This article provides an analysis of the legal aspects of properties' denationalisation that were nationalised by the Soviet regime in the wake of the de facto restoration of the independence of the Republic of Latvia. The analysis is based on the well-known legal and philosophical concept of dividing up personal property between property and wealth. The author argues that the denationalisation of properties that were nationalised during the Soviet era served to restore historical justice in the area of property rights to a greater or lesser extent, also returning the belief of people in property as a value. The author also concludes that positive rights in Latvia, sadly, do not strictly separate the concepts of property and wealth with the goal of protecting properties and limiting wealth. Such policies are not compatible with the dream of a truly socially responsible country. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
