The recall of memories of past events, experiences and emotions is a complex process. When experiencing traumatic events, as is the case with sexual violence, a host of additional complexities and difficulties arise. This becomes especially important in court cases which rely mostly or exclusively on the testimony of the victim, where the problem of the fallibility of memory takes center stage. Some research studies emphasize the possibility of inducing, altering or suppressing memories, especially in the context of psychotherapy. This has led to the unfortunate reality that the testimony of victims who have undergone psychotherapy is often considered to be unreliable. This in turn can lead to the impression that a decision has to be made between treatment of the adverse effects of traumatic events and maximizing the chances for a conviction of the perpetrator in court. This article introduces some central concepts of our current understanding of memory and gives an overview of the relevant scientific literature and debate. Following this, it examines the dilemma as it pertains to the different groups of all involved parties (i.e., victims, members of the judiciary and psychotherapists). Lastly, it proposes a framework of how to approach a solution to this problem by focusing on research in critical areas, expansion of therapy guidelines and documentation procedures as well as communication of these efforts to all parties involved. Dreams and temptations: Unveiling the journey to self-discovery This thesis documents the long-term psychoanalytic therapy of an adolescent patient who developed a severe depressive episode and post-traumatic stress disorder following a serious traumatic event - an abduction and experience of sexual violence. Over a period of several years, the therapeutic work is described, which not only addresses the patient's individual symptoms, but also sheds light on profound family dynamics and the development of the therapist's psychoanalytical identity. The therapy focused on processing the traumatic experience and aimed to create corrective relational experiences, strengthen self-representation and promote the ability to self-care and build supportive social relationships. Patients often present to emergency departments after potential or confirmed exposure to human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) asking for recommendations concerning the initiation of post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP). These presentations may occur after occupational as well as non-occupational exposure. PEP entails taking a triple antiretroviral therapy for 28–30 days. If taken early (ideally within 2 h, but no later than 72 h) and as indicated, HIV infection can be prevented with a high level of probability. Since these presentations occur around the clock, they require basic expertise on the part of the emergency department staff regarding its indication and its side effects as well as standardized procedures in the emergency department to not delay initiation. Patients should present to an infectious disease outpatient clinic or practice specialized in HIV in order to have the indication reviewed by a specialist and, if necessary, adapted to complex cases with the aim of making individual case decisions. This review article aims to summarize core statements of the 2022 German–Austrian guideline on HIV post-exposure prophylaxis and to give emergency department staff necessary knowledge to safely and correctly begin PEP. When counselling adolescents, empathy and age-appropriate information on medical confidentiality are important. Addressing individual needs and wishes enables the targeted use of the necessary information and resources and is the best guarantee for successful contraception over time. The goal is to make informed decisions and to have a positive experience of successfully protected sexual and reproductive health. The range of suitable contraceptive options is very broad. To make the most of this potential, all methods should be addressed with their advantages and disadvantages, including information on sexually transmitted infections and protection against them. Concerns and questions should be answered comprehensively and openly, and the experiences with sexuality described should be approached without prejudice. During the Asia Pacifi c War (1937-1945), the Japanese Imperial Army forced women in Japanese East Asian colonies to work as so-called “comfort women” (sex workers). The justice movement for these women is an international intersectional alliance of feminists from Japanese ex-colonies in East Asia, the former colonial power Japan, and other societies, such as Australia, Germany, and the USA. This long-term feminist justice movement has campaigned for an apology and compensation from the Japanese government, as well as for recognition of “comfort women‘s” suff ering and of sexual violence in war in cultural memory. Through researching this justice movement from a processual intersectionality perspective, this paper shows that it gained power and legitimacy from refl ecting and working on its internal intersectional inequalities. This included refl ecting on the class hierarchies between many former “comfort women”, who had power of defi nition, and intellectual feminist activists, as well as on the postcolonial divide between former Japanese colonies and the former colonial power Japan, leading it to develop horizontal cooperation and practices. Following an overview, the paper outlines the movements in South Korea, Japan, and Germany, and highlights the different postcolonial constellation between East Asia and Germany, the main actors, and their aims. While the Japanese government rejected the justice movement‘s demands and the right wing mobilised against it, has been able to infl uence cultural memory to widely recognize sexual violence in war and the dignity of the “comfort women”. The author of this article explores the question, what is human trafficking. In order to answer this question, definitions of human trafficking are examined, as well as the causes, types of trafficking, recruitment strategies, and the significant problems in conquering human trafficking internationally. Trafficking in human beings affects all regions and most countries of the world. According to official data, Bosnia and Herzegovina is a transit country, but certain reports indicate that it is becoming a country of origin and destination. In order to exemplify the issue of human trafficking on the concrete case study, there is further exploration of how the law of Bosnia and Herzegovina defines it, and how approachs to this problem. Taking into account the increase of human trafficking in the world, especially among countries in transition, it is extremely important to find effective solutions for the prevention of such cross-border criminal activity.

The article deals with the (quality) standards in dealing with violence and sexual delinquency in the field of probation assistance. It is stated that there is an inconsistent and highly heterogeneous quality that is not sufficiently based on scientific knowledge. The requirements and necessities resulting from this are discussed. The investigation is based on various standards of probation assistance in different federal states, including Saarland, Baden-Württemberg, and North Rhine-Westphalia. The author looks back over 30 years of treating, evaluating, and consulting on over 300 cases of sexual boundary violations. He describes how his previous optimism about the potential to prevent such transgressions has given way to a pessimistic view in light of the pervasive self-deception of analysts and therapists. “…the Maid was Sent Away Before She Had Given Birth.“ Narratives about Maids in Divorce Records Between 1800 and 1867. Divorce files not only document the negotiation of conflicts between two spouses. They also provide insights into the (often precarious) working conditions of marginalized persons, such as servants. This article examines divorce files from 1800 until 1867 with a special focus on the narratives they contain about maids. The first part of the article addresses the issue of sexual violence against maids. The second and the third part question what consequences sexual intercourse with the masters and a potential pregnancy could have for the maids according to labour law and criminal law. The article describes the prevention project "Kein Täter werden" (Don't become an offender) in Gießen, which deals with the consumption of abusive images. The project was launched in 2005 to support people with pedophilic preference disorder and prevent the consumption of abusive images as well as sexual assaults. There are a total of 14 project locations in Germany and an online self-help service called "Troubled Desire". Background Family physicians' offices can be an important low-threshold point of contact for victims of violence against women and girls. To this end, it is important that the willingness to support and counsel victims is signaled, for example, by information materials on display. Search methods This article is based on various articles in the family medicine online manual Deximed (www.deximed.de): e.g., "Violence against Women and Girls" and "Sexualized Violence". The Deximed articles were prepared with consideration of sources identified in selective literature searches. Key messages Gender-based violence is any form of violence that is either directed at women or disproportionately affects women. This includes economic, psychological, and digital violence in addition to physical and sexual violence. The most common is domestic violence. 40 % of women and girls in Germany have experienced physical or sexual violence in their lifetime. Gender-based violence can lead to a wide variety of symptoms, findings and sequelae, such as depression, genital injuries, bone fractures of different ages, burns, hematomas, but also non-specific complaints. During the examination in the practice, it is important to document findings in a court-proof manner. Affected persons who need counseling by a counseling center, a forensic medical examination, or gynecological care should be supported in further care. Conclusions Family practices should be well prepared to provide care and counseling to victims of gender-based violence.
