Der Beitrag setzt sich in essayistischer Form mit der Disziplin und Profession Sozialer Arbeit in ihrer Beziehung zu Wissensbeständen von Bezugswissenschaften, mit einem Schwerpunkt auf Soziologie, auseinander. Die leitende These hierbei ist, dass die Soziale Arbeit in Theorie und Praxis und disziplin- und professionshistorisch ganz wesentlich auf Wissensbestände der Soziologie verwiesen ist. Für die weitere Entwicklung der Sozialen Arbeit bedarf es jedoch einer klaren Zentrierung dieser Wissensbestände auf Fragen, Problemstellungen und Gegenstandsbestimmungen der Sozialen Arbeit. Soziologisches Wissen, auch wenn es vielfach als abstrakt und nicht unmittelbar praxistauglich wahrgenommen wird, kann als wesentliches Fundament einer gesellschaftstheoretisch fundierten, kritischen Sozialen Arbeit von Nutzen sein. The essay deals with the relation of the discipline and profession of social work to knowledge stocks of its reference sciences, with a focus on sociology. The leading theses is that social work in theory and practice is essentially related to the knowledge of sociology, both in terms of the history of the discipline and the profession. However, the further development of social work requires a clear centering of this stock of knowledge on questions, problems and object definitions of social work. Sociological knowledge, often perceived as abstract and not directly applicable to practice, can serve as the basis of a social-theoretically based, critical social work.

The article abovementioned was elaborated from a medieval Anniversary Book, mostly unpublished, hence the importance of editing it entirely, which was produced in the Collegiate of Santiago of Coimbra. We, basically, discuss the contribution for the study of the implementation of the Jacobean cult in that city. Furthermore, we collected countless elements to enhance knowledge of the socioeconomic life of the city under consideration and the relationship of the Christians in regard to death and the heavenly home. We emphasised the delivery of goods and money to Santiago clerg y as a pledge for several ceremonies intended for the forgiveness of sins.
