Mar`eva Gora is an archaeological site consisting of a multilayer flint workshop and Kul’bakovo I kurgan group consisted of two mounds. It is located on the high bank of the Yasinovka river (a tributary of the Mius River, the northeastern Sea of Azov region). This archaeological complex was discovered by P.I. Boriskovsky in 1952. During the rescue work on one of the kurgans in 1994, N.I. Romashchenko recorded a specific taphonomic situation. The mound was built completely of cultured sediments, with a very large number of the Stone Ages pecimens and natural debris. The remains of the specimens produced in the Neolithic, Late Paleolithic, and Middle Paleolithic periods are largely moved by postdeposition processes. Among the flint finds the dominated are the objects of the Middle Paleolithic. In this article, the authors analyze the taphonomic situation associated with the construction of the kurgan mound, and briefly characterize the flint collections of the Middle Paleolithic kept in the Taganrog Regional Museum and the Rostov Regional Museum.

The first aerial survey conducted within the vicinity of the ancient city of Metsamor and its cemetery detected several promising anomalies in the aerial photos and processed images within and beyond the known limits of the burial ground. The survey results are discussed in this article along with a brief outline of the burial types found in this cemetery.
