2. Schelers Phänomenologie der Affektivität und der Französische Nonkonformismus (Jankelevitch, Corbin, Aron).

KELLER, THOMAS
- Abstract
Scheler's impact on Non-conformism points to an affinity between the phenomenology of affectivity and the antibourgeois movement in interwar France. Scheler himself calls on the vitalism of Guyau and Bergson to argue against projective concepts of empathy. He broadens affective situations into an interaction between bourgeois tendencies to narrow ressentiment and generous cultural dynamics. Non-conformists appropriate these modes of affectivity, pried from faith contexts. Jankélévitch transforms Scheler's value ethic into an aggressive virtue ethic. Corbin draws from Scheler the inspiration for a syncretistic anthropology of responsiveness. With reference to Scheler, Aron develops an ethic of value decisions that is free from ressentiment. 4. What does it mean to be an alien? Bernhard Waldenfels and politics of responsive interculturalism

alien ,phenomenology ,responsiveness ,irreducible asymmetry ,interculturalism ,body ,Philosophy (General) ,B1-5802 - Abstract
The author analyzes the politics of responsive interculturalism in Bernhard Waldenfels’ thought, starting from the assumption that after Husserl’s phenomenology only two fundamental concepts - body and the Other - should be considered. In contemporary German “post-phenomenology” the first concept was systematically articulated by Hermann Schmitz, while the latter theme has been advanced in Waldenfels’ works as the phenomenology of the alien, up until the end of Western metaphysics. In the two parts of the discussion, the author draws on his fundamental hypothesis about aporias and paradoxes of interculturalism, since responsiveness and xenology cannot reach the positive definition of the concept of culture in the era of global entropy. The analysis, therefore, deals with the questions: (1) what is the responsiveness of man in relation to the Other, including the different ways of his presence in the world; and (2) whether the Other as alien and uncanny (Unheimlich) calls into question the basic assumption of phenomenology as such - the intentionality of consciousness?

As forums, School Governing Bodies have the makings of a great and unique South African democratic tradition as they reflect local deliberations, participative decision-making by stakeholders in education. The main contention of this article is that the SGB election processes at many public schools in South Africa are deficient. Legal analysis reveals the extent of non-uniformity of SGB election regulations among the nine provinces, as well as unlawful regulatory provisions, the unfair and undemocratic administration of the election process and misconceptions about democracy are causal factors that result deficiencies in SGB elections. The qualitative evidence affirms that parents are concerned about the insufficient information about candidates before and during elections, thus preventing voters from making informed decisions. Undemocratic features in the election process results in the election of unsuitable or incompetent candidates which has a detrimental effect on the governance of public schools. It is therefore recommended that a new set of nationally uniform SGB election regulations, which allows for transparent deliberation between candidates and voters should be promulgated before the next SGB election in order to address these shortcomings.

8. Responsive self-preservation: Towards an anthropological concept of responsiveness

Self-preservation ,responsiveness ,philosophical anthropology ,ethics ,Philosophy (General) ,B1-5802 - Abstract
The aim of this paper is to catch up with a conjecture designated by the term ‘responsive self-preservation’. This term appears neither strikingly beautiful nor intuitively understandable. Obviously it is a convoluted terminus technicus in need of conceptual clarification. The reasons for introducing it should therefore be good. That this is the case cannot be guaranteed from the outset. What can be offered here is a substitution of good reasons with high ambitions: the concept of ‘responsive self-preservation’ is designed to illuminate the conditio humana. In all brevity the claim is that human beings are responsive beings. This means that they do not just exist. In order to do so, they must respond to their existence. On the one hand the inner drive and utmost aspiration in human responsiveness therefore lies in self-preservation. On the other hand self-preservation is thoroughly transformed when embedded into human responsiveness. The article will thus use the concept of responsiveness and the concept of self-preservation to mutually clarify each other – in order to open the possibilities and avoid the pitfalls in each of them. In doing so, it aspires to intervene in contemporary philosophical anthropology.

- Abstract
Within many practical, professional and political fields, resilience has become a normative, barely questioned orientation principle, yet it has not been the subject of explicit reflection. The following considerations aim to contribute to closing this gap without assuming a dichotomy between the functional and the normative levels. Resilience is understood as a process whose focus is the response to upheaval and problems. The ability to respond, then, is the starting point from which the normative aspects of resilience can be more clearly brought out and connected to conceptual differences (simple and reflective resilience; specific and general resilience) within resilience discourse. This is grounded in Bernhard Waldenfels' idea of responsive ethics. Our concept seeks to provide greater understanding of the term "responsible resilience" and bring up the normativity of resilience in a reflective, non-dichotomous way. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Although social insurance in Austria is organised in the form of self-administration, there are hardly any possibilities for insured persons to have an organised say, which is why this study conducts quantitative research on the topic of participation in the area of cost reimbursement in social health insurance. In the research field, there have been no similar research projects to date that specifically relate to reimbursement. This bachelor thesis attempts to answer the research question of how people from Vienna and Lower Austria who are compulsorily insured in the social health insurance system perceive the possibility of participating in future participation projects in the field of reimbursement. First of all, the current state of research in the field of participation research in Austrian social insurance is presented in the course of the work. Building on this chapter, a standardised online survey with a quantitative research design in the field of participation is conducted as a research method. In the course of the research, 76 people from Vienna and Lower Austria were interviewed, who provided 1359 responses. The survey aimed to determine the willingness to participate and the perception of participation projects. Due to the majority willingness to participate in future participation projects in the field of reimbursement, it can be assumed that it is important for the respondents to contribute their views and experiences to the field of reimbursement. It was also found that the implementation of participation projects in the area of reimbursement leads to an increase in the public value of the statutory health insurance.

