In the guest article by Dr.-Ing. E. W. Udo Küppers, the question is raised as to why technical pipeline systems for the transport of air, compressed air, or multiphase flow are still being used despite high energy and cost losses. It is pointed out that outdated drive units, faulty compressed air devices, and inefficient control lead to a waste of compressed air energy. It is suggested to use natural models such as meandering in flow systems to improve the efficiency of compressed air systems. Experiments with meandering pipe bends have shown that this can result in a measurable advantage in flow efficiency. The use of natural principles could lead to sustainable progress in technical development. [Extracted from the article]
