological and functional perspective, the development of complex sentences in the oral narrative discourse (elicited from the picture book Frog where are you?) of 30 French-Korean bilingual children from 5 to 10 years of age at two different stages of consecutive (or successive) bilingualism (De Houwer 1995) : an early stage (GA) where Korean is the dominant language, and a later stage (GB) where the dominant language is French. The results of the analysis show that the increase in multipropositional constructions, and their development, can be seen in the both languages by the diversity of the types of junction attested (according to the syntactic-semanti c complexity criterion of Van Valin, 1984). However, only the Korean productions, in particular the narratives of the bilingual children having Korean as the dominant language, show an increase in the number of propositions. This effect is probably due t the specifics of Korean : this language’s verbal serialisation constructions allow for fine granularity (Noyau 1997), resulting in a high number of propositions within the complex predicate (higher condensation). As these serialisation constructions are acquired, so the overall number of propositions increases. We can interpret our results in the sense of Slobin (1991, 1996), in the case of bilingual acquisition of two typologically very different languages, the dominant language influences the way children pay attention to the events to be formulated. Thus, following the specificities of Korean, the Korean-dominant bilingual children tend more to express the manner of action, and to segment events into micro-events.

This study tries to show, by presenting the structuring style of the verbal French pronunciation within the framework of the utterance theories, the place and importance of the analysis of pronunciation in teaching French as a foreign language through an analysis which is realized in syntactic, intonative and pragmatic dimensions by using samples from video records. After first explaining the theories of pioneer theoreticians under the light of certain concepts, we will take these theories as base in the development of verbal pronunciation skills and because of the fact that analysis of the pronunciation contributes to the development of verbal pronunciation skills and thus to the development of communication skills in teaching French as a foreign language, we will conclude that linguists and other academicians related to this issue should take it into account in foreign language teaching within the framework of communicational and interactional approach. The video recordings of the study are also presented in the appendix. 173

“Generations in Genoa” is an article by Alessandro Portelli, unpublished in French and translated by Laura Brignon. Written by A. Portelli in 2005, based on oral narrative interviews from the time, it looks back at the days of the G8 in Genoa, cross-referencing first-hand accounts from young people, who were sometimes demonstrating for the first time, with those of their parents, swaying between pride, fear and anger. The death of Carlo Giuliani plays a particularly central role, from a chronological, political and psychological point of view, as a key point of identification in the parent-children relationships. By weaving together movements, narratives and emotions right up to the post-Genoa period, Portelli also shows how this event, like 68, is likely to reverse the direction of political tradition.

“Genoa 2001”: beyond the spatial and temporal coordinates of the protests against the G8 summit, there are memorial processes of a heterogeneous community which continues to remember the events of those days. In this essay, oral sources related to the collected interviews are not analysed from the perspective of bringing back to the present unheard memories of the counter-summit. Instead, the aim of the essay is to scour the memorial boundary of the event by analysing how memory is reiterated orally, producing multiple temporalities. The second part of the text, will examine in depth the memory frameworks of the Genoa G8 Summit, showing the constellations of foundation myths, plural narratives and temporalities of remembrance linking 2001 with the present by people interviewed.
