The use of cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging is increasing for the assessment of certain cardiovascular diseases, due to recent technical developments. CMR can give physicians information that cannot be found with other imaging modalities. However, there has been no guideline for the use of CMR in Korean people. Therefore, we have prepared a Korean guideline for the appropriate utilization of CMR to guide Korean physicians, imaging specialists, medical associates, and patients to improve the overall performances in medical system. By addressing CMR usage and creating these guidelines, we hope to contribute to the promotion of public health. Purpose: This study aimed to study the antibody response of Japanese encephalitis vaccination in children using different kinds of vaccines (inactivated vaccine, live attenuated vaccine or interchanged) and evaluate the effectiveness of the vaccines to provide the basis of efficient immunization schedule of Japanese encephalitis. Methods: Measurement of the neutralization antibody (NTAb) titers following Japanese encephalitis vaccination using different vaccines for 170 children, 2-6 year of age, who visited six university hospitals and are confirmed by immunization records. Results: Among 170 children who were given primary immunization on Japanese encephalitis, 103 children were given inactivated vaccine, 64 children were given live attenuated vaccine and 3 children were given interchangeably. NTAb titers were more than 1:10 in all children of three groups. The geographic mean antibody titer was 322 in inactivated vaccine group and 266 in live attenuated vaccine group. However, there was no significant difference between two groups. In both groups, the NTAb titer showed the peak at 1-4 months after the third immunization and declined. The NTAb titers of three children who were given two kinds of vaccines alternately were 1:135, 1:632, and 1:2511, respectively. Conclusion: According to the results of this study in children younger than 6 years old, there is no significant difference in effectiveness between inactivated and live attenuated vaccines. Whole lung lavage (WLL) is a challenging procedure; because lavage fluid may perturb the respiratory and hemodynamic systems. We observed severe airway obstruction and flattening arterial pressure wave during WLL for treatment of pulmonary alveolar proteinosis. The aim of this case report is to discuss the anesthetic requirement in order to prevent bronchospasm during WLL. Furthermore, we discuss the potential of lavage fluid to cause airway obstruction and decrease cardiac outflow through the mass effect. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose: The purpose of our study was to assess the anomalous location and course of the superficial peroneal nerve (SPN), which were come across during exposure of distal fibula fracture. Materials and Methods: We operated on 238 cases of ankle fractures, and examined the anomalous location and course of SPN around the distal part of the fibula. The study was performed prospectively. Results: The mean length of surgical exposure was 9.8 cm. In 10 (4%) of 238 cases, the nerve was anomalous in its course, which was in parallel with the distal fibula and rapidly curved anteriorly at 3.5 cm proximal to the tip of the fibula. We found 3 cases of injury to the SPN; one was completely transected, the second was partially transected, and the third was stretched over the fracture site, at 2.5 cm, 5 cm, and 6 cm proximal to the tip of distal fibula, respectively. Conclusion: We emphasize the importance of a detailed neurologic examination, including sensory test for patients with ankle fractures, because of the variation in course of the SPN around the distal fibula.
