- Abstract
Introduction: The coronavirus pandemic has focused attention on the importance of critical care and highlighted the shortage of critical care specialists. Due to increasing workloads and high mortality rates, healthcare professionals were exposed to higher levels of physical and psychological stress during the pandemic than before., Objective: Our study investigated the effects of the coronavirus outbreak on the emotional, mental and moral stress of intensive care professionals., Method: Our workgroup performed paper-based surveys among caregivers in the Department of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Therapy at Semmelweis University. The first survey was conducted at the start of the pandemic in 2020, the second survey was conducted after the third wave in 2021. We applied validated questionnaires (Professional Quality of Life, Demoralization Scale, Perceived Stress Scale, Impact of Event Scale, and Posttraumatic Growth Inventory), collected demographic data and information on lifestyle, recreation, dietary habits, and accepting psychological support., Results: The number and demographic characteristics of the participants in the two studies are different, reflecting the changes in the workforce during the pandemic. Our results revealed no differences between the working and socio-demographic groups before the outbreak, however, one year later, nurses scored significantly higher on all negative psychological scales compared to other groups. Only a minority of the respondents had sought psychological support (9.5-12.7%), although more than a third of respondents reported the need for psychological support. Employees in new work positions showed significantly increased posttraumatic growth (2.91 ± 0.82 vs. 2.20 ± 1.06, p = 0.016)., Discussion: These findings demonstrate that nurses are the most strained workgroup during an uncertain and stressful period. The available mental support alone is not enough to help caregivers., Conclusion: Further steps are needed to improve the mental health of critical care workers. Orv Hetil. 2023; 164(42): 1646-1655.

MENTAL illness , *PSYCHOLOGICAL typologies , *MENTAL health , *RESOURCE allocation , *MENTAL depression - Abstract
Literature on mental health often refers to poverty and deprivation as main sources of different types of mental health problems. In this paper I examine the relationship between depression, a common mental health problem and income deprivation, as well as further control variables while assuming the existence of underlying neighboring effects that shape the depression levels in certain regions of Scotland. Based on the spatial models created within the scope of this paper we can conclude that growing income deprivation within a region causes the level of depression to rise, too. Moreover, the said growth triggers a multiplier effect as well since the depression levels of neighboring regions grow accordingly. The paper concludes that resource allocation strategies should take these effects into consideration, too, when targeting certain regions in order to enhance the efficiency of regional support policies. - Abstract
The provision and coordination of good quality care in mental health represents a major challenge worldwide. The direct and indirect costs of psychiatric disorders, including costs due to substance use disorders are very high in the countries of the European Union. The prevalence of both mental disorders and substance use disorders is significant in Hungary. Leaders of the psychiatric profession joined forces and assembled a complex plan for the development of mental health care in Hungary. The National Programme of Mental Health represents both challenges and opportunities for this area. The main objective is a stepped care and collaborative care model for individuals with psychiatric disorders that incorporates the primary care system (general practitioners) and the community psychiatry providers. Primary care needs to develop competence to identify and treat people with common mental disorders, supported by a new care model of clinical psychologist counseling services. The tasks of these psychologists include screening (assessment interviews), giving information, leading patients to the optimal therapeutic pathways, psychoeducation and low-intensity psychological interventions. The psychologist represents a bridge between the family doctor and psychiatric care. The programme aims to shift mental health services from hospitals to community mental health facilities services. However there is a parallel organization of health and social care systems in Hungary that inhibits the complex care of patients. It is necessary to develop a closer coordination (or collaboration) of out-patient psychiatric care and the community-based services, to provide more and better facilities for reintegration of patients. Continuity of care can beestablished by psychiatrists being responsible for treatment plans and pathways, including the frequency of follow-up visits or the need for transferring patients to family doctors or to psychiatric hospitals. In some areas there is an important need for the development of specialized teams or units (for example crisis intervention service, forensic psychiatric unit, mother-child unit, psychiatric emergency rooms, high security wards). Human resources represent a major problem, the numbers of psychiatric nurses and psychiatrists are insufficient. The dysfunctional distribution of human resources leads to the deterioration of services. This is principally financial question. In the future the psychiatry should take advantage of the possibilities offered by digital technology. In this paper we present the main elements of the National Programme of Mental Health. We hope that the programme can be realized in the coming years with financial support of the Hungarian Government.

