Aim: The study aimed to inquire place attachment bonds in a sample of psychiatric patient hosted in Residential Mental Health Facilities of Palermo. Satisfaction for current accommodation in the Facility, reasons for place preference and housing perspectives were explored. Methods: A questionnaire consisting in 31 open questions was administered to 39 subjects living in three Residential Mental Health Facilities of Health Department of Palermo. Results: Own room and terraces with plats are the patients' favourite places in the Facilities. During the first month of stay, these places satisfy need for retirement and distraction, while in the following period they become spaces where meet people and join interests and activities. Among places associated with negative emotions, corridors, stairs, infirmary and toilet were reported. Also places and furniture coming from the previous Psychiatric Hospital (windows with grating, long corridors, gates) are source of anxiety. About half of the subjects are satisfied by their accommodation in a multiple room with 2 or 3 people, while others would prefer either a single room or different room-mate. The majority of the patients wish they come back to their family's house, or their district, either for restoring familiar and affective bonds, or for experiencing new working and social roles. Furthermore, many of them long for a life with other people. Conclusions: A good relationship with place of care is a relevant aspect of psychiatric residential program. Place attachments change during the time, suggesting also transformations of self-concept and interpersonal relationship. Residential Mental Health Facility could be represented as “transitory accommodation” that hold patients' need and difficulties, letting people plan a possible future.

La ricerca si propone di valutare l'andamento della qualità della vita e l'evoluzione dei sintomi depressivi durante la gravidanza, utilizzando appositi strumenti psicometrici somministrati a un campione di 90 donne, durante i tre trimestri di gravidanza. Particolarmente interessante si è rivelata l'analisi longitudinale della tonalità depressiva: il trend sembra decrescere nell'ultimo trimestre, parallelamente all'aumento dello stato di salute mentale. Nel post-partum si evidenzierebbe un incremento della tonalità depressiva e un miglioramento della componenete fisica della slaute, a sfavore della componente mentale. Nel complesso i datiemersi dall'evoluzione dei sintomi depressivi sono in sintonia con quelli presentati in letteratura, sembrerebbero confermare la nostra ipotesi riguardo la necessità di attuare modelli di prevenzione che mirino a tutelare la salute fisica della donna in gravidanza e a garantirle una buona assistenza psicologica.

La dipendenza sessuale comprende un insieme di condizioni psicopatologiche caratterizzate da pensieri e fantasie sessuali intrusive associate a perdita di controllo sui comportamenti sessuali. Un crescente interesse è stato rivolto a questa condizione, ancora non riconosciuta dai sistemi nosografici ufficiali e descritta ora come “compulsività sessuale”, ora come “impulsività sessuale”, ora come “dipendenza sessuale”. Interessando una percentuale compresa tra il 3 ed il 6% della popolazione generale, la dipendenza sessuale comporta spesso gravi conseguenze di natura relazionale, lavorativa, economica e legale con un grado variabile di disabilità. Diversi modelli sono stati proposti per spiegare l’eziopatogenesi dei comportamenti sessuali additivi. È stata dimostrata l’efficacia di programmi di trattamento integrato che includono la terapia farmacologica, la psicoterapia individuale e di gruppo. Ulteriori studi sono necessari per meglio definire i criteri diagnostici, i fattori di rischio e gli strumenti di valutazione della dipendenza sessuale.

The defensive system of the Amalfi Coast represents a testimony of our past, to be known, preserved and protected, a heritage to be treasured and passed on. Despite the great importance and value, some towers have been abandoned because over the years becoming unfit for the use and obsolete. The role of virtual reconstruction, in this regard, is particularly important because it supports the valorization of the heritage, the knowledge of the territory and the dissemination of the culture of our country. The contribution is a part of a wider study aimed at the divulgation of the defensive system of the Amalfi Coast. The paper focuses on a tower named Torre della Punta di Fuenti (di Fuonti or Santa Maria della Catena); unfortunately lost today, which was in the province of Salerno. The study aims at retracing some important phases of the tower, and at showing, even if virtually, the transformations undergone by the building over time.

The reconstruction of gone, or never built buildings has ever been one of the preferred subjects of digital representation. Many researches have focused the reconstruction of buildings that were modified by human actions, as wars or demolitions, or by natural causes as earthquakes or decay. Many buildings, destroyed or reshaped from the second half of the 19th century have been photographed before they vanished; when no drawing or document are available, the memory of the architecture layout of these buildings is entrusted to few period photos. Digital representation makes the reconstruction of gone buildings from period photos possible. Descriptive Geometry provides the conceptual and operational tool needed for such purpose: perspective restitution. In the pre-digital era perspective restitution has been rarely used for the reconstruction of gone buildings, due to the relevant approximations caused by the implicit features of traditional drawing tools. Digital representation tools overcome most of these limitations and allows the direct restitution of 3D models from a single image. Perspective restitution is an effective tool for the reconstruction of urban sites as well, since it allows the integration of photos and maps. In the reconstruction of urban sites, gone buildings can be scaled using survived buildings as a reference.

