The aim of the "Youth Forum of the DGOU" during the Convention 2010 in Heidelberg was to place a statement concerning the professional politics in the field of Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery. The Bologna Process realizes a standardization of the academic training within the European Union. For medicine this concept would raise the opportunity to opt out after three years with a bachelor degree applying for alternative occupations within the health care system. However, these alternative occupations are rarely defined and, in addition, the current structure of medical school in Germany provides the highest possible education for doctors in a direct and very well established way. Thus, reforming medical school in Germany into a Bachelor-master's system is an ambivalent approach, which considers a thorough reappraisal. There is currently no necessity for an speciality training in emergency medicine. The rapid and qualified treatment by the specific subspecialty provides a high standard of care for the patient. The high frequency exposure of the trauma and orthopaedic resident with emergency cases is an essential part of the current professional training.The "Junge Forum der DGOU" continues to understand the speciality training "Facharzt für Orthopädie und Unfallchirurgie" as the basic module of the profession. After that it should be possible to continuing subspecialty training and obtaining "spezielle Unfallchirurgie" bzw "spezielle orthopädische Chirurgie". The emigration of young German physicians, the occupational image of the Physician Assistant and the quality of the German residency programs in Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery we discussed as main topics. The main reason for young German physicians to go abroad is, besides better work conditions and less bureaucracy, the better structured education during residency. Therefore the "Youth Forum" generally supports the concept of the "physician assistant" as "a relief from non-physician duties rather than discussing the delegation of true physician duties". The "Youth Forum" is looking forward to collaborating on the improvement of the ongoing education of residents. In this regard, Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery needs to become more attractive for young academics. We also support a uniform and nationwide curriculum, which guarantees a structured education to improve the theoretic, practical and academic skills of the future specialist in orthopaedic and trauma surgery. Additional surveys and interviews among the current generation of residents are needed to further specify the potential goals of such a curriculum. Introduction: Routine medical care in Germany, Austria and Switzerland is being increasingly impacted by the cultural and linguistic diversity of an ever more complex world. Both at home and as part of international student exchanges, medical students are confronted with different ways of thinking and acting in relation to health and disease. Despite an increasing number of courses on cultural competence and global health at German-speaking medical schools, systematic approaches are lacking on how to integrate this topic into medical curricula.Methodological approach: This paper is based on a structured consensus-building process by a multidisciplinary committee composed of faculty and students. In a first step, a qualitative online survey was carried out in order to establish an inventory of definitions and concepts. After the second step, in which a literature search was conducted and definitions of global health and transcultural and intercultural competence were clarified, recommendations were formulated regarding content, teaching and institutional infrastructure. Based on small-group work and large-group discussions, different perspectives and critical issues were compiled using multiple feedback loops that served to ensure quality.Results: An inventory on the national and international level showed that great heterogeneity exists in regard to definitions, teaching strategies, teaching formats and faculty qualification. Definitions and central aspects considered essential to medical education were thus established for the use of the terms “cultural competence” and “global health”. Recommendations are given for implementation, ranging from practical realization to qualification of teaching staff and education research.Outlook: High-quality healthcare as a goal calls for the systematic internationalization of undergraduate medical education. In addition to offering specific courses on cultural competence and global health, synergies would be created through the integration of cultural competence and global health content into the curricula of already existing subject areas. The NKLM (the national competence-based catalogue of learning objectives for undergraduate medical education) would serve as a basis for this.

