A recently published anthology, dedicated to the Transylvanian School, allows for a new assessment of the role the well-known cultural, political and linguistic movement played in the creation process of Romanian modern culture. The chrestomathy also offers the possibility of a documented correlation between the ideas formulated by the Transylvanian Latinists and the principles which Ion Heliade Rădulescu included in the programme of implementation of unique supradialectal norms in literary Romanian writing of the 19th century.

Hronicul vechimei a romano-moldo-vlahilor, the first treatise on history written in Romanian, abounds with neologisms of Latin origin, which also represent, more often than not, first attestations in the Romanian literature. Undoubtedly, the occurrence of such words (and, due to the specific socio-cultural background of the epoch, of Greco-Latin origin) in Dimitrie Cantemir’s workmay be properly explained by his knowledge and linguistic refinement. However, one should take into consideration, as an equally appropriate motivation, his intention to modernize the vocabulary of the old Romanian language.

In the second half of the nineteenth century, the Romanian literary language lexicon, illustrated by literary and scientific texts, periodicals, manuals, underwent a process of renewal through an extensive acceptance of neologisms, in the awaited correlation with the overall modernization of culture. Dicţionarul limbei române, an academic project, printed between 1871 and 1877, tries to impose an ideal norm, that aimed, consistent with a certain linguistic conception, at preserving and enriching the native Latin vocabulary, by selecting certain loans and lexical creations, concurrently with the exclusion of variants (phonetic, morphological or lexical variants) that conflicted with the „spirit” of the Romanian language.

Latin Romance modernization of the Romanian literary vocabulary was attained, at the end of the 18th century, primarily by lexical borrowing and by calque. The documents also indicate an inherent component of the process, several authors arguing, sometimes in theoretical writings, for the formation of neologisms through derivation from the “root words”, basic vocabulary lexemes inherited from Latin.

Old Romanian writing was dominated by textual models and patterns assimilated by way of influences or the exclusive mediation of Slavonic. Two linguistic writings, Dictionarium Valachico - L atinum (Caransebeş, about 1650), the first original dictionary based on the Romanian language, and Institutiones linguae Valachicae (Crişana, about 1770), the first grammar of the Romanian language written in Latin, attest to the explicit use of a Latin mo del in an age in which the whole of our culture was still strongly influenced by Slavonic models.

The present research aims to establish and configurate human resources development strategies for the employees of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that activate in the tourism field of activity (hotels and other accomodation establishments, restaurants, passenger trasnport, travel agencies, cultural turism agencies). As knowledge role in the contemporany economy is increasing and defining the economical and social context as knowledge-based ones, we shall consider the research frame as the knowledge-based economy. Moreover, in order to better highlight weaknesses and strenghts of the human resources management approaches and to define recommendations, our research theme is developped as comparative study: similarities and differences within SMEs human resources management practices in Romania and other European Union's country members (the example of Spain was considered).

My essay illustrates some key trends in recent Rumanian Literature, and in particular, over the last fifteen years. The analysis will also consider those works that have been published in the EU and the US, both in Rumanian and German, as well as in English.

Évoquer la personnalité de Moses Gaster, 165 ans après sa naissance, témoigne sans aucun doute de la validité d’une œuvre bâtie avec ténacité et rigueur scientifique, sur la base d’une très bonne formation philologique. Et son ouvrage Chrestomatia română, rédigé il y a 130 ans afin d’obtenir « une histoire complète du développement progressif de la langue roumaine » jusqu’à la fin du XIXème siècle, demeure un repère incontournable, de référence, obligatoire et entièrement valide, dans le domaine des recherches consacrées aux écrits roumains anciens.

During the 18th century, numerous Neo-Greek fiction texts, but also an increased number of texts of Italian, French or Spanish literatures were translated into Romanian by secular scholars, and often by clerics influenced by the Enlightenment. These translations, generally not part of a program, simply illustrating the intellectual disposition of the scholars of that time, renewed the Romanian fictional writing thematically and rhetorically, setting the stage for the profound changes that will appear in the first decades of the 19th century.

The study reviews the issues raised by the investigation and reevaluation of old Romanian literature during a time of pronounced and noticeable crisis of humanistic research and outlines the objectives for the Romanian philologic research.

Small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) are the most dynamic and vital factor of progress in the contemporary society, main generator of economic performance and substance in any country, employment opportunity provider for most of population, major contributor to the national budget, and engine to improve the living standard of the population. SMEs represent 99% from all enterprises, drawing up the main human resource agglomeration. In Romania and other countries from The European Union, SMEs play an essential role in economic life, having special features that make adaptation process to the knowledge-based economy easier. In a knowledge-based economy context, SMEs should act as learning entities, by developing the most important resources they own: the human resources.

The expansion of the world trade, the unprecedented opening of the national markets, the regional integration and the consistency of globalization represent challenges having in view the management of the internal balances between cashing ins and payments
