INTRODUCTION:In literature it is reported that accurate nursing documentation improves patients’ outcomesbut nursing planning data is seldom available. The accuracy of nursing documentation in hospitals has beenassessed in many healthcare settings through the detection of three key elements of nursing decision-making:diagnoses, interventions and outcomes. However, studies conducted in Italy are scant and none of them havebeen conducted in Lombardy Region.AIM: the aim of this study is to assess the accuracy of nursing documentation in six hospitals. Accuracy indocumentation’s compilation was sought, as well as the three essential elements expected in the nursing deci-sion-making process: diagnoses, interventions and outcomes.METHOD: a multicentre retrospective observational study was conducted on a sample of 430 computerizedand paper-based nursing records in surgical and medical areas. D-Catch instrument was used to evaluatedocumentation’s accuracy. This instrument is divided into six sections, with scores ranging from one to four:a higher score corresponds to a greater accuracy of the documentation. The six sections assess whether thedocumentation structure and the assessment are accurate, the presence of a nursing diagnosis, the accuracyof interventions and assessments and documentation’s clarity and legibility. RESULTS: it emerged that in the six hospitals there is a structured and personalized nursing documentation.From the 430 nursing documentations, a total of 623 nursing diagnoses were observed. Diagnoses reachedan average score of 2.5, with significant differences between surgical and medical areas and between comput-erized and paper documentations. Interventions also showed significant differences between surgical andmedical areas, and between computerized and paper documentation, with an average score of 2.04. Theoutcomes received the lowest scores with an average of 1.75.CONCLUSIONS: the specific nursing data that would make the care process evident are hardly visible and,despite the nursing records of the six hospitals being oriented by a conceptual model, there is no shared termi-nology that helps nurses to describe univocally the care process. The introduction of a standardized nursinglanguage and an integrated computerized medical record could help to improve the accuracy of the docu-mentation.

La violenza verso gli infermieri è un evento presente sul territorio italiano di cui mancano statistiche sulla diffusione. Scopo: Indagare la prevalenza della violenza verso gli infermieri in un’azienda ospedaliera del nord Italia. Metodo: Studio osservazionale trasversale. I dati sono stati rilevati in forma anonima con il “Questionario su episodi di aggressione nella sede di lavoro” sviluppato da Zampieron et al. (2010) su un campione stratificato di 198 infermieri operanti in un Ospedale lombardo. Risultati: Il 43% del campione (n=85 su 198 intervistati) dichiara di aver subito aggressioni, con una media di 4 aggressioni a testa, nei 12 mesi precedenti lo studio. Gli aggressori sono soprattutto pazienti (53,5%) o parenti (26,7%), uomini (63,1%) di età compresa tra 36 e 50 anni (27,9%). Tra le aggressioni verbali una su quattro sono agite da colleghi o superiori. Le conseguenze emotive, fisiche e professionali dichiarate sono gravi e prodotte sia da aggressioni fisiche che verbali. Ciononostante, tra le persone che hanno subito aggressioni, il 57% non ha chiesto aiuto e, tra coloro che lo hanno richiesto (43,0%), circa il 75% ha cercato supporto ed aiuto da parte di un collega. Conclusioni: Questo studio conferma che la violenza verso gli infermieri è presente anche nella forma orizzontale tra professionisti. É importante negli ambienti di lavoro assumere comportamenti di valutazione, prevenzione del rischio e gestione attraverso il training del personale, il supporto delle vittime di violenza ed un sistema di denuncia formale anonimo sostenuto dalle istituzioni Violence towards nurses is a widespread phenomenon in Italy about which statistics are lacking. Aim: To investigate the prevalence of violence towards nurses in a health care structure in the north of Italy. Method: An observational cross-sectional study. Data were collected anonymously with a questionnaire developed by Zampieron et al. (2010) on a stratified sample of 198 nurses working in a major Italian Hospital in the Lombardy Region. Results: 43% of the sample (n=85/198) experienced violence in the previous twelve months with a mean of 4 aggressions each. Aggressors were mainly patients (53.3%) or relatives (26.7%), men (63.1%) aged between 36 and 50 years (27.9%). Of the verbal aggressions, one out of four was by a colleague or a superior. The emotional, physical and professional consequences were serious and the result of both physical and verbal violence. Nevertheless, among those who experienced aggressions, 57% did not ask for help and of those who did (43.0%) about 75% asked for help and support from their colleagues. Conclusions: Violence toward nurses exists and it is commonplace in the workplaces studied, even in the horizontal form. It is important to implement assessment and risk prevention and management measures, via specific training of nurses, and offer support for the victims and an anonymous formal report system guaranteed by the authorities.

Nell’ambito del Progetto Storie dal mare (Università di Trieste- Soprintendenza per i Beni Archeologici del Friuli Venezia Giulia), è stato condotto un programma di ricerche nella Laguna di Marano (Ud); ubicata in corrispondenza dello sbocco a mare di alcuni dei principali corsi d’acqua anticamente navigabili, l’area lagunare e perilagunare fu interessata nelle varie epoche da un’intensa antropizzazione - già dal Neolitico - e da un rilevante ruolo commerciale connesso con lo sfruttamento delle vie d’acqua fluviali, evidente soprattutto in età romana. Dopo le ricerche preliminari si sono avviate indagini in vari siti della laguna oggi sommersi o semisommersi; le attività subacquee hanno interessato l’insediamento sull’isola di Bioni, le strutture presso l’isola di S. Andrea, un vano con pavimentazione musiva documentato a Piere d’Isela, i resti di Piere del Ficariol, l’eccezionale complesso edilizio a Piere del Tribel, con vari ambienti, forse destinati anche all’immagazzinamento di merci. Le indagini geoarcheologiche restituiscono un paesaggio profondamente diverso, con varie presenze disposte lungo i canali che in antico rendevano la laguna “cerniera” tra vie di mare e vie di terra.