Background and Objective: The digital transformation of healthcare requires changed competences in the nursing professions. The reform of nursing education opens up the opportunity to anchor the requisite content in vocational education. The framework curricula of the expert commission ("Rahmenpläne der Fachkommission nach § 53 Pflegeberufegesetz") form the basis for the federal states to create their own framework curricula. This paper examines to what extent and in what form the framework curricula take up digitalisation., Material and Methods: The framework curricula were investigated in an explicative-qualitative content analysis between August and October 2021. First, the frequency of previously defined keywords was determined. This was followed by a systematic context analysis., Results: Merely six federal states had created their own framework curriculum; the others used the federal framework curriculum, which only addresses the acquisition of competences in the field of digitalisation to a small extent. Digitalisation was addressed to varying degrees in the federal state's own framework plans but only selectively overall. Recommendations for practical exercise formats were hardly given., Discussion: The acquisition of competences in the area of digitalisation forms the foundation for later professional life and is an important component of the digital transformation. In the context of the possibility of modifying nursing education until 2024, the topic should be taken into focus more strongly. Simulation-based training (SBT) is increasingly acknowledged worldwide and has become a popular tool for ultrasound education. Ultrasound simulation involves the use of technology and software to create a virtual training setting. Simulation-based training allows healthcare professionals to learn, practice, and improve their ultrasound imaging skills in a safe learning-based environment. SBT can provide a realistic and focused learning experience that creates a deep and immersive understanding of the complexity of ultrasound, including enhancing knowledge and confidence in specific areas of interest. Abdominal ultrasound simulation is a tool to increase patient safety and can be a cost-efficient training method. In this paper, we provide an overview of various types of abdominal ultrasound simulators, and the benefits, and challenges of SBT. We also provide examples of how to develop SBT programs and learning strategies including mastery learning. Background: The learning objectives in the current cross-sectional subject "Rehabilitation, Physical Medicine, Naturopathic Medicine" have been revised as part of the further development of the National Competency-Based Catalogue of Learning Objectives for Medicine (NKLM) to its new version 2.0. Since the NKLM is designed as an interdisciplinary catalogue, a subject assignment seemed necessary from the point of view of various stakeholders. Thus, the German Association of Scientific Medical Societies (AWMF) and the German medical faculties initiated a subject assignment process. The assignment process for the subject "Physical and Rehabilitative Medicine, Naturopathic Medicine" (PRM-NHV; according to the subject list of the first draft of the planned novel medical license regulations from 2020) is presented in this paper., Material and Methods: The AWMF invited its member societies to participate in the assignment of learning objectives of chapters VI, VII, and VIII of the NKLM 2.0 to the individual subjects to which they consider to contribute in teaching. For "PRM-NHV", representatives of the societies for rehabilitation sciences (DGRW), physical and rehabilitation medicine (DGPRM), orthopaedics and traumatology (DGOU), as well as for naturopathy (DGNHK) participated. In a structured consensus process according to the DELPHI methodology, the learning objectives were selected and consented. Subsequently, subject recommendations were made by the AWMF for each learning objective., Results: From the NKLM 2.0, a total of 100 competency-based learning objectives of chapters VII and VIII for the subject "PRM-NHV" were consented by the representatives of the involved societies for presentation on the NKLM 2.0 online platform., Conclusions: In the context of the revision process of medical studies in Germany and under the umbrella of the AWMF and the German medical faculties, a broad consensus of competency-based learning objectives in the subject "PRM-NHV" could be achieved. With the introduction of medical psychology and medical sociology as examination subjects in the medical curriculum, as enacted by the year 1970 in Germany, medical faculties established professorships and departments for these disciplines. This raised the concern of how the two separate scientific cultures of the social and behavioural sciences and of medicine, rooted in basic sciences, could reconcile their teaching and research activities in a constructive way. It turned out that the quality and the thematic affinity of new research aligning with core medical interests were important preconditions of successful integration of the new disciplines. This paper exemplifies a respective success in case of a scientific development in medical sociology. Based on a theoretical model, a longstanding, internationally collaborating research program analysing social determinants of stress-related disorders resulted in a series of innovative insights. The new dental licensing regulations (ZApprO) have been in effect since the 2021/2022 winter semester and stipulate that a "professional field exploration course" be offered in the dentistry degree program. At Saarland University, the course consists of five parts: (I) introduction, (II) practicum, (III) reflection report, (IV) symposium, and (V) evaluation. The practicum is designed to provide students with earlier exposure to