The article proposes a reflection on two concepts, related to the theme of sustainability. The first is scarcity, the latter is sovereignty. The article considers the institution of the scarcity on a social level. In this perspective, scarcity is a set of goods and resources insufficient to satisfy the needs of all people. The paper emphasizes not only a natural dimension linked to human needs, but also a social dimension: the conditions for the institution of scarcity are not only economic, but related to power and interest to manage a resource. In this sense, scarcity is not just a natural fact. The idea of scarcity is socially established and the social institution of scarcity is a means of controlling the conflict. Secondly, the paper proposes the Bataillean concept of dépense, which includes not only the excessive consumption, but also the dimensions of luxury, of play, of art, of the sacred. In such dimensions, time and resources are not destined to a profit, but are an end in themselves, in a non-utilitarian way. The dépense implies sovereign attitudes and behaviours of people over things, thanks to a way of consuming goods according to a non-servile logic. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

WOMEN in war ,PEACEBUILDING ,VIOLENCE against women ,CONFLICT management ,SEXUAL assault ,WOMEN'S rights - Abstract
The Women, Peace and Security ("WPS") agenda was formally initiated by the landmark UN Security Council Resolution 1325 (2000), which was adopted on 31 October 2000. UNSCR 1325 affirmed the important role of women in the prevention and resolution of conflicts and in peace-building initiatives. The WPS agenda rests on four pillars: prevention, participation, protection and relief and recovery. In the years since the adoption of UNSCR 1325, the UN Security Council has adopted nine more resolutions on women, peace and security, in order to provide a detailed guidance on specific aspects related to war and its impact on women, addressing different issues such as sexual and gender-based violence, human trafficking and the gendered aspects of peacekeeping efforts. The aim of this paper is thus to scrutinize the different status of women in the contest of conflicts: as victims and as active actors in peace processes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper is an effort in reviewing and assembling the research findings of different researchers on the factors that cause conflicts in schools and the strategies adopted by schools for conflict resolution. The research is limited to certain databases only. The basis for selecting relevant literature for this study is their accessibility, language (English) and relevancy to the topic and only those research papers that highlight teacher-teacher conflicts and teacher-administration conflicts have been selected. The several factors that emerged from the study were classified as Structural and Personal factors only. The originality of this paper rests in an attempt to attract the attention of the research community towards the factors that lead to conflicts in schools and an insight into the strategies used by the school administration to resolve them. This study also recommends that school administrators be trained to identify at least some factors responsible for conflicts among their staff, even among the students of the school so that they can resolve it in a better way.

This paper, inspired by and devoted to the analyses of Erving Goffman's work, is basically an account of the concept of presence as the result of co-presence among human beings. Although both phenomenologicaly and etologicaly human presence is connected to embodiment, our presence becomes effective only when we present ourselves to others within a socially sanctioned scheme, as proved by the circumstance that when our presence as human and social beings Is not ritualy honoured (as in total institutions), it literally disvanishes. Hence the need to study of the modes of re-presentation which enable us to be recognized as (appropriately) present. The main hypothesis is that in all face to face encounters agents emit signs or identity goods which can be used by the receiver as a symbolic and emotional resources to confirm or recompense his or her presence. The paper ends by shortly analysing on-line presence, a case of interaction without physical proximity and without the mediation of the body. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The hypothesis formulated in this paper concerns the possibility that the intra-generational violence has taken the place of the inter-generational conflict among young and adults In other words, the violence is not a mode of interpersonal behavior, but the substrate, the basis on which articulates a complex set of interdependencies and cross-actions and reactions between peers. It therefore follows a pattern of deviant cohesion, which allows us to state that: 1. the violence erupts without conflict or after excluding any possibility of conflict and subsequent mediation and negotiation among the actors are involved in the relation indeed; 2. the violence has become the only glue between guys who voluntarily assume the role of perpetrators, victims and spectators, when any other possible communication strategies, conducted for the mutual recognition of their identity are failed. This study examined differences in conflict management-related perceptions and behaviors as a function of Gold’s (1989) adult sibling types. Participants were 157 adults who reported on their relationship with a sibling by completing a series of self-report measures about themselves and the sibling administered in paper-and-pencil format. Results revealed that adult siblings who classified their relationship as intimate perceived more positive sibling interpersonal power and parallel sibling influence, and were more likely to use prosocial conflict tactics with their sibling during conflicts. Conversely, adult siblings who characterized their relationship as apathetic/hostile were more likely to desire differentiation and to use dysfunctional conflict tactics during conflict with their sibling. In addition, across sibling types, perceptions of siblings’ power and influence predicted conflict tactic usage. This investigation extends available research by demonstrating destructive outcomes associated with the apathetic/hostile adult sibling type (e.g., increased use of violence as a conflict tactic). Further, across adult sibling types, this study provides insight into why emerging adult siblings use both constructive and destructive tactics during conflict with each other.
