- Abstract
Introduction: In Indonesia in 2023, the prevalence of anemia among teenagers will be 22.6%, which has previously experienced a less significant decline from 25.1% in 2021. Teenagers are an age that is vulnerable to the incidence of anemia because at this age teenagers experience Rapid growth that requires adequate nutritional adequacy. Dietary factors, limited access to health services, lack of health facilities and routine check-ups, and lack of health education in the community are factors causing the high prevalence of anemia among teenagers, so KKN students in Kedungwaduk Village organize education and anemia detection activities in early teens. Methods: This activity was held from 22-26 July 2024 at SDN 1, 2, 3, and 4 Kedungwaduk targeting students in grades 4, 5, and 6. A pre-test was carried out to measure the level of students' knowledge regarding anemia which was then continued with anemia education and post-test. After that, anemia is detected by measuring height, weight, and mid-upper arm circumference, checking hemoglobin, and closing by administering blood supplement tablets. Results and discussions: A total of 167 students participated, with 78 young women and 89 young men. 80.3% of students had low results on the pre-test with an average of 45.55 which increased to 74.37 on the post-test. From anemia detection, it was found that 21 of the 78 young women participating in the socialization had anemia. Conclusion: Providing anemia prevention education was well received as evidenced by the enthusiasm of the socialization participants and an increase in knowledge among the socialization participants. The young female participants also took blood supplement tablets which were distributed enthusiastically. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