clinical reality, give them more confidence in dealing with patients, motivate them, and teach them about the professional role in the healthcare profession. In addition, the reflection report and symposium will initiate the development of scientific competencies. The evaluation, together with the evaluation of the reflection reports, serves to verify the success of the introduction of the course. Presents a theoretical framework for an empirical analysis of subject matter based on conceptual definitions of instruction and schooling. This paper presents a small-scale empirical study which included 21 senior-year students of German as a major who took a course on the methodology of teaching German as a foreign language in the spring semesters 2020 and 2021, at the Faculty of Philology at the University of Belgrade (Serbia). The students were encouraged to read several articles by the Austrian educational philosopher Konrad Paul Liessmann and to record their reflections on the possible effects of the commercialization of purpose-oriented knowledge. The articles in question are based on Liessmann's so-called "Theory of Uneducation". The students' tasks were analyzed and discussed, with the focus on their statements regarding the following aspects: a) possible challenges, opportunities and dangers of unavoidable digitization and mechanization in everyday life and at school, and b) the changing roles and tasks in the educational context. All this more or less aims at application-oriented knowledge management. The participants supported Liessmann's thesis that education is losing value through commercial exploitation, accumulation of TV quiz knowledge and extensive testing and examining. However, his skepticism with regard to digitization in the school system and his plea for more traditional canons of school subjects were mostly met with disapproval by the participants. In recent years, the amount of time allotted to foreign language teaching has tended to even up in the various types of schools in West Germany. The Hauptschulen (grade 9 "terminal" schools) have shown a marked increase, the Realschulen (secondary schools) some increase, and the Gymnasien (university-preparatory) a decrease. (IFS/WGA)

Conversations with secondary pupils reveal their reasons for not electing foreign languages: lack of knowledge concerning the amount of work involved, fear of difficulty, and underrating the value of a second or third foreign language. Introduction: Examinations are a central element of the medical curriculum: they contribute significantly to the quality assurance of medical training and subsequent medical care. In order to meet the high expectations placed on examinations in terms of content, legal and organizational aspects, continuous quality assurance measures are necessary. The aim of this paper was to record and analyze the quality assurance measures implemented at the medical faculty of Heidelberg., Methods: We investigated quality indicators that are relevant to medical examinations - adequate choice of examination formats, blueprint/validity, reliability and distribution of grades, feedback to students, consequences of examinations - within the faculty examinations in the decentrally organized Heidelberg Curriculum Medicinale (HeiCuMed). In addition, the organizational structures in examination management were examined. For this purpose, interviews were conducted with teaching staff, students and the technical examination administration., Results: The surveys show that the quality indicators in HeiCuMed have already been met in many areas. Optimization work remains to be done concerning the criteria "adequate choice of examination formats", "feedback to students" as well as the documentation of the examination process and the definition of substitution regulations., Discussion: Training courses, statistical analysis and accompanying research are essential for establishing additional innovative, practice-oriented examination formats. In order to improve feedback to students, formative assessments should be more intensively integrated into the curriculum. As a measure for structured quality-oriented examination management, it is also helpful to document the examination procedure and the staff assigned to it using templates., Conclusion: Especially with decentralized examination management, the internal coordination of individual departments is of great importance in order to guarantee the quality of examinations. Background: Scientific skills are not sufficiently taught during medical training, neither in medical school nor during postgraduate education. This results in a lack of clinician scientists. In order to counter this problem, the surgical study network (CHIR -Net ) founded SIGMA (Student-initiated German Medical Audit). This paper describes the development, performance and evaluation of a Clinical Investigator Training (CIT) aiming to qualify students to autonomously conduct clinical trials., Material and Methods: Based on the Kern cycle, a curriculum was developed, composed of three parts: online tutorials, a workshop and a follow-up period. The educational objectives were defined according to Bloom's taxonomy of knowledge. The learning objectives were based on the requirements of the "Network of Coordinating Centers for Clinical Trials" and the German Medical Association as well as content relevant to clinical studies. A wide range of educational instruments and assessments were used. By including all relevant professional groups involved in clinical trials, an interconnected working environment for students was generated. The increase in knowledge was assessed by a multiple-choice pre/post exam. The satisfaction of participants was analysed by a 5-point Likert scale, on which 5 indicated full approval., Results: The first SIGMA CIT was realised in 2018; the