- Abstract
The Hungarian health care system faces new challenges with the unprecedented increased rate of migration. Asylum-seekers arriving are a heterogeneous group. Their health care needs vary depending on their country of origin and the quality of the health care they received prior to arrival, not to mention the impact of the migration process on their health. Described within this paper are the challenges an asylum seeker might face in obtaining care on arrival into the host country and the challenges clinicians face in providing that care. This review is designed to give health professionals the necessary knowledge to care for asylum-seekers in a culturally aware and clinically informed manner.

- Abstract
In this paper the findings of a study designed to assess whether nuns serving as nurses and having definite religious persuasions feel the same degree of burnout in their service of helping patients as non-religious nurses are presented. For this purpose two questionnaires were used, namely the Post-Critical Belief Scale and the Maslach Burnout Inventory. Subjects of the study had been working as a nurse for at least 5 years and 188 such subjects were enrolled. The causative factors behind burnout were studied. Only women were included in the study. Statistical analysis has surprisingly shown that the extent of burnout did not increase in direct proportion with the years spent at work and burnout as a dependent variable could be explained by age only to a minimal extent. After this, the influence of another factor, i.e. religious belief, on burnout was studied. However, religious belief cannot be described and quantified with a single numerical value; therefore, three aspects were measured. These aspects included the self-rated degree of religious belief, attendance at religious services and the "Post-Critical Belief Scale". The values based on these aspects showed a linear relationship and were indirectly proportional with burnout. Consequently, religious belief can be regarded as a protective factor against burnout in the present sample. In addition, the extent of burnout was found to be the lowest in the community of nuns living in a religious order, it was higher among nurses working at religious institutions and it was the highest among nurses working at state hospitals. Thus, religious belief has a decisive role in avoiding a burnout.

AIR traffic control , *MENTAL health , *MINDFULNESS , *DEFINITIONS , *NUMBER theory - Abstract
Mindfulness is about the quality of attention and awareness focusing on the present moment, which can be practiced through meditation. However, it is more than just a tool, it is a style of life. We do not find a unified definition neither in the literature of organization studies but the number of papers discussing individual and organizational level benefits are growing. These benefits can be a healthier coping with stress or higher quality of organizational attention which is crucial when you examine processes of high reliability organizations (e.g. air traffic control). The goal of the article is to introduce the notion of mindfulness and to have an insight into the organizational related literature in a way that serves understanding. This results in revealing some important experience, main points and questions in the literature, for example the danger of neglecting eastern tradition using mindfulness in a western way. The article also identifies some further research fields. In the fast-changing environment, the importance of the role of mindfulness on the organizational level is proved by its capability to promote physical and mental health, and the need of development of resilience and attention for both employees and leaders, and the benefits revealed of it. IMAGE of God ,SELF-perception ,GOD ,EXODUS, The ,PERSONALITY - Abstract
God said to Moses, "I am who I am" (Exodus 3,14). Although Christian churches seek to present the New Testaments' image of God, the loving, caring, and merciful God, yet the idea of a punitive, strict, and fearsome God lives stronger in many. Our image of God not only determines the nature of our relationship with God, but it also influences our personality, actions, self-concept, mindset, and social relations. It acts within and through us. Although everyone has an image of God - regardless of whether one is a believer or not -, how we experience God's relation to us is manifold. But why do we experience God's relationship with us in so many ways? What circumstances shape and influence our image of God? It is not unusual that even believers of the same congregation give accounts of diverse images of God. Why? These questions are answered by calling upon psychological insights. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
