The article concerns early medieval egg-shaped rattles from the area of Silesia. First of all, the issue of how they were made and glazed is studied. The issues of the origin of these products and their role in the culture of ancient societies, as problems repeatedly raised by other researchers, is treated marginally. Macro- and microscopic observations, experimental studies, as well as the results of analyses of the chemical composition of glazes and petrographic tests of ceramic bodies were used to study the technology of making eggs-shaped -rattles. On their basis, the probable process of their formation and glazing was reconstructed. While the making of the ceramic base did not require extraordinary skills, the glazing and decoration of the rattles took place in several stages, requiring knowledge of advanced pottery techniques. For their decoration, a specific category of glaze was used, namely high-lead non alkali glass.

Four seasons of documentation have supplied pertinent data to indicate that theMain Sanctuary of Amun-Re in the Temple of Hatshepsut in Deir el-Bahari was perceived froma theological perspective as a cult place for the local form of Foremost of +sr-Dsrw and for the royalworship of Hatshepsut connected with it. The latter aspect was of sufficient significance to warrant twice a far-going modification of the decoration of the tympanum of the east wall of the Bark Hall, influencing the way the Inner Sanctuary was illuminated.

An extensive archaeological prospection along the coasts of Failaka recorded over180 sites, different stone structures, surface pottery assemblages, farms and enclosures. These wereregistered, documented and mapped. Stone by stone plans were drawn up of a number of substantialstructures that were cleaned and some general observations were made. All prospected and cleanedstructures proved to be built of local ashlar sandstone straight on solid ground or bedrock. Allkinds of mortar and plaster was used for building construction. Flat stones of similar dimensionswere carefully selected. Buildings were neatly designed with entrances always in the middle of thefront wall. Archaeological sites of Al-Sabbahiya, Um al-Dakhan, Matitah, Kharaib el-Desht witha density of different historical structures dating from the mid- and late Islamic period are found inthe southern regions of Failaka Island.