Digital technologies for architecture representation have strongly modified uses and rules inherited from a millennial tradition. In the initial development period CAD tools worked as electronic drafting machines and digital drawings were almost similar to hand-made drawings; plans, fronts, sections and the like. In this period perspective and axonometric drawings were rarely executed because architects realized that these drawings had to be substituted by 3D digital models views, but modeling tools were not so familiar to professionals, both for software and hardware limitations. The evolution of architecture digital representation is still in progress, but it is possible to outline a precise direction that moves towards the death of drawing; the task of visualization of buildings and architecture design will be accomplished by 3D digital models. Digital representations of complex architecture scenarios have been successfully performed for entertainment purposes by the film industry; the settings of outstanding movies as Gladiator and Troy are the result of sophisticated 3D reconstructions. Virtual reconstructions have been widely used to enrich the experience of visit of archaeological sites in the past two decades.

Today’s appearance of the church of Maria Santissima la Croce in Regalbuto is the result of interventions carried out during the last 300 years. The 19th century’s plaster decorations of the interiors hide the original structure of the 16th-century church. One of the “antiquities remainings” survived on the red carved stone arch upon the main apse. The study reveals that the model of the façade, completed in 1774, is the arch of Triumph for Porta dei Greci in Palermo, designed in 1735 by Nicolò Palma and known today thanks to an engraving by Antonino Bova. A document in the archive of the church of San Basilio demonstrates the process of the side façade design, which required reinforcement at the beginning of the 19th century. The graphic renditions show that the previous version of the project presented arches that would have shaped the sidewall, which is now scanned by square Tuscan columns.

The contribution presented here is part of a work-in-progress project, which has as its focus the “extra-moenia” urban transformations suffered by the city of Palermo after World War II, with the aim of cataloging, reconstructing and restoring the remarkable heritage -lost in the years of the economic boom and building speculation- in three-dimensional virtual images. The analysis is part of the urban context affected by the extension of via Libertà starting from the intersection with via Notarbartolo, the transversal directional axis conceived in the Giarrusso Plan of 1887 as a connection to the Shipyards and built starting from the subdivisions of Villa Carini in the years 1891-1902. This, constituting the natural continuation of an urban project begun with the subdivisions of the first section of via Libertà and substantially centered on the idea of a garden-district, has unfortunately seen its original structure modified and upset in the image of a modern residential "city" , losing the balance of the original design.

L’utilizzo di modelli come sistema di rappresentazione dell’architettura ha da sempre costituito un ruolo significativo nella costruzione del progetto. Nel tempo la maquette è stata sostituita, ma non sempre, da modelli virtuali tridimensionali sempre più sofisticati grazie alla costante evoluzione della tecnologia informatica. Il loro uso è necessario non solo per la definizione di un progetto, ma per la conoscenza di architetture rimaste sulla carta o di edifici demoliti o distrutti poiché permettono di studiarli, conoscerli ed apprezzarli in maniera più approfondita. Questo lavoro si pone come obiettivo la realizzazione di un modello tridimensionale per consentire una migliore comprensione di Villa Lanza di Deliella, una delle opere più simboliche del Liberty palermitano, un’elegante palazzina progettata da Ernesto Basile e costruita tra il 1905 e il 1909. We are in the era of handheld devices and tablet computers, of LEDs and multi-touch systems, the triumph of information technology. The challenge is to make the virtual interactive to achieve total immersion in augmented real scenes. Stereoscopic displays now allow real-time explorations of architectural scenes, useful for showing additional elements of real scenes, allowing the enhancement and use of the represented assets. In an attempt to propose an applicative research of these technologies, it has been tried to experiment it on a narrow field of investigation.The House was a symbolic work of Liberty in Palermo, designed by the famous architect Ernesto Basile and located in Piazza Croci until the end of the 1950s. It was one of the most suggestive corners of via Libertà; it was destroyed during the 1960s, due to the provision of a master plan that would have allowed, the intensive use of the area. The reconstruction of a three-dimensional virtual model and the use of augmented reality will allow tourists or anyone who wants to get to know an architecture that no longer exists and a glimpse of the city of the past.

Il contributo analizza la conformazione settecentesca del campanile della cattedrale di Palermo, nota attraverso documenti e sintetiche descrizioni, ma soprattutto grazie all'iconografia storica. La cella campanaria e la relativa terminazione a bulbo, nonché un recinto architettonico che alloggiava le campane minori, realizzati su progetto dell'architetto Giovanni Amico tra 1726 e 1729 (rimpiazzati da nuove strutture in forme neogotiche nel secondo quarto del XIX secolo), sono l'oggetto di una lettura critica che ha portato all'elaborazione di una ricostruzione virtuale attraverso un modello 3D.
