Recently, food safety issues occur frequently in Japan, as well as in other foreign countries. Since food is essential in daily life, and also directly connected with life and health, it has become a worldwide concern about how to manage the risk of food safety. In the meanwhile, as we learnt from the debate of TPP policy, how to protect the national agricultural products and how to keep the food self-support ratio in the changing global times also become the main subjects in each country. Based on the differences of food and food safety policy, not only the USA and EU, but also East Asia including Japan, have different points of view about the safety of food, especially of GMF.