workshop took place in Heidelberg in February. Thirty-two medical students from thirteen different centres participated. On average, 53.8 ± 8.3% of questions were answered correctly in the pre-test, compared with 71.2 ± 7.2% in the post-test (p < 0.0001). The maximal individual improvement was 30%; the lowest difference compared to the pre-test was 5%. Subjective evaluation results were positive with an average result of 4.63 ± 0.34 on a 5-point Likert scale., Conclusion: It is feasible to teach medical students the fundamentals of clinical trials. The aim of this paper is to describe the development of an innovative bachelor's degree program for physiotherapy directly affiliated with the medical department, which is a unique approach to making physiotherapy an academic course in Germany. The previous system for qualifying as a physiotherapist was amended by the adaption of qualification objectives resulting in a model that links scientific and vocational knowledge from the beginning of the study. Several lectures support interprofessionality. The vocational training is fully integrated into the curriculum. The exemplary concept is monitored by an extensive quality management program. Ultrasound in Student Education Abstract. The subject 'Ultrasound in Medicine', already introduced during the studies increases the motivation of students by its practical character and combines basic medical knowledge (anatomy, physiology) and imaging with clinical applications in a unique way. This is done on the one hand as a point of care method (POCUS) at the point of decision-making, and on the other hand as a 'radiological' method with intervention options. POCUS is the use of ultrasound by physicians to correctly identify problems and implement solutions at the point of action. Both the European Federation of Societies for Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology (EFSUMB) and the World Federation for Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology (WFUMB) have published position papers on the targeted application of ultrasound technology (point of care), the status of which is reported here.

This paper presents the results of theoretical and historical research and study of ideas and thoughts of the classics of pedagogy from the XVII to the XIX century (J.A. Comenius, Jean J. Rousseau, H. Pestalozzi, J. Locke, and Johan F. Herbart). The subject of our study is a review of scientific ideas of pedagogical classics on teaching and curriculum. We see the significance of this paper in presenting the understanding of pedagogical classics on teaching and curriculum, many of which are still relevant and important today. Throughout history, teaching has grown from individual to frontal through a series of transitional forms, and its most modern form assimilates the positive achievements of previous development. When it comes to the curriculum, from the point of view of interpreting pedagogical historiography, there are curricula and programs (contents) that were studied in schools in that period. That is why we are guided by the idea that we look at modern pedagogical topics such as teaching and curriculum, from a historical aspect in the light of theories and ideas of the classics of pedagogy.

This paper highlights the necessity of introducing a German language course for the students from the German line of studies. The main aim of this paper is to provide an error analysis based on the students' papers from the German line of studies. The analysis results confirm the necessity of introducing a language course in the German line of studies curriculum as the analysis carried out indicates linguistic competence shortcomings morphologically, syntactically and lexically. In this paper, we imply the role and influence of expert associates on the development and application of educational programs for children with autism spectrum disorders. The research sought to determine the extent to which professionals know the characteristics of autism, use appropriate methods of work and on this basis propose developmental and program goals, measures and areas for work and monitoring the achievements of a child with autism. We used the focus group method as a semi-structured instrument conducted by regions. There were a total of 43 respondents: special educators and rehabilitators, psychologists and pedagogues. The paper deals with the fact that school associates work on approaches based on visualization, organization, design, focus, purposefulness, and functionality are applied to children with autism. The basis of the work is the Individual Developmental-Educational Program (IDEP), which sets educational and developmental goals for each child. We found that in Montenegro the level of knowledge among professionals varies in relation to the methods of working with a child with autism spectrum disorders. Speech therapists are somewhat more able to recognize the needs and organize an appropriate approach, special educators are in transition from the paradigm of special to inclusive education, psychologists, pedagogues are not familiar with the characteristics and procedures of working with children with autism spectrum disorders. They identify important development and program goals insufficiently, the focus is on the role of speech therapists and less attention is given to resource experts. Based on the findings it is reccommended that a general framework for autism be developed. Conceptual solutions are oriented towards early learning, primary education and vocational training. Individual program focuses on developmental areas: communication, interaction, behavior, and independence. Then, evaluation indicators should monitor whether the child is being worked with on the basis of adjustments, visual instructions, structure and positive approach, level of communication development...
