Bulletin, The characteristics of growth of thigh muscles in soccer players have not been fully expressed. We examined the muscle thickness of the rectus femoris (RF) and the vastus intermedius (VI) at different sites of muscle in 112 male soccer players under developmental period aged from 12 to 22 years old. Using B-mode of a high resolution ultrasound, the muscle thickness in RF and VI was, respectively, measured at the site of 30% (proximal), 50% (intermediate) and 70% (distal) of the whole length of femur in dominant leg. The muscle thickness in both RF and VI increased with chronological age. However, the largest increment of thickness was attained during 14-16 years of age in RF despite over 18 years of age in VI. Comparing the muscle thickness among three sites, the largest thickness was observed at proximal site and followed by intermediate and then distal sites for both RF and VI. The present results suggested two important characteristics of growth of thigh muscles in the male soccer players; one is the earlier growth in RF than VI and the other is the greater growth at proximal site than intermediate and distal sites in RF and VI.

絶滅危惧種であるミヤマシジミの効率的な飼育方法を確立するために，2011年に２つの方法による成虫からの採卵と，卵，幼虫，蛹を16L8D の日長，15，20，25，30，33℃の温度条件で飼育を行い，その結果から飼育方法の有効性を評価した。採卵は野外ケージ法では１日１雌当たり平均17卵，リシャール法では平均11.2卵であった。リシャール法は天候に左右されずに採卵できたが，白熱電球で強制的に産卵させる装置であるため母蝶が傷つき易かった。幼虫の齢期によって飼育シャーレの大きさと幼虫密度を変えて飼育すると，幼虫の死亡率は低かった。餌のコマツナギの新葉の枝に水を含ませた脱脂綿をつけ，その上にアルミホイルさらにパラフィンフィルムを巻く方法によって，新鮮な食草を効率的に給餌できた。卵から成虫までの発育日数は30℃までは，温度が高くなるに伴い短くなったが，33℃では長くなった。餌の新鮮さと発育速度から，ミヤマシジミの飼育温度は25℃が最適と判断された。交尾は放蝶による自然交配とケージペアリング法を試み，前者では１日に３ペアの交尾を確認したが，後者では６日間で１ペアが交尾したのみであった。ミヤマシジミの累代飼育には，人為的な交尾技術を確立することが重要な課題である。, Article, 信州大学農学部AFC報告 10: 153-159(2012)

Twelve artificial diets were tested for suitability in the laboratory rearing of legume pod borer larvae, Maruca vitrata, under 25℃ and 14L1OD conditions. The larval developmental periods were significantly longer in all artificial diet regimes and pupal weight was heavier than in the natural diet regime. The survival rates to adult emergence on 30-50% cowpea and 10-70% azuki artificial diets were not significantly different from those of the natural diet. One female laid about 500 eggs on 30%, 70% cowpea artificial diets and 30-70% azuki artificial diets and can develop by mass-rearing in the laboratory. All 12 artificial diet regimes allowed the insects to complete their development. The 30-50% cowpea diets and 30-70% azuki diets were the most suitable for mass-rearing, because the daily reproductive rates (fecundity X emergence rate X copulation rate/(developmental duration+ duration for a maximum oviposition day)) were the highest (5.2-6.6 eggs/day/female).

日本産マメノメイガ(鱗翅目,ツトガ科)の発育に関する温度反応を14時間明期10時間暗期条件下で調査した.産卵から次世代成虫の羽化までの期間は15℃および20,25,30℃条件下でそれぞれ79.2±2.1日(平均±標準偏差),38.9±2.0日,21.7±0.7日,17.7±0.7日であった.10℃区では卵および幼虫の発育は認められなかった.発育有効積算温度別に基づいて,飼育温度に発育速度を直線回帰したところ,卵,幼虫,蛹期間および卵～蛹合計期間の発育零点は,それぞれ11.03,10.50,11.05℃および10.71℃と推定された.同様に有効積算温度は,それぞれ38.96,187.43,101.87日度および330.53日度と推定された.