Context: Parkinson's disease is one of the most common neurodegenerative disorders worldwide. In the course of the disease the impairments in motor function become increasingly visible. These impairments manifest themselves in the disturbance of gait pattern, associated with rising insecurity in walking, loss of balance and increased risk of falling. Objective: The aim of the present study is to identify assessments already assigned to ICF-categories, which prove to be practicable, valid, reliable, and responsive and which are best implemented in the therapy of patients with Parkinson's disease. They should enable an individual approach to the assessment of gait safety and risk of falling and increase the probability of therapy success. Research question: Which physiotherapeutic assessments can be recommended to evaluate gait safety and risk of falling in patients with Parkinson's disease at the activity and participation level? Search strategy: For systematic literature search, scientific literature from various libraries is used and in addition, scientific studies and specialist articles are researched with the help of Pubmed, PEDro and Google Scholar. Furthermore, the snowball method is used. Main results: In this thesis three assessments are examined. One questionnaire – the FES-I and two functional assessments – the BBS and the TUG. The reliability, validity and practicability of the considered assessments range from moderate to excellent. For responsiveness insufficient research results are available. Conclusion: Taking the defined selection criteria into account, the analyzed assessments – BBS, TUG, FES-I – cover a large part of the selected ICF-categories at the activity and participation level and thus provide a good insight into gait safety, balance situation and risk of falling of patients with Parkinson's disease. Based on the results of numerous studies, it is recommended to use several assessments to increase the probability of identifying a person who is at risk of falling.

Context: Stroke is considered the third leading cause of death in Austria after cardiovascular diseases and cancer and is the main cause of permanent disability. Every year, approximately 20 000 people in Austria suffer an ischemic stroke. Physiotherapists embedded in an interdisciplinary team play an important role in the aftercare to support patients in their mobility and locomotion function. Objective: The aim of this work is to determine assessments according to the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) to evaluate the mobility of stroke patients in the rehabilitation phase. The selected assessments should have more influence in their applicability in the physiotherapeutic everyday life. Research question: Which ICF-coded assessments can be used in physiotherapy for stroke patients in rehabilitation with regard to mobility and locomotion function? Search strategies: The systematic literature search was conducted in the libraries of the FH Campus Wien and the Medical University of Vienna as well as on the platforms PubMed, Pedro and Google Scholar. The search for German and English language studies was accompanied by the snowball method. Main results: The three selected assessments CMSA, TUG and RMI differ strongly in their implementation. The quality criteria of reliability, validity, responsiveness and practicability range from moderate to excellent. Conclusion: While the RMI and TUG tend to provide an overview, CMSA can be used to collect more detailed information regarding the functional mobility of patients. The use of the three assessments in physiotherapy is recommended in several studies for stroke patients with mild to moderate limitations of mobility and locomotor function.

In everyday classroom practice, knowledge acquired in university is seldom drawn upon, instead novice teachers refer to practical routines that are inscribed deeply after years of schooling. To counteract this, an intensive reflection on a meta-level about their orientations is necessary. In the present project, seminars on experiments focussing on the unity of theory and practice were conducted with students initially. Following, 25 group discussions were held within the framework of this study, which have been analysed using the documentary method. Four types of teacher training students were reconstructed: studies within the framework of (a) performance, (b) practical application, (c) experience, (d) insight.

Our world becomes faster, more flexible and more short-term due to the possibilities of mobile communication. This development raises the question of its impact on our social relationships as long-term constructs. The present work examines the consequences of the use of mobile communication and online-vigilance on the commitment, responsiveness and behavior in friendships. The theoretical basis of the study is the investment model of Rusbult (1983). Data collection was conducted by an online-survey and a convenience sample in March 2018. 677 users of mobile communication (68% female/ 32% male) from Germany, with an average age of 30, participated in the survey. To investigate the relationships, a structural equation model with latent variables was specified. In addition, mediation effects were examined for their significance. The results show that the use of mobile communication promotes commitment and responsiveness in friendships. Online-vigilance, which captures the cognitive focus on online content and communication, has both, positive and negative effects on the commitment. On the one hand, it leads to a decrease in satisfaction in friendships and, subsequently, to a lower level of commitment, on the other hand, it increases the perception of investment, which increases the commitment. A high level of online-vigilance is also attended by a greater degree of non-committal behavior.

This study deals with the question of the relation between a mother s responsiveness and the development of sympathy (empathy) as well as prosocial behavior in childhood starting from an attachment theoretical background. Altogether, 46 pairs of mothers and their daughters were examined cross-sectionally and longitudinally at two respectively three points of measurement. In order to assess mothers responsiveness, each mother-daughter pair participated in a videotaped interaction situation for about half an hour. Furthermore, each child was observed in a standardized interaction situation with respect to emotional and prosocial reactions. The results showed that for the 2-year old girls, the mothers responsiveness tended to be positively related to the prosocial behavior of the child and negatively related to the distress of the child. There were no significant results for the 3- and the 5-year old girls. The results for the longitudinal samples of the 5-year-olds clearly showed the positive influence of mothers responsiveness when the children were 2 years old on their socio-emotional development 3 years later. It is discussed whether specific experiences exert an influence only at specific times in development, and on specific psychological functions for a limited time
